Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Wednesday, October 15, 2008

The McCain campaign's depiction of Barack Obama as a mysterious "other" has found a receptive audience with many white Southern voters. "He's neither-nor," said Ricky Thompson, a pipe fitter who works at a factory north of Mobile, while standing in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store just north of here. "He's other. It's in the Bible. Come as one. Don't create other breeds."

"I've always been against the blacks," said Mr. Rowell, who is in his 70s, recalling how he was arrested for throwing firecrackers in the black section of town. But now that he has three biracial grandchildren "it was really rough on me" he said he had "found out they were human beings, too."

Admitting that you have been wrong all of your life probably is very rough.

Now, if this guy can do it, so can some of you.

Umm, rcade...

I'm not quiiiiiite sure that "spooks" was the most felicitous choice of words here...

Tee-hee!

Interesting how the NYT has taken a swipe at the McCain campaign in the opening sentence, without substantiating it at all.

I have a lot of questions about Obama's background too. It seems like a nullity to me, an empty cupboard. What does he believe in? What are his principles? Since nailing down the nomination, he's flipped on FISA, on Iraq, on offshore drilling--last I checked, those were big issues to liberals.

But if in asking those questions I'm guilty of some racially motivated subterfuge, who can? Has McCain personally said anything that is racist? EVER? Hell--the guy wants to throw the turnstiles of the country open to whoever shows up at the border. Godalmighty.

It's his friends that scare the hell out of me.

ANY non-white race spooks southerners.

"spooks"?

innuendo?

that's where you put the a/c...

I love how this statement: "white voters made it clear that they remain deeply uneasy with Mr. Obama with his POLITICS, his PERSONALITY and his biracial background" is always translated into "Southerners are 'spooked' by black politician". Yep - nothing to do with his policies, primciples, friends, and flipflops, only skin color.

Sure it was substantiated; NYT interviewed 5 people in the WalMart parking lot. Sounds scientifically substantiated to me!

I have a lot of questions about Obama's background too.

Since your doubts about Obama have nothing to do with his mixed-race background, you're not in the group the Times is writing about here.

Though they're making a big deal out of some anecdotal interviews, the people the paper found are pretty amazing in their racism.

Maybe the NYT should try the same thing in Compton and see what results they get there?

Meanwhile...........community activists for Obama yell "disrespect" when a local businessman displays a McCain/Palin sign and the NAACP is getting involved. All over a McCain/Palin sign.

www.washingtonpost.com

"Businesspeople have to be mindful of the sentiments and sensibilities of their market trading area, and Prince George's County is overwhelmingly for Obama," said community activist Arthur Turner of Kettering, who was among those advocating a boycott. "People I have talked to look at the sign as a slap in the face. They feel it was blatant disrespect. . . . I have heard people say they will no longer patronize Colony South because of that disrespect."

The marquee supporting the GOP ticket in "an area that is strongly African American was like putting a stink bomb in the middle of the living room," said University of Maryland political Professor Ron Walters. "What it does show is the emotions that are around this campaign and this election."

The sign went up Sunday evening, bold black letters against the stark white background of the marquee at the Colony South Hotel & Conference Center in Clinton: "Country First. McCain/Palin."

By daybreak, pandemonium had broken loose all across heavily Democratic Prince George's County. Many local supporters of Democrat Barack Obama, jolted by the message as they headed down Branch Avenue on their Monday morning commutes, grabbed cellphones and BlackBerrys to notify friends. Operators of neighborhood e-mail group lists cried foul to their memberships. The NAACP logged calls. Community leaders demanded boycotts of the hotel, a common venue for Democratic events.

Wow, I hope these folks in the south (and other places) realize that it's exactly this type of thing (racism) that forms for the rest of the developed world a stereo type of the average American. I can tell you for a fact being a Brit that this type of thing in the world news really does impact the world view of the average American. I know from living here (in the US) that it is an unfair stereo type for the most part but there it is. In certain parts of this country the racial intolerance is so far out in left field it's truly remarkable that even in 2008 it still exists at all let alone to that degree. From personal experience my wife (an American) and I looked at moving south at one point and the single deciding factor was that our daughter (whom we adopted at birth) is bi-racial (African and Irish respectivly). No one here in the northern part of the country gives her a second thought or a second look. We have never once had anything but positive feedback from friends, strangers, her teachers, etc. But somehow we knew that moving south may change that and as a result we opted to stay up here. If those folks in the south are truly the patriots they seem to want to be seen as then maybe they should start caring about how they are reflecting on the country they claim to be proud of. Contrary to what they may think, they do not truly live on "Planet America" as many seem to believe they do.

To hell with the southern racists - send them back where they came from!

This kind of stuff is great for McCain. It keeps reminding the base which candidate is the old wrinkly white guy and which one isn't. This is important since the average Rtard has an attention span of a 3 year old.

How is this any more racial than people in Brooklyn supposedly voting for obama on the "issues" when they think Palin is his running mate? Talk about racism!

BoyracerX? Did some creep on the retort get a new handle...

"To hell with the southern racists - send them back where they came from!"

Where do ya' wanna send the racists in Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, etc.?

"Though they're making a big deal out of some anecdotal interviews, the people the paper found are pretty amazing in their racism." #8 | Posted by rcade

That is called their "agenda". It is not the norm.

Though they're making a big deal out of some anecdotal interviews, the people the paper found are pretty amazing in their racism.

I wonder how many people were interviewed before they found the three racist people in the WalMart parking lots...

IIRC the article also shows several non-racist comments about Obama, but these get swept under the rug by most posters here since they don't fit their worldview that "All Southerners are racist". Are some? Yes, but no more than in the north. (Before y'all northies try to slam me, why don't you try to find where all the anti-immigration legislation has originated from in the the past 2 years - overwhelmingly in the North!)

I think that obama is about as african american as you can get isnt it?
I mean a dad from africa and a mom from america

how much more could he be

but here again we have bias and prejudice against southerners when there is just as much if not more in other states like ohio and the like
if you dont live in the new south then you dont understand just how much we "ALL JUST GET ALONG" down hear'.................

Another biased article--although they did print comments from folks who were offended by the question even being asked.

There is racism and bigotry on both sides of the spectrum.

Most folks--the majority of folks are in the middle.

I think polling people to determine if they're racist is more difficult than asking, "are you currently cheating on your spouse?"

I think polling people to determine if they're racist is more difficult than asking, "are you currently cheating on your spouse?"

True, and considering the percentage that actually admit it, the real number of pig-headed racists in this country is astounding.

The ones on here won't admit it, just to add to that point.

I wonder how many people were interviewed before they found the three racist people in the WalMart parking lots...

Stories like this one should answer that question.

you of course are lumping all conservatives with all rascists because that will be the first point that COMES OUT here during the campaign and it will be even worse if he wins..........

just listen to the defense of acorn and you will get a glimpse of how bad it will be for ANYONE TO question president obama.........

so its your bias and prejudice showing, not mine because for A LONG TIME I advocated a run for the pres from condi rice............

Well, I heard ole neil put her down
Well, I hope neil young will remember
A southern man dont need him around anyhow

Sweet home alabama

Yep, you're a hick!

How Long? How Long?

Yes, bigotry exists on both sides. Racism, no, Racism is something practiced by the race in power, i.e, this nation has a racist history.
Ergo, for racism to be eradicated, a mixed race president is a damn fine bet.

Which doesn't take bigots off the hook. You know, all those troggy John Wayne loving, Jonah in the whale, serpent in the garden believin', proud to be dim whites and their low hanging, baggy jean wearing proud to be a dumb shit black gangsta brethren, without forgetting the jihad crazed, honor killing, woman and gay folk stoning pieces of shit who tend to congregate in the world's arm pits, or even this smart ass, proud to be middle class librul pounding his musing on a keypad while giving half an ear to a tedious conference call about talking confections.

Bigotry will always exist. And the bigotry depicted in the times article, long gestating in the blood stream of the supposed "fundamentals" of our nation, is about to elect the target of their willing stupidity.

"..so its your bias and prejudice showing, not mine because for A LONG TIME I advocated a run for the pres from condi rice............"

You ever been to Northern Virginia? What McCain's brother calls "communist counties". There are more people here than the rest of the state. Besides being some of the most educated people in the country and some of the wealthiest, they are also some of the most pro-Obama and pro-Dem in the country. Right now there is a Dem governor and a dem senator. After Nov. 4, both senators will be Dem. Four years ago both senators, Warner and Allen were Repubs.

oops...........I forgot and not only would they not vote for her.........she would have been destroyed and HAD ALL SORTS OF threats against her much like the black man who emplored mccain to go after obama
I have read that he has gotten a lot of threats and insults and attacks from blacks as well as liberal whites.

Geezer1, that is EXACTLY how I feel about Obama and why I am not voting for him. Why is that so difficult for Democrats to acknowledge?

I realize that Geezer1

My question was in response to Fresno's remark of

"ANY non-white race spooks southerners."

I didn't feel it was fair to lump all Southerners into this catagory.

"that is EXACTLY how I feel about Obama "

Except with Palin, it's contempt. With Obama, it's jealousy.

Unless you have something on par with a Harvard magna?

The difference is that you haven't given Obama a chance to do anything while Rice and Bush have had eight years and have brought this country to ruins economically, politacally, militarily and internationally!

C'mon, Bushboffertoo -- Rice would lose because of ignoring Bin Laden's plan to attack (y'know, the document she didn't seem to read prior to the actual attack) a wrong, stupid, destructive invasion of a tin horn dictator's country -- the one that didn't attack us, and all around incompetence in regards to Korea, Iran, Israel etc. etc. And simply being Bushie boys puppet. Oh, and because the republican moniker is simply poison. Sort of like being pegged as a pedophile. Capice?

"..only because she doesn't have a clue about what the hell she is doing."

Yeahhhh...we know. (snicker, snicker) You lefties are just racist...like all those righties who won't vote for Obama. Not only that, but you wouldn't nominate Hillary, a WOMAN! Bigots...that's what you are. LOL...and here you are tryin' to tell us it has anything with the issues....

Why is that so difficult for Democrats to acknowledge?

I will acknowledge that if you acknowledge that there are Republicans that will never vote for a Negro because they are racist pigs.

"ANY non-white race spooks southerners."

That feller down in louisiana musta tricked 'em when he was elected governor. Same with the nation's first black governor from Virginia.

OBAMA IS A SPOOK, SO OF COURSE HE SPOOKS PEOPLE AND THEOSE PROGRESSIVE NORTHERNERS ARE SO OPEN TO CHANGE THAT FORCED BUSING ONLY HAPPENED IN THE SOUTH...

"Except with Palin, it's contempt. With Obama, it's jealousy."

I hate black people, especially Wayne Brady, but that's not why I refuse to vote for Obama.

"IT'S OFFICIAL! He's the Obamessiah!"

Like I said: idiots, and/or rightwingers. Thanks for, once again, proving me right.

"...THEOSE PROGRESSIVE NORTHERNERS ARE SO OPEN TO CHANGE THAT FORCED BUSING ONLY HAPPENED IN THE SOUTH..."

Yeah...all those reports of overturned school buses in Boston, the hell-raising in Cicero and the racist demonstrations all over the North were vicious lies!

Ricky Thompson is right. Why should we trust a guy who is a half white half black "breed". Can Flop Ears dance, play basketbal, snoke crack without wasting a puff. We know he can't bowl and he doesn't know how many states there are or how long a president is elected for. This man is an enigma inside of a puzzle!!!

No need to inject your feelings of inadequacy towards women here. Rice wouldn't get my vote NOT because she's a woman but because she has screwed up our oreign policy. If you think she has done a great job, or even an adequate job, then I can certainly see how you would think that George Bush has been one of our greatest presidents.

"Like I said: idiots, and/or rightwingers."

Danny...I'm shocked! Your very own Speaker of the House said He was blessed by God to lead us and now we have the leader of the NATION OF ISLAM confirming that He's the Messiah. Why are you continually saying it's the conservatives laying that title on him. How, in fact, can you doubt the stalwart icons of your OWN leadership who designate Him thus?

"Rice wouldn't get my vote NOT because she's a woman..."

We know, we know...it's because she's a BLACK woman...

meanwhile, all across the South there are blacks on city councils, in the mayor's office, school boards, state legislatures, etc.

heard tape of louie JUST YESTERDAY AGAIN call him the messiah and then he mentioned how the "children will follow'.........

"I can certainly see how you would think that George Bush has been one of our greatest presidents."

If that's what you see, then you CAN'T see.

"Your very own Speaker of the House said He was blessed by God to lead us"

1. I'm a lifelong Independent.

2. She's an idiot.

"Why are you continually saying it's the conservatives laying that title on him."

Because it usually is. Are you now going to pretend you're not the league leader?

"How, in fact, can you doubt the stalwart icons of your OWN leadership"

Not MY leadership. How, in fact, can you be such a partisan hack?

"who designate Him thus?"

...and the league leader widens his lead.

"Your very own Speaker of the House said He was blessed by God to lead us"

No, actually that isn't what she said. She said:

"a leader that God has blessed us with at this time."

There is a subtle but important difference between the statements. When quoting someone it is important to get it right.

The South voted solidly Democratic until LBJ, they were called Dixiecrats. After LBJ the South has voted solidly Republican, Nixon called it his "Southern Strategy".

The connecting factor is race. Everybody knew who and what Dixiecrats were but they gave them that cute name to disguise it. Everybody knows the two reasons the South votes Republican today. The first is evangelical Christianity with its biblically based stances on evolution, abortion and homosexuality. The second is racism. Republicans exploit both. They have no problem acknowleging the first(most of it, anyway), they remain silent on the second.

One of the reasons racism persists in this country is that it is rarely addressed directly. White flight, home schooling, vouchers etc. The absurd situation with the N-word highlights it best of all. Just stop using it and its origin word and it will soon go away. That includes blacks too although the black underclass(oops, not supposed to mention them either) where it's popular will continue to do it. Anybody who calls a Jew a kike or an Hispanic a spic soon finds out that doors start closing in their face. There is no K-word or S-word for them to get cute with.

If that's what you see, then you CAN'T see.

Maybe I'm just as myopic as you are when you say thet i wouldn't for for Rice because she is a black woman. I gave my reasons for not voting for Rice

Geezer,

Give Jest a break. He's in the early stages of Alzheimers.

Guys, guys, please.

First of all, let's get a few things clear.

1) in the south or in the north, you wouldn't have to ask that many people before you found someone that said exactly what this guys said. Racism is an American Problem.

2) This is not a hate issue. Ok, so a few rednecks and militant blacks want to make it one, but most decent (and otherwise racist) people, black and white, that say they are confused, are just that, confused. Their tried and true methods, that have been honed for generations are not gonna die because a few liberals tell them it should. Most of them are ignorant but not uneducated, wise but unworldly, snug in their environment and unwilling to change it.

3) True change is gonna take his generation and the next dying off.

4) this is NOT an exclusive southern issue, but there is more in the south because southerners are more traditional by nature.

5) I consider myself to be the new south. I am part of the group that is gonna philosophically take over this country, which started in the early 60's and is continuing unimpeded to this day.

6) Back in the day, If Obama would have been white, people would have been bitching becasue he was a Chicago Liberal.

"Maybe I'm just as myopic as you are when you say thet i wouldn't for for Rice because she is a black woman. I gave my reasons for not voting for Rice"

I'm just messin' with ya', Geezer. A lot of the little leftist-socialist friends here on the DR accuse those of us who won't vote for Obama of being racist and act as though it is limited to the South. I was giving some of it back.
From one geezer to another Geezer, I haven't been able to vote democrat for years as the party has drifted farther and farther to the left. This time the party has nominated a bona fida socialist and THAT'S why I won't vote for him. I haven't voted FOR a candidate for a long time. It seems I always wind up just voting AGAINST some candidate. That's what I'm gonna do this time too. Go ahead, accuse me of being racist....

www.powerlineblog.com

"Give Jest a break. He's in the early stages of Alzheimers."

Jest doesn't need a break, Danny. Besides, those of us who are a little older and wiser understand that you're just a young aspiring actor seeking a part in some production somewhere and thinking you'll find one on the DR. LOL...Who are you pretending to be today? A political consultant? A comedian? Maybe you SHOULD consider stand-up comedy.

Jest,

I agree with you that most righties on the DR are NOT voting for Obama because of his race. There are a few nutjob exceptions, you know who they are. Obviously, people, black and white, are going to go with whatever they feel comfortable with and that doesn't necessarily make them racist. There are going to be many repubs that are going to vote based on conservative vs liberal takes on issues and many dems as well. And, of course, there are going to be a few that will not vote for Obama only because he is black and some that will vote for him only because he is black. I think that if Obama wins, there are going to be many, especially in the south, who will be shocked when he doesn't cater only to the black community.
I was a straight line repub since I could vote. I have seen Bush hijack the republican party and morph it into something unrecognizable. I am still conservative but (I am voting for Obama. I know this goes completely agains the grain but I believe it is the only way to take the Republican party away from the people that have ruined it. I will still vote for my repub congressman because he is of the "old school"

As long as you match blood types, skin grafts work between different races. Grafted skin assumes the color of its host.

It will be interesting to find out after the election how many traditional Republicans voted for Obama. They will make no difference in California, New York etc but they might just make the difference in N. Carolina or Ohio.

If there had been a Democratic President, VP and Congress who had behaved like Bush, Cheney, Frist and DeLay I'd break my lifelong tendency to vote Democratic, just like Geezer1 is breaking his to vote against what his party has become. It can't be easy to do that and you have my respect, whatever that is worth, for doing so.

Hope your "old school" Republican congressman wins. I'm stuck with a "new school" Republican Congressman and Senator who will both win re-election easily.

Sorry BLT. He was my senator and I voted for him on his first and successful run for a senate seat and previously when he was gov. Allen shot himself in the foot, first by his retarded "macaca" insult and then his even more retarded defense of it saying that his french mother used it as a term of endearment. After that everything that came out of his mouth only showed that he was a shallow person of little intelligence. He was able to parlay his father's (Redskins head coach George Allen) popoularity to get elected as governor. As chief executive he did nothing wrong and parlayed it into a senate run, again with his famous name. He was cruising to victory when he made the "macaca" statement and was all downhill from then on. The fact that Jim Webb was a war hero, an author and has great ideas only reinforced voters opinions that Allen was a faux cowboy with no substance behind his talking points. There was no smear campaingn. He did it all on his own.

It will be interesting to find out after the election how many traditional Republicans voted for Obama.

~BiB

Spud's been wonderin' this too.

How many dyed-in-the-wool RTs are gonna go all the way up to election day mouthing their antiObama smears that all their friends are spouting but who, in the privacy of the voting booth, will pull the lever fer Obama because of the economy and the war and the general unworthiness of the McThuselah/FAILin ticket?

Spud calls it the "reverse-Bradley" effect.

And while the MSM are speculating wildly about the Bradley effect, in an effort to tighten up this race that Obama is threatening to run away with, there's nary a peep on this topic.

More than passing strange is that.

/Not really.

//They're making headlines!

Geezer1: Nice, honest post about Allen and Webb. It amazes me how the new right will tear down American serviceman and women when they stray off the reservation in order to retain their integrity and moral compass.

Webb leaving and running as a dem was the beginning of what we see now -- thoughtful, worldly, cultured, and intellectually curious (I know I'm being redundant) Republicans leaving the party as the party is taken over by machiavellian elites and chicken hawks who shamelessly manipulate the howls of the self-victimized dime store bible thumpers with a cartoon version of patriotism and a punch and judy production presenting their fears and resentments as justified fact, rather than the mulching turds of delusion that they are.

Well, you've lost the election anyway so I suppose it doesn't matter much to you but, assuming you hadn't, would you prefer to win or get carried away by your own nasty cleverness?

The marquee supporting the GOP ticket in "an area that is strongly African American was like putting a stink bomb in the middle of the living room,"

Seems to me that statement is racisist. 95% of blacks support ears. If that isn't voting color I don't know what is.

Rubbing F-Wit Thom's head is considered lucky if you get your fingers back out of the rainbow spikes.

" If that isn't voting color I don't know what is."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. That's why Jesse Jackson is the perennial Democratic nominee.

This is an idiotic premise.. would these same writers say that blacks voting are en masse for Obama because McCain is white? It would be much closer to the truth, and while we can all be understanding about the chance to elect the first black president, racial politics is racial politics.

The race card is played by liberals.. not by conservative whites. I'm not voting for Obama because he's a liberal that believes in wealth redistribution, nationalized health care, and in subservience to the United Nations. I wouldn't vote for him if he were white, or blue, or green.

It's an idiotic premise that Obama is suffering by being black.. he's a multi-millionaire that attended Ivy League schools. The rest of us should be so fortunate.

Over the last year that's all I've heard is "I ain't votin for no nigger!" and other similar words. The ignorance and bigotry here are awful. It's not a small group either. Although I don't agree with your politics, I did agree to your post until I got to the last sentence. He's a multi-millionaire??? Link please.

The only reason his income has gone up in the last few years is the two books he wrote. As far as Ivy league schools, scholarships and student loans, certainly not trust funds, got him that education.

Palin must have sealed the deal for NMG NO. He reasons(kinda, you betcha) just like she does.

"It's his friends that scare the hell out of me."

YEAH!
Then Grover Norquiest must really scare the shit out of You!

Psst...I heard McCain pals around with...Republicans!

If that isn't voting color I don't know what is....#81 | Posted by Sniper

Of course blacks "vote color". If your societal situation and history were a product of the prejudice and bigotry your skin color had brought your way, you would too. You too would vote against a political party that, all pious protestations aside, many people, and not all black, believe has positioned itself to take advantage of such attitudes.

Horseshit indeed. All of you who think you're so diverse and accepting compared to the south need to STFU...

Let's face it, if you don't live in the south the only place you will see a black person is in the urban areas.. 99% of black people live in the cities in the North..

Down here whites and blacks live together all over, in town and in the country.. I see black guys with white girls all the time.. I see tons of whites at clubs that the average yankee would think they would be killed in.. I grew up in a very mixed neighborhood in AL..

I know some older folks are still racists but no more than the average yank.. Its funny to see how people from CA and the Northeast view the south.. Their only experience is having seen "Deliverance" and "Easy Rider"

Is anyone going to acknowlege that Hillary had the black vote sewn up until SC?

Or does that not fit into your agenda?

yep that explains why 90% of &lacks are polling for Obmama.

"Seems to me that statement is racisist. 95% of blacks support ears."

Coincidentally they also are Democrats. Perhaps the racist policies of Republicans since the sixties turned them off to that party.

......................boo !................

........fucking pussies.....scared of a skinny black dude.......

Look at these racist muthas. Here's your typical educated voter supporting obama and his vice president, sarah palin.

www.youtube.com

that's funny.... dumb ass people...

But I guess that was also racist wasn't it?

Not sure if you would consider it racist or not. Guess it doesn't matter because anything you might utter in a negative fashion about the Chosen One is by definition racist.

Actually, I think we can chalk this up to ignorance, stupidity, and the willingless to follow someone without having a clue what you, or HE stands for.

that WAS only three people though. I'd be interested in seeing about 20 interviews of random sampling by white AND black people and see what the results are.

There are a lot of smart people voting for Obama too. They can't use stupidity as an excuse. They're just sheep and they're towing the party line.

Not sure if you would consider it racist or not. Guess it doesn't matter because anything you might utter in a negative fashion about the Chosen One is by definition racist.

Wotta load of twaddle.

It's become a rethug mantra by this point but it's patently untrue.

Question the soundness of his policies and folk on the left'll debate policy till the cows come home.

Start in with this demonising Wright nonsense or allow Rush Limpo to keep calling him "little man child" aka "boy" and it's pure rethuglycan race baiting and fear mongering.

See also: Secret Muslim/Secret Arab BS.

that WAS only three people though

Three racist SOBs out of how many?

Do you think the KKK aren't endorsing McCain this time around?

Do you understand the way rethugs have used race as a wedge issue fer decades?

See: Southern Strategy.

Spud defines "sheeple" as anyone who can look at McCain's adherence to the failed policies of BushCo and still see him as an effective agent for much needed change in America.

Co-opting a message is easy.

Getting folks to believe you mean it is another matter entirely.

Hillary tried to co-opt the change message and failed.

So will McSame/Failin.

Be Well.

I'd like to see Obama get in just ruffle the feathers of the old, white, southern, conservative, christia n crowd.. Hell I already got all my guns so what's there too lose?

Even the Irish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, had to fight for respect in the past. After the GI Bill was passed and when people of every background flooded the colleges and universities, people of English origin ceased to dominate the nation.

Unfortunately, Blacks suffered the most. There will be a Black President, but I'm not sure if the time is now. I would guess Obama should try again in 2016.

"He's neither-nor,"

I suppose this is an improvement over the old days when 1/64 "negro blood" was enough to count as black...

-I would guess Obama should try again in 2016.

Is this Niceville, or he is just trying to make Niceville look smart?

This article is nothing more than proof that you can write an article about pretty much anything if you wander around weird areas, interview a few people and pretend that their opinions are representative of some sort of larger group. The fact that the NYT decided to do just that, and that they chose the topic of racism toward Obama by southerners, tells you exactly who they want you to think is stupid and exactly who they want you to feel sorry for.

all americans should be treated equally if they are
here legally. these days its like if you can make
it accross the border your entitled until you
you go back home. the jobs the illegals do would
leave a vacancy but changing green card rules to
fit todays security climate could help on both
sides of the fence.

*** I would guess Obama should try again in 2016.

.........there is a two term limit......

..........so he won't be able to..........

Is it racist not to vote for a man whose policies and ideals one does not support?

I guess I'm racist because I don't support Obama. I just don't like his policies or ideals. So I guess I need to be shipped off to racial rehab.

What do they do to you in racial rehab? Do they give you a black doll and tell you to point to the parts that scare you?*

*taken from another site

At one time there were signs all across America:

Irish Not Welcome!

Southerners, who by and large have a lot of Irish ancestry, should take note and reflect on that.

I have to say, living in the South, that racism seems far less prevalent here than I've found it in the industrial North.

YEAH!

I can't wait until obama is president and puts ayers in controll of DHS!

At leats then we will have some antigovernment action instead of pussys like Grover Norquiest just talking about blowing up the government!

Then we will see who has what it takes! And it aint going to be the WS criminals and their government stooges (ie the Fake Plastic "conservatives")!

KBOOM!

An American: No you're not racist for not voting for Obama if you don't like his policies. But I would say you're delusional if you think the other side offers a better plan, seeing that it has already failed and continues to do so.

Redneckville: Brilliant. Open revolution. Revenge of the pity pot unwashed white folkies wolksies all upset that their country has grown up and left them to play in the sandbox with nothing but their pea-shooters, bibles and made in China 100% authentic Sarah Palin glasses.

This is a no brainer: If you are not going to vote for Obama because he is black your a racist peice trash. If your voting for Obama because he is black, your a racist peice of trash.

Maybe the NYT should try the same thing in Compton and see what results they get there?

Somebody told me they did not want to look at Obama for 4-8 years because of his dark lips. I said, well, you survived four years of Jimmy Carter's liver lips. LOL. Come on, southerners, Obama is almost as white as Colin Powell.

This is a no brainer: If you are not going to vote for Obama because he is black your a racist peice [sic] trash. If your [sic] voting for Obama because he is black, your [sic] a racist peice [sic] of trash.

I remember the song by Cat Stephens... every one ride on the peace trash.

if you are black and voting for Obama because he is black, whether you are a black or just a self loathing dumb ass white, you are a racist, and apparently 95% of the blacks in America are racist...so I don't want to hear any shit from racist blacks that whites that wont vote for Obamaboy are racists.

Not sure if you would consider it racist or not. Guess it doesn't matter because anything you might utter in a negative fashion about the Chosen One is by definition racist.

Interesting using the Chosen One as a Obama reference. I was getting my haircut yesterday and came upon something rather unusual and a little eery. If one looks at Luke 10:18 and looks up Barack and Obama in Hebrew, they have references to Lightening and Heaven. Could this be the October surprise? Only a few more Sunday services left before the election. I wonder if the clergy will bring this up?

Guess it doesn't matter because anything you might utter in a negative fashion about the Chosen One is by definition racist.

Just cos you repeat the same lie over and over again doesn't make it true.

just a self loathing dumb ass white

~Reinyerselfin

Soooo if yer white and you vote fer Obama yer some kind of race traitor now are ya?

Guess some people join the Klan just so they can wear that pointy hat to cover up their pointy head.

Got yer number now.

The GOPhers truly are the party of racists, sexists, homophobes and just general hate of anyone who aint as dumb as them.

Ya wanna talk policy? We'll talk policy.

You wanna make absurd racist statements?

They will not be ignored.

Too nuanced fer y'all?

Be Well.

I was simply using the line as a lead in to my conspiracy post. Not sure what the hell you are talking about or to whom. I know third person is your forte, but I can't tell if you are arguing with yourself or other posters.

You fellers just keep criticizing the South. You won't see anyone display disrespect for America or the American flag at a NASCAR event.

And I only suggest that you:

Save your Confederate money boys,
The South shall rise again.
The time will come
The boys in grey
Will march trhough Washington.

Some of you damyankees seem to have a stereotype of the South that you think is negative, while Southerners find their beliefs positive.

Take your pejoratives and shove them.
