And after voting, hitting the bottle.

Who cares? Like they matter.

I agree with Lee.

Doesn't matter to you, matters to me. Trying to make sure that bush jr. doesn't get a majority and follow you wackos down the road to perdition (aka the right's ideology). If Harper had been in power in 2003, our asses would be alongside yours in bush's excellent iraqi adventure. It would have added credibility to your illegal invasion and put us in the same shitter as you now are...but you are "winning", right?

You forgot to say "fundie", again, Poncho.

I hate the french.

but you are "winning", right?

Why should you care, Snowback?

I hate the french.

You're right, hard to disassociate fundies from u.s. politics...they seem to hold the stick in your country for some fucked up reason...and it's such a fun word...FUNDIE!!!

but you are "winning", right?

Why should you care, Snowback?

I so fucking don't. It's just hilarious...an endless source of "I told you so, Jethro"...

Actually I do care: for those in your country who could see the folly of this administration but were swept under the carpet with cries of treason. Did I mention that I find it funny?

Canadians Hit The Polls Today.

What did the Poles ever do to Canada for Canadians to do this? Fuck, DudSpud hits it everyday.

Maybe the folks up North can elect someone wackier than Obama, eh.

Kanookistan has an organized government? Where do they meet at, Tim Horton's? Who knew...?

Do Canadians even care about their own political system? Seems to me they're too busy sitting around talking about ours all the time. I wonder how many of them will be looking for Obama's name on the ballot.

Do I have to mention you have no choice? No?

Then shut the fuck up. Oui?

#11 | Posted by LeeAtwater at 2008-10-14 04:57 PM |

You're about as clear as your clown in chief there, chief. Choice in finding it funny? In not caring? Try again, oui?

Does that clear it up for you, 'skimo?

You know if it wasn't for Benedict Arnold losing a key battle in the Revolutionary War, Canada would be a part of the U.S. But much like New Jersey, we wouldn't want it.

Let's not forget that not only do they speak French but a lot of them are. We whould see white flags before we even leave home.

Absolutely. One of the parties is actually suggesting we arm our forces with real guns, real bullets, the whole nine yards. I think we're in grave danger of becoming a military state. I also think one per continent is enough.

"""You know if it wasn't for Benedict Arnold losing a key battle in the Revolutionary War, Canada would be a part of the U.S. But much like New Jersey, we wouldn't want it. """

Is that the part when we went down there and burned your white house to the ground? I forget.

You don't read much, do you? Please don't tell me that you're part of the 20% of your countrymen who can't find your country on a fucking map.

Keep your opinions about our illegal invasions from Mexico to your self, Pancho

Duceppe has the best ideas and leadership of any of them. Too bad the Bloc won't run outside of Quebec. "Quebec out of Canada now" would not be not an unpopular platform in the rest of Canada.

You guys really can't be that stupid, can you?
Without the support of France-and many of her Nobles who came over here at the time-there wouldn't BE a United States of America-we'd still be a British Colony.
Hell-they even gave us the Statue of Libery!
You shitstains really need an asswhoopin' to clean out all that hate from your souls.

WTF is that?

What's with the double post? Parkinson's kicking in old man?

Sorry about the double post-slow connection today...

But it does bear repeating.
They do need to be taken out behind the woodshed and worked over with a willow switch.

Who's going to swing the hammer? The French or Canadians?

The Canadians.

The French could only try to slap them silly.

Watch it, you're going to piss off Pierre3.5

meanwhile we Canadians will clean up our act then we'll deal with our newest north american tenants - serves you right for f'ing up your own economy

and to ALL americans quit believing the bull your gov't feeds you - it's all lies to manipulate the country to the advantage of a few of shrubbie's friends.

Nope. Sorry Jethro. It's even more confusing.

panchovilla, serious question(s)
How long does your election season last as compared to ours?
Does your election take place in a single day?
Thanks in advance.

He does have a few interesting ideas, but the Bloc, much like the Quebec Provincial party (PQ) have a tendency of overextending themselves financially and running the province to deficit. A little too "interventionist" for my taste, too pro-union, too isolationist, retrograde. Thank god the separation debate is waning.

Wisgod,
It's a little over a month of campaigning and a day of voting, with the usual anticipation vote for those out of country or unable to vote on the selected day.

Elected PM is elected for a 4 year term (no 8 year limit), but can be defeated in the context of a no confidence vote, dissolving parliament. Usually happens in a minority gov't situation. The gov't can also call an election before the end of their term, but it requires a bit shimmying.

Well, I tip my hat to Canada for having the good sense of not dragging it out like we do. This is ridiculous.

Definitely. The length of American political campaigns is absurd.

To a certain degree, it ensures that folks are voting on issues as opposed to a free for all game of character assassination. More efficient I guess, but much less entertaining...the stakes are usually limited to our borders as well.

If I could vote there, I'd definately vote for the turd sandwich. The douchebag is an oil puppet, and a bush-buddy.

I know. The turd sandwich is so pathetic, he will most likely win a few ridings out of sympathy. It hurts to watch him speak, in any language.

We get our fill of character assassination every year at the State level elections. And they are under time constraints, so they're very good at it.

We should have known we were electing a crook, the other guys was telling us all along.

And you appear to be stuck on making no sense.

Are conservatives in Canada akin to conservatives in the States?

Maybe we can use Canada. Perhaps they'd agree to allow us to deport our conservatives there. They could re-educate them and return them... or send them to the Yukon territory.

(Assuming that the Yukon territory doesn't turn into a warm, pleasant location thanks to conservative-caused Global Warming.)

They are more liberal than our conservatives, but not to the degree that I'd call them pantpissers or limpwrists...

Our conservatives would land around the center of your left-right scale, though Harper's background is guns and bibles, anti-abortion, big business etc...so he pulls to the right more than other conservatives have in the past (imo).

......watching the American political scene is like looking at a car accident in slow motion......you just can't look away.......

......the Canadians are boring.....they have a balanced budget, public healthcare, no foreclosure crisis, affordable education and a conservative government that will not interfere with abortion, gay marriage, human rights or spy on their own people...............boooring. .....

Conservatives win in Canada.

Way to go DudSpud(tm)...keep up the good work. ROFLMAO.

if center is defined essentially as the US Democrats, the Canadian political party spectrum really consists of one centre or slightly right of centre party (consevatives) a slightly left of center party (liberals) and then 3 dipshit too far left of central parties that have never, will never be in power. However, they do hold some swing votes in cases of minority governments, but rarely impact the policy, even though they can plague the debates.

Worth pointing out that recently even the liberals were running high surpluses for many years. Days of tax and spend, or borrow and spend appear behind us, as the two main parties are fiscally responsible. Canadians accept a higher tax burden in exchange for incresaed social program that mesh fairly well with private services and private sector.

"Quebec out of Canada now" would not be not an unpopular platform in the rest of Canada.

Palin thinks Alaska out'll help her.

Message to McCadaver-denounce Iraq as a mistake, support socialised medicine, run surpluses and export oil like saudistan and you too can almost get to run a country, though in fairness, your 43% beats the conservatives 37% vote.

Liberals are always complaining about how there's too much free speech

Surprising though it is, conservatives in Canada or anywhere else don't actually have to be the same as American conservatives. Some conservatives abroad might make the case that American conservatism today is more akin to the Iranian model than anything they recognize as conservatism.

If Harper had been in power in 2003, our asses would be alongside yours in bush's excellent iraqi adventure.

Yea, we do need someone to take out the trash. By the way, does canada even have a military?

Is that the part when we went down there and burned your white house to the ground?

You really think that means anything? I wonder how it feels, that if the U.S. really wanted to, we could kick canada's ass...
