It used to be that Catholics nearly always voted for Democrats and that liberalism was a semi-Christian political outlook. When abortion and homoselxuality became Democratic foundational issues, Catholics strayed. Now, it seems, the GOPs far right-wing's failing foreign policy and domestic economic policies positions have been driving Catholics and other middle-of-the-road Christians away.

Why does the media insist on "profiling" individuals who are voting for Obama, forcing his allegedly universal appeal down everyone's throats? The latest polls show Obama leading by somewhere between 5-8 points, which probably means about 50 Million people will vote for McCain. Based on articles I've seen in the last few months, however, it is my understanding that the only candidate with old, young, party-switching, and unique supporters is Obama, and that none of the 50,000,000 people voting for McCain are interesting, or even exist. Why?

Anyone who is considering voting for McCain is seriously deranged. The GOP continues to try to divide the country on wedge issues such as abortion. However, the scope and depths of the problems facing the country (i.e. financial meltdown, losing 2 wars, looming energy shortage, bankruptcy and starvation) means that such wedge issues don't have as much effect. Naturally, there's some morons who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and insist on voting for McCain. There was a story in Pittsburgh papers that indicated McCain held a lead in one rural PA county because the people there are racist and believe Obama is a Muslin.

At least some people, such as this nun, have the courage to say that they are casting a proper vote for a clearly superior candidate.

There's only a handful of tools that McCain can use to win the election.

1.) Fear

If you can make the population afraid of Obama, maybe they'll vote for McCain instead. Maybe try invoking the notion that he's less experienced than McCain... or maybe point out that he's black. (I can see it now-- [Spooky Voice] Would you let your teenage daughter date a black man? If you wouldn't trust your daughter with a black man, how can you trust the whole country with him?)

2.) Hatred

If you can make the population hate Obama, maybe they'll vote for McCain instead. Hint that maybe he's a secret Muslim operative -- they'll think of 9-11 and vote for McCain instead. Lie about his tax plan and make everyone think that he's going to steal your money and they'll hate him too. (This commerical is also easy to make-- [Spooky Voice] Black people steal. Barack Obama wants to raise taxes and steal all your money. You'd better not vote for him.)

3.) Outright Theft

Tactics #1 and #2 failed in 2000 and 2004, so they just plain stole the election. If it looks like the other side might prevail, just sue them. Or maybe get your Supreme Court pals to issue an injunction that orders the states to vote for you.
