Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Authorities in California acknowledged that they blew a chance three years ago to rescue Jaycee Dugard from the backyard labyrinth of sheds, tents and outbuildings that were concealed from the outside world. A neighbor called 911 in November 2006 and described suspect Phillip Garrido as a psychotic sex addict who was living with children and had people staying in tents in his backyard. The investigating officer spent a half-hour interviewing Garrido on his front porch but did not enter the house or search the backyard.

Fucking pedo loving cops.

If he tried to enter the house the ACLU would've wigged out.

Or not if he had probable cause, which he did.
Andy thinks that the police should be able to enter your home at anytime for no reason. See, I can make up stupid shit too!

If the officer though he had probably cause, he should have tried to convice a judge of that to get a warant. But the thing is, if after the interview the officer did not think there was enough evidence for a warant, then their nothing the police can do. I don't think the police should appologize for following the Constitution.

Perhaps this case will serve on purpose, that is to motivate both the police and the public to check out suspicious situations because there are probably others like this girl being held by other freaks.

They will be sure to get you for pot, however.

Celery, what's wrong with you? You're slipping. Didn't you mean to say:

JEFFJ...."YOU IGNORANT RACIST FUCK!!!!"....

Rastacy, such a nice dialogue you opened up. If your neighbor calls the cops and says you're weird, would you let the cop into your home without a warrent?

Is this what you think cops should be able to do?

I'd say the fault lies in the justice system...

Cops blew Child Abduction case?

No shit.

The guy was a convicted sex offender who had children living in tents in his backyard fer YEARS.

The information was even given over to authorities who FAILed to do their jobs.

While we're at it ...where this fuckwit's probation officer?

Child protective services?

Anyone?

This was EPIC FAIL on a massive scale all the way around the board.

Cecille B DeMille FAIL with a cast of thousands.

Due to the authorities seeming inability to stop convicting innocent people Spud aint wot ya call a fan of capitol punishment.

That sed, in circumstances like this one Spud reckons the sanest thing to do would be to give the father of this girl a lead pipe and ten minutes alone with the pedo-freak.

Then give the pipe to Mom an let her pay a visit to Wifey Dearest.

Simple, sane, just and oh-so cost effective.

Win/Win/Win/Win sez Spud.

Deth concurs.

Be Well.

There's no way in hell that this girl-woman could have been confined to a yard with tarps covering her for 18 fucking years!!

This is totally insane.

At least one day (or night) out of the 6,570 days that she spent there, she could've made an escape attempt....screaming to the neighbors, lighting a tarp on fire, etc.

She must have enjoyed a good part of the time camping out there (especially after she reached adulthood).

Too hard to believe, but I'll wait for Larry King to get to the bottom of it.

I can't really fault this girl/woman.
I can only imagine that the kidnapping ordeal was
an absolute overwhelming experience; she was young, naive, and
lacked any training as to how to cope
with her situation. After time passed (how long, who knows?)
she adapted - in order to survive.

She did not have the equipment/training to deal with
her situation. She was hopelessly trapped (at least
in her mind she was).

I am not second-guessing her parents, but parents
need to train/condition their kids for freaky scenarios
such as an evil pedophile owning your young ass/soul.

I read this morning that the Sheriff's Dept. has apologized to her parents for basicly blowing the case over so many years.

I hope and pray the re-united family can heal.

The cop blew it big time.

CPS would have gone in there on the phone call and closed down this pervert's operation.

Every cop on this "Asshole Police Force" should, before they're FIRED,being taken out and Fucking Horse Whipped to within an inch of their lousy, incompotent and useless lives!!! I really hope the parents of this victim "SUE" these contemptible Bastards for every god-damned cent they own!!!

This is a major story in the Reno area that has quite regularly been brought up over the years in the local media so it hits home for me for that reason and as a parent. As far as the cop responding to the code violation complaint the only thing I'm going to fault the police department for there is not advising the cop responding that Garrido was a convicted sex offender which might have caused him to investigate further. Just because a neighbor reports something unusual/possibly criminal isn't bona fide evidence of a crime.

I think major blame here is on the shoulders of his parole officer who should've made several intensive visits a year to this type of person supposedly under his supervision. Another thing was the original charge - Garrido was found guilty of kidnapping a woman and keeping her as a sex slave in a storage unit in Reno - WTF was he paroled after only 10 years!
