Nervous negotiators have begun examining alternative agreements that would allow U.S. troops to stay in Iraq beyond the Dec. 31 deadline. Lacking an agreement, "American forces will lose their legal cover on Dec. 31," Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said this weekend.

Good. I hope it falls through. Its about time that bullshit war ended.

Nervous negotiators have begun examining alternative agreements that would allow U.S. troops to stay in Iraq beyond the Dec. 31 deadline....

Forget having our troops stay even longer thant the five years they've already had to suffer over there. I'd like to see the U.S. to work a lot harder to lock in some of those Iraq oil contracts which now seem all to be being given to Communist China instead of our country.

Come on, we shouldn't have even gone into this stinking war at all but, since we did go, at least let our own country get something positive fromof being at war for FIVE years in Iraq. Give U.S. big oil first dibs on those oil contracts.

Did we go to war only to let Communist China get their hands on the Iraq oil reserves. Crass as it sounds -- to the victor belong the spoils. In Iraq's case, the spoil is oil.

The moral and ethical democrat raises that ugly head.

Yeah, we'll just re-invade until we install a puppet government that is willing to sign over their life-blood for a pittance. And we wonder why batshit crazy people fly planes into our buildings.

I guess wanting the iraqi gov't to stand up for itself is a double edged sword. Though I'm not sure who will fill the vacuum.

"The moral and ethical democrat raises that ugly head."

I don't know if Chris is a democrat or not, but you're right, that's just raw imperialism.

Even though we have been stealing Iraqi Oil ever since this Illegal Endeavor began. What right or reason do we have to that Oil?? CalifChris it would be no different than Me invading Your house/abode and staking claim to Your goods that I may want. Your lipstick supply sure looks inviting right about now since I will be doing some sheetrock work soon. Think You would like that?? Or hell how about Your bubblebath oils. I could sure use some of that oil here at the old homestead. No I don't take bubblebaths but hell I am sure I could find other uses for it. After all if I invade Your home accordings to You I am entitled to it.

Larry

Yeah, let's find another excuse to spend $1 trillion for nothing.

Somebody has to hit the STOP button on this madness.

Time to leave.

...and on topic....quit scrambling in negotiations. Instead, just scramble on out of there.

This is a ruse. But not a totally evil one.

It is designed to give the Iraqi government validation in the eyes of the world. 'Look at little Iraq getting tough with America, they've really gotten their act together'. Not a bad ideal really, since we'll be leaving soon anyway.

It all boils down to this; If the US soldiers are under their laws, then we are guests. If the US soldiers are not under their laws, we are occupiers.

High Five, Ride.

"High Five, Ride."

Pathetic that you would identify with such a worthless troll. I thought you were better than that.

U.S. SCRAMPLES TO KEEP DEAL OF WAR WAR WAR IN IRAQ

We are trying to make a deal to stay in iraq, but I thought it was a war. So we are scrambling to make a deal to keep the war going in iraq.

Now we know what war is like under these republican neoliberals. Don't seem to know what war really is but what can one expect from an IQ of 83.

Pathetic that you would identify with such a worthless troll. I thought you were better than that.

So you want us to stay in Iraq? Whoda thought?

"So you want us to stay in Iraq? Whoda thought?"

Nothing to do with Iraq. I just think you're smarter than RideOn. Maybe I'm wrong.

I never said we should STEAL Iraq's oil.

I mean that since Iraq's government is now dealing out oil contracts to other countries, it would be nice if the U.S. maybe got first dibs before Communist China and other countries did. That's reality. Those oil contracts are going to be given by the Iraq government to somebody -- why not us?

I just think you're smarter than RideOn. Maybe I'm wrong.

Maybe.... But what I've never done is to comment on who responds to who.
Doesn't matter either way.

$1 trillion flushed down that toilet (so far), Malaki is telling the Shrub which way the bear shits in the woods and gasoline is 2.5 times the cost when the moron took over under treasonous circumstances. Paulson is leading a last minute raid on the US Treasury on behalf of his Wall Street Cronies. Iran is loving every minute of it and still Rethuglican loyalists don't get it.

Please, please, pleeeeease, Larry, tell me you're not trying to warn me one day I may walk into my house and find you wearing my lipstick and taking a nice bubblebath with my bath oils? That's one visual I could not handle.

Ummmmm Nope. When I do a major sheetrock job I usually go and buy a couple bright red tubes of cheap lipstick. I don't buy it to wear I use to to mark the outlets on the backs of the sheetrock. You take and measure the sheetrock then take the cheep bright red lipstick and lipstick the lip of Your plug in and switch boxes and then place the sheetrock in the right spot and take and press the sheetrock against those places where the outlets are and then volla Your outlet boxes are now marked on the sheetrock and then You can cut it out and place the sheetrock back into place and fasten it to the wall and there You go. No I don't even like the smell of lipstick much less have any on.

Let them fend for themselves and sink the war money into the USA to create jobs and manufacturing once again.

Let the people decide.

Let's bring 'em back, goddammit.

US Scrambles for Deal to Stay in Iraq? It doesn't matter who get elected... scrambled? more like over hard! and that's no yoke!

ok. i'll stop.

Crass as it sounds -- to the victor belong the spoils. In Iraq's case, the spoil is oil.

Some would contend that, seeing as we're still fighting, we haven't won.

Whether through black ops or open war, this is why we're targets of 'terrorists'. We swoop in, cause regime change then wait for our giant corporations to take the spoils.

When will it change? You're against the policies of George W Bush, fine. But you're perfectly willing to allow him and his friends make a shit load of money off the backs of the Iraqi people?

No! The Iraqi people and their government, corrupt as it may be, should be allowed to determine who gets the oil contracts. If they want democracy, let them fight for it. If they want some other form of government, let them fight for it.

How about this. Bring our troops home.

None of this bullshit about leaving 40,000. None of this bullshit about private mercenaries like Blackwater. None of it.

Bring American forces home. Now. Regardless of where the oil goes.

The righty-tighties will attempt to spin this story into another stunning success for Whistle Ass.

The number of Christian families who have fled the northern Iraqi city of Mosul in the past week has reached 1,350, authorities said Wednesday.

Nineveh Deputy Governor Khasro Goran said the new numbers were provided by the provincial city's office of immigration and displaced persons.

The families fled, reportedly frightened by a series of killings and threats by Muslim extremists ordering them to convert to Islam or face possible death, Iraqi officials said.

Fourteen Christians have been slain in the past two weeks in the city, which is located about 260 miles (420 kilometers) north of Baghdad.

In response to the attacks, authorities ordered more checkpoints in several of the city's Christian neighborhoods.

The attacks may have been prompted by Christian demonstrations ahead of provincial elections, which are to be held by January 31, 2009, authorities said.

Iraq is the ultimate demonstration of the evil and the incompetence of the neocons. Their evil invasion was supposed to have yielded PSAs for the major oil companies though they pretended it was about freedom haha. Now after all the waste of money and lives we will be coming home without the oil and unfortunately for unsuspecting patriotic Americans with Iraqi blood on our hands and flag draped caskets. The perpetrators should not be allowed to simply leave office, there should be prosecutions for their crimes against humanity and punishments appropriate to the murder of a million people. I can see why the neocons so fear an Obama presidency, he may represent the justice they are so afraid of. America will never be trusted or respected until we bring these criminals to justice, does anyone believe we would be friendly with Germany today if no justice had been brought to their war criminals? Why would we think we are immune?

OH, BTW, China wishes to express its gratitude for all the oil it now receives from Iraq.

Danni,

. Now after all the waste of money and lives we will be coming home without the oil

If we wanted the oil, we would have taken it.

evil invasion was supposed to have yielded PSAs for the major oil companies though they pretended it was about freedom haha

Fact is, this invasion carried far more noble purposes than you'd care to admit. Study your history - the US has a distinguished history of overthrowing legitimate government and installing thug, puppet dictators who are friendly toward our whims. The fact that this administration did nothing of the sort should tell you something.

The perpetrators should not be allowed to simply leave office, there should be prosecutions for their crimes against humanity and punishments appropriate to the murder of a million people.

Congress gave Bush authority to take military action in Iraq. Over 30 countries pledged varying degrees of support.

You might as well prosecute every president in our history for war crimes, based upon your criteria.

Ummmmmmm JeffJ we HAVE been taking it. We have been taking it ever since the War began. This ain't some noble cause like You so desperately try and hold onto. It is the systematic theft of Iraqis Natural resourses namely Oil.

Larry

Oh and JeffJ Dubya TRIED to install a thugish Dictator Remember Alawi?? Just like Saddam. Of course that didn't work out so well.

Weren't some of you bitching that Iraq has a $79 billion surplus from oil revenues?

Oh and JeffJ Dubya TRIED to install a thugish Dictator Remember Alawi?

If Bush really wanted Alawi, he would have simply installed him. He had the blueprint for doing so as our government has installed friendly thug dictators on numerous occasions. The fact that he didn't interfere with the elections and accepted the results is a clear demonstration that he's not as nefarious as so many on this blog suggest.

It wasn't a war for oil, it was a war for the PRICE of oil. Up until very recently, that war has been an unqualified success.

So maybe we are leaving iraq. I won't believe it until I see it, but I would absolutely not be surprised if I heard Bush say something to that effect in the coming weeks.

The 79 Billion was oil sales to other Countries that already had contracts with Iraq. NOT from oil that we stole from Iraq. Oh and Dubya TRIED to install Alawi permanently but Al Sistani raised a big ole stink about that so Dubya blinked and had to hold almost legitament elections.

Larry

Sounds like most on this board, and a great many other Americans want us out of Iraq.

So does anyone remember who promoted this war via the complicit/irresponsible mainstream media?

Your lipstick supply sure looks inviting right about now

**** Those oil contracts are going to be given by the Iraq government to somebody -- why not us?

........they are playing us for suckers.....thats why........

......and little Bush keeps sending them reconstruction money....what an idiot......

"The fact that he didn't interfere with the elections and accepted the results is a clear demonstration that he's not as nefarious as so many on this blog suggest."

We'll see after a new president is enaugurated and real investigations can begin. I suspect that the crimes committed will far exceed even the suspicions of those of us who think Bush is a war criminal.
BTW, you are right Jeff about the US removing legitimate governments....mostly under REpublicans and especially in S. America which they remember quite well and presently Russia has more friends and more influence there because of it.

Its almost as if some people aren't happy unless they know when they wake up in the morning, there is a chance a US soldier who is in Iraq serving no national secuirty purpose might be killed today. And the thought that one day soon a day might come where they wake up and this might not be true bums them out.

Forget having our troops stay even longer thant the five years they've already had to suffer over there. I'd like to see the U.S. to work a lot harder to lock in some of those Iraq oil contracts which now seem all to be being given to Communist China instead of our country.

Right, Your country should be rewarded for killing hundredthousands of Iraqis in a criminal war of agression.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki failed to mention
the american troops killed while working toward the freedom of iraquis

You know what the problem is with the right wingers. They are trying their level best to try and find something tangible to hold onto with regards to this Illegal endeavor. They supported a President as He went to War under blatant lies. The Right did not support America and what Her values are. They did not do their patriotic duty when They knew they should have dissented and acted the the traitor to America. They are finding out now how traitorous they were and their guts are churning mightily. It must suck to be a Bushite now with all that death and destruction upon their hands. Be Brave Bushites Be brave. Oh and stock up on truckloads of Lava Soap You will need it.
