West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor Mark Foley resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement.

For $121,000 I would have picked a pretty woman. Mahoney picked a real dog!

Woof!

At least she was a female, and of age.

Why do you think he paid her to shut up?

At least she was a female, and of age.

Quit trying to incite "that one" DR poster.

What the hell is going on in W. Palm Beach? Can't they find a normal person to represent them?

Her face looks like she ate sour cheese.

BLECH!

desperate times call for desperate measures.

For $121K, that woman better be able to suck a golf ball through a garden hose...

This is a non-story. He paid her to avoid a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Besides, $121,000 isn't much money. Can we please focus on more important matters, such as the 40 gazillion dollars that the Bush-Halliburton Administration have wasted or stolen? And how they've lined their pockets with gold while ensuring that the rest of us will be standing in bread lines for decades to come?

You can get that for $10 in Panama. For $121,000 you better be able to suck a golf cart through a garden hose.

[jerks knee appropriately] This is a non-story.

Of course it's a non-story, BlowsTooMuch. He's a Dem. We understand.

All together now: HALLIBURTON!!!! There....feel better?

REV WRIGHT !!!!!!!! :-)

This is so much easier than trying to embed bites into a real post. Bumper sticker postings.

CHENEYBURTON!!!!

Wow, that chick is nasty.

Yeah, you'd think the guy could do better in West Palm.

You'd think he'd do better with his Palm...

Still funny after all these years.....

Politicians sure do get the chicks.

Power is an aphrodisiac.

Unfortunately, it seems that the ones that are attracted to power are also gold diggers.

She was of age when Moses wore short pants.

"you wouldn't mind if I put this cigar....?"

good for you rcade

Wow.

My post #14 was originally post #15...
The original post #14 said "ACORN!!!" (posted by some leftie in response to my HALLIBURTON!! in post #13, I think). The ACORN !! #14 has suddenly been removed.

Are we censoring any references to ACORN now? I know the polls are close, but....RCade: Any idea what gives?

I got dumped once for saying 'typical Jew reaction'. so don't come whining to me.

Dumping is an Art, not a science.

"Senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said."

* * * *

Yeah. Can't have that.

Republicans resign, Democrats work together to make sure their re-election chances aren't hurt.

"Republicans resign, Democrats work together to make sure their re-election chances aren't hurt."

Until it comes to young male pages, eh?

former mistress who worked on his staff

I'll bet she did!! (rim-shot)

But this is his own money, not campaign or tax dollars, right? She's of legal age, right? True he's a liar and a cad, but that really only concerns his family and friends.

Republicans resign, Democrats work together to make sure their re-election chances aren't hurt.

Did David Vitters resign?

How about Larry Craig?

Ted Stevens?

Republicans resign, Democrats work together to make sure their re-election chances aren't hurt.

What Republican resignations? Foley resigned after he verbally raped a bunch of little kids. DeLay resigned after it was learned that his office involved in more criminal conspiracies than the Sopranos. They had to leave office before they were sent to Leavenworth. Republicans cling to power like it's their birthright.

Democrats routinely admit when they have gotten entangled in a bad situation. And when they do admit it, the GOP tries to turn it into political leverage by pressuring people to resign. If a Democrat gets a parking ticket, a Republican will call into question his/her capacity to make or enforce laws. They're always blowing things out of proportion.

where is this story at besides here?i remember the foly scandal was wall to wall coverage for weeks.

Tim,
do you want to swap ? we have the same taste in women.

You will find out the cool-aid you are drinking has a very bitter pill at the bottom.

"Republicans cling to power like it's their birthright."

You seem ignorant of the facts that were already posted - Rahm Emanuel is working to make sure this "incident" doesn't hurt Mahoney's re-election campaign. Are you really this stupid?

I've seen her before. I think she goes by the name Divine and used to hang out with John Waters.

www.imdb.com

A spokesperson for Emanuel denies that account, but said Emanuel did confront Mahoney "upon hearing a rumor" about an affair in 2007 and "told him he was in public life and had a responsibility to act accordingly."

SO i guess that mean lie, cover up, deny, and avoid.

Acting accordingly in public life is having an affair and covering it up.

So we'll see what the good folks WPB think of this asshole. Three weeks to go tomorrow.

At least nobody got killed and we didn't invade a country that never threatened us. The government has wasted money on more frivolous things.

What a hypocrite. He was running on morals meanwhile starting an affair. And, that tape! He is an ass. It's unfortunate, but this seat needs to swing back to the Republicans.

I"m thinking Newt Gingrich, who was trying to unseat a sitting President by claiming the moral high ground - all the while boffing the assistant he left his wife for .... while his wife was in the hospital with cancer - where he announced to her he was leaving. Class act.

Or (insert one of dozens of super duper Moral High Ground Republicans caught with their pants down)

Like a typical politician, Dems and Reps alike, they can talk the talk but cannot walk the walk.

The affair between Mahoney and Allen began, according to the current and former staffers, in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising "a world that is safer, more moral."

I bet the tax payers got off cheap, why don't they look at who these congress representatives paid off and how much for the positions they now occupy.

All this talk about this one woman. But everyone ignores WHY she cut him off... that he had several other affairs going at the same time he was banging her.

And yes, it would be a matter for him and his wife IF he wasn't running on a platform of higher morality. Look at his campaign signs at the time he was banging her, as well as the billboards. Then you will understand that this is what makes it a public matter and not a private one.

Just as Barney Frank living with Moses. If Moses wasn't working for Fannie Mae and designing low income mortgage programs that had to be approved by Barney Frank's Banking Committee then who he was sleeping with would be between the two of them. When their actions affect millions of people's lives and fortunes then it becomes OUR business.

And no, I am not forgetting to include Dick Cheney and Halliburton either. It doesn't matter what party it is when it hurts all Americans. If Sen Craig wants to pick up guys in airport washrooms then that is his business. IF he were doing it with guys doing business with the government it would be a different matter entirely.

audio clip - this guy is one sick puppy!

Here is a perfect example of Democratic and MSM hypocrisy.

Mark Foley, the former congressman from Florida gets run out of town on a rail because he exchanged text messages with a former page, NO SEX INVOLVED. The Dem and the press were having a fit about the corruption of it all until he resigned.

Now Mahoney, who ran a campaign based on returning ETHICS to Washington has an affair with a campaign worker, pays her off with tax payer money and no one is saying a word.

He must know Ayers and ACORN also.

And here is the best part. From the article,

"Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said. "

First notice D-IL, who else do we know with those letters behind their name? Next Emanuel knew about it and tried to cover it up!!!!

My God, if this had been a republician it would have been front page on every newspaper in the country and would have been tied all the way back to Nixon.

Mutt, the story is everywhere now. It looks like the ABC may have broken the story, but now it is everywhere, including NY Times, Wash Post, AP, blogs.

While I think Mahoney should lose his seat over this, this is no where near as bad as Foley hitting on underage pages. That was an abuse of power, underaged children, and just generally gross.

Dem Leaders Knew Mahoney Sex Scandal Was About to Go Public

Perk,

Believe me, I'm not defending Foley. He was shopping for sure, however nothing happend but text messages, thank God.

I just want to see equal treatment in the press and the Congress for Mahoney who paid off this bitch with taxpayer dollars.

"I just want to see equal treatment in the press and the Congress for Mahoney"

Pelosi has already called for an immediate ethics investigation.

"paid off this bitch with taxpayer dollars."

Proof?

Good thing he didn't tap his foot or send emails or he would really be in trouble:)

It's funny how when the individual has a (R) next to their name liberals rant and rave and when it's a (D) they want to get back to issues.

What Foley did was disgusting, What Larry Craig did was disgusting, Tim is not different. He was cheating on his wife and then cheating on his mistress while running his campaign on morale grounds. That makes it public business and not about issues. You guys can make all of the homosexual innuendo's you want, none of these guys were any good. One wasn't better than the other they were all scumbags. We can't justify any of these individuals behaviour.

Lonnie

"Besides, $121,000 isn't much money."

LOL...this entertainment is just fabulous. This guy wants everyone to ignore the taxpayer money and campaign donations that Mahoney paid to this girl to shut her up, but he would have Foley executed for writing nasty emails and craig castrated for foot tapping. In neither case was there any illicit sex or misuse of funds...but then, I guess they were republicans. Do our little leftist-socialist friends have a terrible standard or what?

What is it with you libs and the assumption that politics is a zero sum game.

This guy is a sack of shit.

He'd still be a sack of shit if he had an (R) after his name.

Why are so many of you incapable of calling a spade a spade when he has a (D) after his name?

"This guy wants everyone to ignore the taxpayer money and campaign donations that Mahoney paid to this girl to shut her up"

Any proof it was taxpayer money?

This guy is a sack of shit.

He is a sack of shit.

He would be a sack of shit, no matter his party affiliation.

Why are so many of you incapable of calling a spade a spade when he has a (D) after his name?

While that's not a complete generality it is a pretty wide brush you just painted with. Would you care to cite examples of "SO MANY"? Are you trying to say that Cons always "call a spade a spade", no matter their party affiliation

Whatsleft,

Would you care to cite examples of "SO MANY"?

Sure. Just scroll up and you'll find your answer.

Are you trying to say that Cons always "call a spade a spade", no matter their party affiliation

Nope. The right is hypocritical too.

"That agreement included a $61,000 severance payment, a $60,000 payment for legal fees and an agreement by Ms. Allen not to join any other campaign for at least a year, the staff members said. They said the agreement also involved a promise to Ms. Allen of a job at Fletcher Rowley Chao Riddle, a Nashville firm that handled Mr. Mahoney's advertising."

www.nytimes.com

So, tell me where do you think the money paid to congressional staffers comes from dumbforth.

Don't even think about saying he paid her from personal funds. A Dem politician doesn't even use his own money for hookers, they charge it back on thier expense report and M&I expenses.

"tell me where do you think the money paid to congressional staffers comes from "
"Don't even think about saying he paid her from personal funds."

I don't have to. You haven't proven a thing.

Sure. Just scroll up and you'll find your answer.

I did scroll up. That's why I asked. I think you shot from the hip and missed. You seem to do that a lot lately.
