An Associated Press review of Sarah Palin's record reveals her use of elected office to promote religious causes, sometimes at taxpayer expense. Since she took state office in late 2006, the governor and her family have spent more than $13,000 in taxpayer funds to attend at least 10 religious events and meetings with Christian pastors.

Tax[ayers=Taxpayers. SRI.

White trash religulous Palin!

So many threads about her, guess the PDS goes on.

The first family is in trouble with the IRS for not paying taxes on that perdiem of 62,000 she got for running the state from Wasilla instead of Juneau, the state capitol. She had to chase all those kids around and try and keep her son out of trouble from cutting anymore brake lines out of school buses.

JOEL

There's her claiming per diem and travel to go to church too.

She's a real piece of work for a 'reformer'.

I think this would be called "waste-ful spending" by McNasty and would have to be cut out.

I guess they just don't have Glass Houses in Alaska.

What a great piece of John McCain's "maverick" judgment she turned out to be.

Obama never welcomed the endorsement the way McLame did Pastor John "The Hate Machine" Hagee's.

Obama has also called unFarrakhan an anti-semite.

I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan.

When will Palin and McCain follow suit with their anti-semitic religious endorsers?

Oh right... NEVER!

You moron, nobody cares! Our financial world is crumbling around us and you're worried because Farrakhan endorses Obama? Did Obama ask for the endorsment? It's more to the point that, while wailing on Wall Street's greed and fraud, you sticky (is that the same as teflon) buddy Palin was screwing the Alaska taxpayers out of thousands and thousands of dollars.

guess they just don't have Glass Houses in Alaska.

Igloos made outta clear ice are pretty similar.

Be Well.

NEWSWEEK has no credibility. AP is hypocritical.

They are hiding Obama's background on using drugs and being endorsed by America hater Farrakhan --- and yet has the time to dig out Palin's use of money.

I told you so.

NEWSWEEK HAS NO CREDIBILITY!

guess they just don't have Glass Houses in Alaska.

Well, they really aren't very effecient in those cold winters....

One thing I do admit about NEWSWEEK is that its a source of comfort for the angry left --- providing a steady diet of one-side news.

In God We Trust.

McCain didn't vet her, so somebody has to.

This happens everywhere. Governors and mayors all the time are asked to deliver invocations, go to pastors' conferences, deliver speeches at religious colleges. Big deal.

Here our mayor is a black democrat, who makes it a point to attend every one of these things. He's asked to speak at half of them. How many Secret Service dollars were plowed into the William Jefferson Clinton Public Image Rehabilitation Campaign, where he spent every weekend at church? How many churches has Hillary spoken to?

On matters of fairness in covering the candidates, sure FOX has been soft on Sarah, but in comparison to NEWSWEEK (and TIME), FOX is steak dinner and NEWSWEEK is dogfood --- that's how low and unfair Newsweeek has stooped down.

Palin also submitted $998 in expenses for a June trip to Anchorage that included a bill signing at Congregation Beth Shalom synagogue, the only non-Christian house of worship she has visited since taking office, according to the McCain campaign.

Wow. Haul her off to the guillotine.

"They are hiding Obama's background on using drugs and being endorsed by America hater Farrakhan --- and yet has the time to dig out Palin's use of money."

Posted by the clueless douchebag...

Really? You really think that's a fair and balanced statement? Then you are disregarding the fact that most Americans already know about his past drug abuse (by him admitting it himself in his book) and could care less, considering most Americans also have past drug use, or shall we go into the discussion of "did he steal money from charity to buy illegal drugs to feed his addiction?", which of course, he didn't, but somebody named McCain did.

Meanwhile, you conveniently ignore Palin's ties (and marriage and speeches) to secessionists (having been to Alaska, I assure you, they hate America), her bold-faced lie that she's a "hockey mom" when in fact she mother to a delinquent, and then, again, you are focusing on the fact the Farrakhan endorsed Obama, who turned around and rejected said endorsement as some kind of indictment that we should give a half a flying f@ck about.

Are you really that thick? Or are you just a desperate troll? Either way, it's sad.

A spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, Maria Comella, said the state paid for Palin's travel and meals on that trip, and for other meetings with Christian groups, because she and her family were invited in their official capacity as Alaska's first family. Parnell did not charge the state a per diem or ask to be reimbursed for travel expenses that day.

"I understand the per diem policy is, I can claim it if I am away from my residence for 12 hours or more. And Anchorage is where my residence is and I'm based from. And this trip took about four hours of driving time and time at the event, so I did not claim per diem for this one," Parnell told the AP.
* * * *

Not good enough. She needs to be shot. It's perfectly OK for Joe Biden to attend overseas junkets, and for Chris Dodd and Barney Frank to accept hundreds of thousands of dollars from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in return for the taxpayer getting screwed. But $13,000 over three years to attend functions that were conducted in churches or seminaries or synagogues? WTF is she thinking--that she's a liberal democrat?

Quick question: what has cost the taxpayers of Alaska--and every other damn place, for that matter--more? Governor Palin's per-diem to address Christian groups, missionaries, and bill signings at synagogues? Or Barney Frank's incestuous relationship with Fannie Mae, with which he refused to allow them to be regulated away from subprime lending?

Godalmighty. $13,000 for Governor Palin--which is about one fourth the loss on one (single) bad Fannie Mae loan, out of millions.

Still, you libdouches have your priorities straight.

Revjack, you do have a point, but you missed to include how Muslims view Obama as their 'brother' --- specially Khadafi.

Look, I'm against the liberal media playing dirty: you should relook at the way they have been insulting Sarah, but I doubt you can be objective at this point.

I would be supporting Obama had he been a conservative, but he is not. His brand of liberalism is ultimately intolerant of dissent.

An amazing fact about the McCain vetting process of Sarah Palin revealed that although not openly reported but none the less totally true and believed by nearly all Republicans is...

Almost unbelievable folks but here is the hard truth !!!!

Sarah Palin's shit does not stink.... I repeat...Her shit does not stink !!!!

And then you say THAT? Again, WTF do endorsements have to do with this? I could give a crap if Hitler endorsed him, it DOESN'T MATTER! Worse people are currently endorsing McCain.

For the rest of us logical types, we're going to continue to look at the candidate, not his fans. The candidate is qualified, farmore than his opponent, and in fact, to most people, he looks GREAT!

Now find me one single instance where I'm not being objective.

Sorry Rev-

That subject is not on my talking point lists. Being objective is a terrorist act.

Palin is more popular than McCain as people like her, so no surprise of all these negative threads. If McCain is tough on Obama than the media will get tough on Palin...lol

I caqn't believe the right continues to support this woman as being ethical or intelligent enough to be one heartbeat from the Presidency.

I guess they just want Bush not to be the worst.

McCain's numbers are falling faster than any of his planes, even FOX has him down by 7.

Of Course FOX is the liberal media....

Palin is Evil.

It's only in his autobiography.

Barak should be praying Palin doesn't drop out. If McCain picked up a legitimate running mate it would be bye-bye Barak.

No, but if you are elected as a "reformer maverick" governor ya can bill the taxpayers for them and the cost of the tailgate parties. Hell step up to a luxury suite, the taxpayers say you deserve it.

Obama costs taxpayers thousands of dollars when he attends church.

In comparison, Sarah Palin visited thoses churches as Governor and costs taxpayers too little. Saving money! You go girl!

You surely must realize that Palin costs an equal amount while she's a candidate. Right?

My point is for liberals to stop this hypocritical issue: If you blame Palin, blame Obama as well. Goose and Geese.

You need to realize that 'liberal' by the 60's definition is a small percentage of voters no matter how much Sean and Rush would like you to believe they're everywhere (seems you'll believe anything they say)

More partisan stupidity.. Who cares about this? Most of you don't care when millions of dollars in pork are added to an unconstitutional bailout.. You only care when the other party is doing it.. Never mind the fact that our entire government belongs in jail.

I realized that Obama is not that good of a writer, after all. Ayers is a good writer and he helped Obama in writing 'Dreams from MY Father' (Worldnetdaily).

The audio book edition of Dreams From My Father earned Obama the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.

Columnist Joe Klein stated in an article about Obama for Time that the book "may be the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."[5]

The Chronicle of Higher Education listed the book as the # 1 bestseller at college campuses during the Spring 2008 semester.

In June 2005, Obama purchased a $1.65 million Georgian revival home on Chicago's South Side$300,000 less than the asking price.

How about $300,000?

A house has been for sale for quite some time. Someone makes an offer on it and the sellers accept because they've already bought another house and need to sell it.

Just imagine if that ever happened in the real world.

A house has been for sale for quite some time. It has vacant land next to it. They want to sell both together. They agree to sell the vacant land at full price to a rich developer while selling the home for 300k less than list to an upcoming
local politician.

Just imagine if you could get that deal in the real world.

"Someone makes an offer on it and the sellers accept because they've already bought another house and need to sell it."

Actually "someone" makes 3 increasingly higher offers until they hit a price the sellers can live with.

Of course, no one on earth has ever heard of selling a home for 15% less than original asking price, right?

ELCID

Funny. I did just that myself. Nice lot too. 100 year old Oak tree, couple of Walnut trees. The rest grass. I like it.

SEEKER

If ELCID doesn't know about making offers and negotiating all kinds of things when buying a house he's never bought a house.

My wife and I negotiated all kinds of things when we bought our current house.

ELCID also doesn't know the owners wouldn't sell one without the other, Obama paid full market rate for his strip of land, and Rezko sold his remaining parcel for market price. ELCID doesn't know two adjoining parcels are two separate transactions in obtaining a mortgage. I had to come up with cash for the lot next door. The bank gave us a mortgage for the house and land it sat on. They, as in Obama's situation, were zoned separately.

They, as in Obama's situation, were separate parcels and transactions.

The lot and the lot/house we own.

Did he bill the taxpayers for it?

I personally paid less than the asking price from my home as well. Does that make me criminal?

I am not going to waste time on the argument - you know what happened between obammy and his criminal buddy. Not the same as arguing down the price of a home with a lower offer and you know it. Who cares. If you support obama he can do no wrong, if you don't he can do no right. Same old story - thanks GWB and the MSM for driving a wedge between americans.

is el cid el insane? he argues about obama then blames bush? party of personal responsibility at it's best.
el cid says hey i'm only arguing because gwb drive a wedge between americans.
brilliant!

i think that elcid is right on about the wedge anyway

The political rhetoric is unbecoming.

Agreed there, money.

There probably wasn't anything illegal about Palin billings to the State of Alaska so it's not really an issue except to nit-pickers. Politics in Alaska seem to be a little more free wheeling than the lower 48 anyway.

The way she's handled her role as McCain's pitbull has been a real plus for Obama. He didn't have to do anything except sit back and let her self-destruct.

I see three good things about McCain's imminent defeat. 1) Karl Rove's reputation as a "president maker" will go down in flames. 2) The neo-cons and their quest for World Domination by Military Force (PNAC) will cease to exist. 3) Sarah Palin will be remembered by history as a bad example ~ or perhaps in somebody's "How Not To" book of political blunders.

R.I.P. to all.

Make the attacks truthful and I will have no need to defend her.
