If George Washington had been made monarch, one Texas family would be American royalty today.

And the entire bush gang would have been tried, convicted, and executed for conspiring against the Monarchy. How.......ironic....

Lynch up Lou Dobbs to. This foul mouthed self appointed patriot has become a mouthpiece for the Republican party and John McSame.

Are you shitting me?
How many liberal soft-pieces have been pedeled about the debauched Kennedy family being American royalty?
Quite a number of them. Enough to make me puke.
Ode to Camelot! [hurl]

In today's context, to be a law-abiding billionaire under a Republic is better than being a King.
With all the conveniences and the services they can buy, rich people today live better than kings of the past.

Damn you, Washington!
"But Washington, who believed that anyone (anyone!) might make for a good leader..."
Look what your crazy ideas gave us: W.
Well, I guess he said "might", not would....

What would that make the Bush family?

I did my genealogy a while ago and found out some fun stuff. On my father's side, which is rife with drunken Irish hotheads who usually kick off in their early 50s, I found that I shared a great-grandfather with president James Polk (who died in HIS early 50s, though I dunno if he drank or not). Now I told this to my old man before he died and he REFUSED to accept that he was related to any Democrats, LOL! Also he said that our surname wasn't the same as Polk's, and so I explained to him that his grandfather, a perpetually soused saddlemaker from North Carolina who like Edgar Poe, died drunk in a Baltimore alleyway one fine morning, wrote it wrong because he was pretty much illiterate (though rumor had it he didn't have to read the proof on a bottle, his nose would tell him what it said).
Through my mother's side, a respectable line of physicians from Virginia, I am directly related to the guy who invented chapstick, LOL!
I always wondered how my mom coulda stooped so low to marry my perpetually pickled father!

" president James Polk (who died in HIS early 50s, though I dunno if he drank or not) "
He didn't. Sam Houston once accused him of "using water as a beverage."

"He didn't. Sam Houston once accused him of "using water as a beverage.""
LOL! He died of cholera! Probably by drinking bad WATER! Serves him right! He shoulda stuck to whiskey!
That being said now that I've revealed my relation to the guy who started the Mexican war, I'd better watch my back next week when I'm in Mission, Texas for the butterfly festival!

It's good to be king, if just for a while. To be there in velvet, yeah, to give 'em a smile.

The guy looks mellow enough that he'd probably be a decent guy to go fishing with or to have a beer at the pub with. And his IQ and courage are probably at an acceptable level. But this still doesn't make him a leader. (And even if he'd been given a line of coaches dating back to the 1790s, he probably wouldn't be any better than any other politician from Texas. -- Then, again, I can think of 2 Texans that are leading the country that he probably could be better than.)
