Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

BOSTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said.

"Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts)," the Kennedy family said in a statement early on Wednesday.

Rest in peace Ted.

Cancer is a bitch. I would not wish it on anyone.

Let all the piling on begin.

It's hard to feel bad when bad people die. It's easier to feel nothing at all.

2 things:

I hear the Kopechnes have been sitting on their story waiting for him to kick. Should be an interesting read.

Also, what's up with his seat? I heard somewhere that Mass can't hold a special election for 5 months... but that he asked to Gov. to find a work around before he went. He wanted to make sure his "health insurance reform" vote would still be there even if he wasn't. Say what you will about him, but he was a calculating bastard to the end.

I used to think that the only reason Ted Kennedy had any influence, was that he was from a rich and influential family. Then I heard him speak in Washington some years ago. He was a terrific orator, passionate and funny.

I never liked his politics, and think the only reason he never went to jail was his name; but he was a talented person in his own right.

Hitler was a great orator also.

Hitler was a great orator also.

You mean like MSNBC's Schultz on Senator Jesse Helms?

"He was a miserable rat. The world's a better place without him. I hope he's down there in hell roasting with Jerry Falwell."

I doubt it. Conservatives are not like that.
