This is going to piss off Bill O'Reilly, makes my day....Congrats Mr. Krugman, how about Sec. of the Treasury???????

Only 45 minutes late Rcade

John Nash won the Nobel in Econonics in 1994 so this would mark at the least the second they have given that award to a mentaly disturbed person.

Oh gee, validation of Krugman will seriously disturb the right wing reality deniers.

Maybe he can afford to get a more realistic toupee now.

This asswipe deserved the prize about as much as Al Gore did.

"This asswipe deserved the prize about as much as Al Gore did."

Oh, the horror, Greenspan was robbed!

What the hell are you talking about? Put down the bong Danni, it's only 10:30 in the morning.

Put down the bong Danni, it's only 10:30 in the morning.

It is part of an obsession she has with "all things republican".

Funny you only sight Danni when she was posting in Response...

"What the hell are you talking about?"

If you don't know it sort of reveals your lack of knowledge about economics.
Think about it now, what could my comment be hinting at?????
Come on, think hard, you can do it.....

Is that medal real gold?

I wonder where Ray's been? I genuinely hope he's okay.

Considering their responses-spot on-Danni....

Think about it now, what could my comment be hinting at?????
Come on, think hard, you can do it.....

That your ridiculous attempts to frame me as partisan, even though no one on this site has railed against the Federal Reserve more than me, show your complete lack of thoughtfulness on any issue from any perspective other than the left is good/right is bad paradigm?

I think that about sums it up, eh?

What, no more prizes for neofascist neocon Chicago School guys?!?!? Has the committee gone soft & red? Will any GOP dinos pull their small heads from their large anuses and peer bleakly at reality? Will they acknowledge that unregulated commerce is raw theft?

"even though no one on this site has railed against the Federal Reserve more than me,"

That is really a different topic, the Fed has been useful when not used as a political tool as Greenspan did. Probably his misuse of the system is, though, a good argument against it. However, Bernanke should not have to bare the blame for this economic melt down engineered by his predecessor.
Eliminating the FED or more likely nationalizing it would be a good idea though.

"Will they acknowledge that unregulated commerce is raw theft?"

No because all the righties like to pretend that "everyone is to blame" rather than admit that it was the right wing supply side folks who have destroyed our economy.

Will they acknowledge that unregulated commerce is raw theft?

Crazy. Paul Krugman? Next thing you know, they'll be giving the peace prize to . . . I dunno. Yassir Arafat or somebody.

Krugman is another of the brilliant economists who predicted the current mess perfectly right after it happened.

"Krugman is another of the brilliant economists who predicted the current mess perfectly right after it happened."

Not quite, dummy.

"Paul Krugman, New York Times columnist

Krugman has been warning about the dangers of the housing bubble for years, and the terrible toll it could take on the economy when it pops. Here is a Krugman warning from August 29, 2005:

These days Mr. Greenspan expresses concern about the financial risks created by "the prevalence of interest-only loans and the introduction of more-exotic forms of adjustable-rate mortgages." But last year he encouraged families to take on those very risks, touting the advantages of adjustable-rate mortgages and declaring that "American consumers might benefit if lenders provided greater mortgage product alternatives to the traditional fixed-rate mortgage.

If Mr. Greenspan had said two years ago what he's saying now, people might have borrowed less and bought more wisely. But he didn't, and now it's too late. There are signs that the housing market either has peaked already or soon will. And it will be up to Mr. Greenspan's successor to manage the bubble's aftermath.

How bad will that aftermath be? The U.S. economy is currently suffering from twin imbalances. On one side, domestic spending is swollen by the housing bubble, which has led both to a huge surge in construction and to high consumer spending, as people extract equity from their homes. On the other side, we have a huge trade deficit, which we cover by selling bonds to foreigners. As I like to say, these days Americans make a living by selling each other houses, paid for with money borrowed from China.

One way or another, the economy will eventually eliminate both imbalances. "

That Hissing Sound

By PAUL KRUGMAN
Published: August 8, 2005
This is the way the bubble ends: not with a pop, but with a hiss.

Housing prices move much more slowly than stock prices. There are no Black Mondays, when prices fall 23 percent in a day. In fact, prices often keep rising for a while even after a housing boom goes bust.
So the news that the U.S. housing bubble is over won't come in the form of plunging prices; it will come in the form of falling sales and rising inventory, as sellers try to get prices that buyers are no longer willing to pay. And the process may already have started.

Of course, some people still deny that there's a housing bubble. Let me explain how we know that they're wrong.

Does Anyone have even a hint as what he is attempting (sic) to say?

You are the idiot sir. 2005 was already too late. I had already moved most of my investments to fixed rate before this.

Gosh, Krugman figured out in 2005 that people were borrowing too much. Wow, what a genius!!!!

I think even Bush had warned about this before Krugman.

let me explain the nuance to you

the liar obama has been with people like jwright and ayers and johnson and rich all of his political life and IF he is elected it will be paypack time

I guess ayers will be secty of education.......

and someone from acorn will surely have a spot since there will be millions of votes coming from them.........even if they only have THOUSANDS of names

like the 7 year old girl I heard this morning was REGISTERED TO VOTE Like 27 times.

and another young person told of TWO acorn people following teenagers around the neighborhood and BOTH of them signing people up.......THE SAME PEOPLE.......
of course THAT doesnt matter since they were black and even to JUST RAISE the subject is rascist on my part...............dont you know????????

"Does Anyone have even a hint as what he is attempting (sic) to say?"

No, he's off the ramp! Like McCain he lost a wheel, we should pray for him!

you only say that because you know I am speaking the truth about voter fraud and acorn and because of the shady people obama has surrounded himself with, we should be worried IF he wins who he will put in positions of power

for instance

if he is elected and on that day...

will rev wright give the opening prayer?????

and will he include a little god damn america or tell us that 9/11 was our fault...........

Lately, the Nobel Prize has been handed out as consolation prizes.....

Evidence:

Al Gore lost bid for the Presidency and got awarded Nobel Prize.

And now Krugman receiving the same --- this time to embarass Bush. Good timing!

Looks like a bunch of liberals have taken over the Nobel Prize cause. Sad. Loss of credibility.

Sour grapes? Hell, I don't even like grapes!
- Takitez

"And now Krugman receiving the same --- this time to embarass Bush. Good timing!"

Absurd comment. Bush has already embarrassed himself into sub-Nixonian approval ratings. No further assistance required.

The liberal agenda overriding the Nobel Prize committee is no secret, and no news. Intelligent people have already suspected their ulterior motives and they are right on.

Sad to see this being dragged into partisan political agenda favoring the liberals.

Another conflation of fact vs. opinion for Takitez

A den of liberals.

"GROW UP MOTHER FUCKER!!!!"

Ahh, the time honored "Self Retorting Retort".

Fun fact:

Dynamite() was invented By Alfred Nobel.

"Dynamite() was invented By Alfred Nobel."

Did you just find that out?

Nope. Been common knowledge since i was in 3rd grade. Moms, a RN with a BA in Chemistry so I got to hear all this stuff from a early age. Just find it ironic when it comes to the Peace Prize, but this whole thing is over the Prize for Economics but i digress.

"Been common knowledge since i was in 3rd grade."

Good. You had me worried there.

IIRC
It was the guilt from the worst results of his enormously profitable discovery that caused him to create the foundation to fund the prize.

After all, high explosives can be quite useful.

I think even Bush had warned about this before Krugman.

Prove it. Put up or shut up.

BTW, are you saying that a republican controlled house and white house knew there was a huge problem but did nothing about it? That would be scandalous!

By the sound of these posts from the Rethugs on DR, its sounds like you repressive middle-aged white men are trying to fight you're way out of a corner. Your ideologies that you were brainwashed by the Reagan years are really coming home to roost and you're middle life crises are really becoming intensified. Have any of you "fossils" come to grips yet that Reaganomics failed? Does it bother you that Milton Friedman was full of shit? You've had your chance to make a change, but it's too late. Grim reaper is knocking on you're door.

They gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Jimmy Carter (the guy with the blood of 20 million on his meddling hands) just to poke Bush in the eye.

Little surprise that during an economic crisis they politicize the process again and give this prize to an economic imbecile like Krugman

" give this prize to an economic imbecile like Krugman

#50 | Posted by vernon "

Yeah! Let's ignore this imbecile and let blogger, er, Nobel prize winner Vernon tell it like it is.

It always baffles me that it took about 30 years to get to this economic stealin and those who practiced the patience to this point now want the very people they stole from to bail them out right now.

I see no reason to bail them out at all, just allowing those thieves to steal there money again.

I liked Krugman's response to the suggestion that the Nobel went to him because of his criticisms of the Bush administration:

"Nobel prizes are given to intellectuals; A lot of intellectuals are anti-Bush."

That's classic Krugman- simple, straightforward and exactly correct.

WHAT A SCHAM!
