A Gibsonville, N.C., parking lot owner has enacted a new rule for his business: No parking if you have a Barack Obama sticker on your car.

Hah, this happened in NC. No surprise.

It's currently 49-48 in favor of McCain here now.

www.electoral-vote.com

The video is hilarious. Lookit the crybabies trying to say he can't have free speech in his own lot.

It's not a matter of free speech- it's a matter of discrimination. Like saying 'we don't serve your kind here.' If that happens you should be crying out loud.

The sign itself is physically a form of free speech. What's written on it suggests an illegal practice.

I think it's time for an old-fashioned park-in.

What is missing from that man is a brain and his white hood.

No parking for Obama supporter? Not nice. Not legal too.

My biz partner (Obama supporter) came by and was surprised to see McCain/Palin sign on my yard. I told him, "My spouse did it.".

A recent e-mail I received:

Subject: Re: The Parking Ticket

The other day I went downtown to run a few errands. I went into the local coffee shop for a snack. I was only there for about 5 minutes. When I came out, there was this cop writing out a parking ticket. I said to him, "Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break?"

He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. His insensitivity annoyed me, so I called him a "doughnut eating android." He glared at me and then wrote out another ticket for having worn tires.

So I proceeded to call him "ticket-writing robot in blue." He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he wrote a third ticket. This went on for about 10 minutes. The more I talked back to him the more tickets he wrote.

Personally, I didn't really care. I came downtown on the bus. The car that he was putting the tickets on had one of those bumper stickers that said, "McCain - Palin".

I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. The doctor tells me that it's important for my health.

North Carolina? Nah, can't be. What a joke the South continues to be. When Obama becomes President, even odds that the South brings back the KKK, Jim Crow and Lynchings.

Afrophobism gone wild.

Watching the video, the guy owning the lot appears to have an agreement for state employees to park there. If he gets a dime from the state, that could seriously spell trouble.

I had a garage sale a few years ago and posted a sign that Ranger fans had to pay double. A few people laughed but most everyone else just didn't give a shit. A few months ago, members of our military were denied parking on public streets in San Francisco. I'm a middle of the road guy that can't be lumped in with the left or the right. But this is why I can't stand liberals. Double standards.

Typical Republican hatred.

The State Employees who park there should go elsewhere, along with everyone else and see how fast this turd goes broke.

Some one needs to knock him the fuck out.

North Carolina? Nah, can't be. What a joke the South continues to be. When Obama becomes President, even odds that the South brings back the KKK, Jim Crow and Lynchings.

Sounds like the Selma Bus boycotts of the 50's and 60's. Things changed fast when Whitey realized they needed the "coloreds" money to survive.

It's not a matter of free speech- it's a matter of discrimination. Like saying 'we don't serve your kind here.' If that happens you should be crying out loud.

You know what would help... this whole thread? If any of you would take a few seconds to watch the video.

He never said he'd enforce it. In fact, many of the cars in the lot had such stickers on them. It is freedom of speech. If you want to, you can even put up a sign that says "No Black People Allowed", and so long as you don't actually hold to it (I wouldn't recommend it however, you'd just be ASKING FOR vandalism)

It is, wholly and utterly, a free speech issue. Am I the only person who actually follows up on the articles and links posted to stories? Does everyone else just kneeejerk based on the headline title?

Give Redsox a break. Boston has more ugly women per capita than any other city in the Western hemisphere.

Frankly, Boston is one of the few places that I hope Islam catches on. "Women of cover"--there--would be a noticeable improvement.

Soheifox-

You're quite a piece of work. Oh, and nice analogy - it looks good on you.

And you don't understand Freedom of Speech.

Absolutely no charges of any kind can be brought against him unless he actually tries to discriminate in selling his services. This is not the same by a longshot as there being such a sign at a place where people actually work. There's, as of yet, nothing illegal about a "hostile parking environment".

This guy is also inviting vandalism and boycotts, but nothing can be LEGALLY done. Just because you don't _like_ what is written on someone's sign, there's still, as of yet, nothing prohibiting it. Do you understand? My analogy is 100% accurate.

This man is providing me with endless amount of amusement, because he is, quite accurately, pointing out a flaw in our laws. I'm sure it'll be closed soon enough, but until legislation is convened about this, it's just a bunch of crybabies trying to take away his Freedom of Speech. And the fact that you try to take a superior attitude, yet don't understand how Freedom of Speech works, does nothing except increase my amusement.

Or, to put it simpler, if you don't like how a place is decorated, you can take your business elsewhere.

If the people paying him dislike it, they will stop paying him. Another thing most people on this thread, and likely you as well, seem to misunderstand is this: Just because someone's business takes money from the government, that does not mean their business has become public property.
This man's parking lot is no more beholden to the public then a Dunkin' Donuts is for serving cops.

Now, back to the decoration, which is, legally, all this is... unless that decoration actually violates any laws, your only choice is to get the law changed, go away, or develop a sense of humor. I suppose they could also file a BBB claim about misleading signage, but that's about it.

Sohei-
Your analogy reflects the poison in your character, but I digress. I have no wish to see this deeply flawed individual prosecuted for expressing his deeply flawed character with his sign anymore than I wish to see you silenced.

Sohei-
Your analogy reflects the poison in your character

Nice secondary attempt at setting yourself up as superior, but I think I have proven myself more liberal then most here on issues of race, homosexuality, and social issues. The analogy speaks aptly to the situation, as racism is exactly what is implied by the schnozzhead. Just to get people riled up. Mission successful, and it's laughable.

Quit projecting your own obsession with skin color onto others.

SoHei-
I understand that you can be a bit slow, so please tell me where I said that this man did not have the right to be a complete jackass on his own property.

Additionally, you are free to be a jackass as well, and you seem to claim that right with verve - even on a private lot not owned by you.

Ahh. Insulting me again and then resorting to the stupid semantics game now are you? Just do us all a favor and shut the hell up. You aren't contributing anything useful to this thread, you're just in here trying to feel superior to others and pick a fight.

Soheifox-
I'm quite shamed that I ever SAID that your statement that, If you want to, you can even put up a sign that says "No Black People Allowed", and so long as you don't actually hold to it (I wouldn't recommend it however, you'd just be ASKING FOR vandalism) could in any way be considered racist.

(Oh, wait, I didn't say that. You must have known!)

Sohei-
You accused me of being against the rights of jackasses to be jackasses, and I'm simply not. BTW, if by "semantics game" you mean that "verbiage" and words have meaning, then I'm guilty as charged.

yeah that's right.. we all believe the same you fucking retard.

Ill mannered?!?!?! On contrary "L", if we don't like you we just tell you to fuck off to your face. Like, hey Legio, go fuck yourself. However, I say that lovingly. You see, in the short history of our country, the South is the cradle of Racism, but I guess you're not man enough to own up to that fact to denounce it. Some habits are hard to die. And to be honest, this whole southern gentleman, good manners is a phony act. Please. So when your forefathers were whipping a black person or tearing apart their families it was done with "good manners" and "lovingly". Please save the bullshit for one of your own. The only southerner that will see salvation for his soul is Morris Dees. And that's it!! Give me another southern boy that has fought for equality and justice. Good luck. And fuck you.

Okay, fine. I made a completely accurate analogy about how a jerk put a racist sign up, pointing out he could, quite legally, just come out and say it directly.

You were the first person to accuse anyone here at the Drudge of being racist, despite the statement being clearly valid. Here's a headsup for you, making a snide remark at the expense of the likely-racist but legally-clean douchebag doesn;t indicate racism on the part of the remark-maker. Why do you think it does? Do you have a pre-occupation with calling people racists?

Hmm.

Let's have a quick glance through your post history. If my memory serves correctly, you are always amongst the first to accuse others of racism.
/

Dinsey-
It does seem strange that you are hyper-concerned about blacks voting fraudulently (find some cases of actual in-person voter fraud at the polls), but blithely dismissive of the documented fact that tens of thousands of ACTUAL ELIGIBLE voters are being purged from the registration rolls (See thread topic article).

WhatsLeft-
Google ACORN with a qualifier, such as "ACORN workers and bonuses for registration forms", or something like that. If you just Google "ACORN", you'll get pages of the usual suspects ranting about how the black/brown hordes are stealing elections and making American unsafe for "real Americans".

...yep. Looks like my memory served correctly. How about you get over it and quit trying to accuse everyone who disagrees with you of being "secretly racist"? A google search for ACORN comes up primarily with liberal sites _accusing those who dislike ACORN_ of being racist.

It's an infantile tactic. You should pick a new one. It's as useless as the one comparing people to Nazis. It's meant to discredit the opposing person, and not their argument. Grow up.

I treat bOoB that way, because he has earned it. You treat _everyone who disagrees with you_ that way, because.... ? We'll need you to fill in the blank, because, unlike you, I don't claim to be able to read people's hidden thoughts.

Sohei-
Point to where I said that this jackass didn't have a right to be a jackass on his own property. (I'm sorry, are the words that I've actually typed off-limits as a clever game of "semantics"?)

Sohei-

Your argument was this:

And you don't understand Freedom of Speech.

I don't understand where you got that, as I never claimed that this jackass couldn't be a jackass. I don't see what your past grievances have to do with this.

Sohei-
Sure. Let's get into that territory if you wish.

What did you mean by this:

If you want to, you can even put up a sign that says "No Black People Allowed", and so long as you don't actually hold to it (I wouldn't recommend it however, you'd just be ASKING FOR vandalism)

Care to clue me in?

... I see in addition to educating you about Freedom of Speech, I have to educate you about the semantics game as well.

When you are in a discussion about a subject, and you attack someone who is defending the subject's actions you are, by presumption, also attacking the subject they are defending.

Now, if you argue want to argue semantics, you did not _directly_ attack the subject. However, that only leaves you as coming here to insult me just for the sake of insulting me. How, exactly, does that make your actions _better_? If that's the case, then you're just in here misunderstanding what's going on and calling people secretly racist because you feel like calling people secretly racist.

1. You never told me how anything I've said was, or could be interpreted to be, contrary to the First Amendment, though you continue to pretend that is the case.

You didn't explain this statement

If you want to, you can even put up a sign that says "No Black People Allowed", and so long as you don't actually hold to it (I wouldn't recommend it however, you'd just be ASKING FOR vandalism)

I clearly did. In the very first paragraph of the 1:31 post.

Your reading comprehension is far too low for me to wish to continue this discussion. Take it as an insult if you want, but in my view it's an amply demonstrated fact, due to you repeatedly asking me to repeat myself. Saying "that isn't a response!!!" is, in itself, not a response. You have to offer some reason or proof why my posts were "not responses". Saying something over and over without offering a reason does not make it the truth.

Good night.

Sohei-
You haven't stated how anything I've said is contrary to, or lacks an understanding of, the First Amendment, as you have charged twice.

You also haven't explained what you meant by your statement regarding blacks and vandalism.

Sohei-
re: I clearly did. In the very first paragraph of the 1:31 post.

Nope.

And the regression of the human race continues.

What was the sticker problem again?

Sorry, if that sign is considered an official set of rules for the patrons, it's about as free speech as yelling fire in a theatre- or inciting vandalism. NOT covered by the first amendment.

Unless that guy is there to tell every parker he wont enforce his policy, there should be another sign saying this sign wont be adhered to.

I just love how the supposed party of God goes out of their way to display behavior that is far from the best of what humankind has to offer. Be it the parking guy or the posters defending his dumbass actions.

The main problem with the analogy is you cannot discriminate on the basis of race, no matter who you are, regardless of the theory of private property ownership (which I guess we will get to enjoy for a few more months). However, you CAN discriminate on the basis of politics. Saying that I will not allow you on my property if you support a viewpoint that I find offensive is not actionable discrimination.

Although it is interesting how quickly the thread attempts to compare opposition to the simian candidate to opposition to his race, after all, we can't possibly be opposed to the politics or ideas (or lack there of). There would be no reason to oppose someone who wants to raise taxes, meet with terrorist leaders, has friends that have committed terrorists acts against this country, that sued to force Citibank to make high risk loans in bad areas, and whose wife has never been proud of America for the office of president?

Has it occurred to anyone else that maybe ole Jeremiah Wright was correct about the almighty damning America? He is going to do it through the election of Obama bin Laden as president. This should sufficiently punish us for the next four years.

As to the issue of vandalism, I have a question for Sohe. When I look at the lessons of LA (Rodney King Verdict), Katrina, and countless other actions by the black community (including the threats that have been and continue to be made concerning what may happen if Curious barack did not get the nod and ultimately is not elected) when things don't go their way, it seems that it would be a fair statement to say that they don't react well when things don't go their way. Why is that racist?

#15 | Posted by Legio

Damn Legio, Go get them!

Why shoot yourself so quickly in your argument?

YAV whatever do you mean? It has been fair game for the past eight years to call the leader of the opposition a monkey (the smirking chimp, chimpy, chimpy mcfuckup, etc.) Wasn't racist then and it isn't now.

Oh, Gawd, another Jonhson-in-the-werks. Can't beat those second-year law school students when it comes to the amusement factor.

"Doc",

Here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is. Let's hear a case where the Plaintiff sued and won on the basis of purely political discrimination.

Like I said, you can't beat second-year law students for sheer comedic relief. But if you're going to do a run at Johnson's title---Airbag of the Day---you'll need to harnass just a tad bit more methane.

if we don't like you we just tell you to fuck off to your face.

Doc,

You would appear more graceful if you would merely concede that you are wrong and haven't got a clue how the law works. Bottom line, if I were a second year law student, you would still be out matched.

What a douchebag this guy is. He won't stop people from parking if they do have an Obama sticker. What a pussy. He needs a flatiron upside his head.

Racism in North Carolina?

Say it aint so!

That's news all right, ...old news.

This parking lot racist thought he was being funny?

Prolly used to giggle at lynchings too.

He sed he was "offended" by the idea of Obama running fer POTUS but he never went on to elaborate.

Spud thinks he can figure it out w/o any additional details.

Free Speech exists but consequence free speech does not.

This fucker oughta learn this fer true.

This is purely a free speech issue. If you watched two seconds of this parking lot owning jackass, you'll do far more by ignoring him and letting his hatred eat him up from the inside than giving him the attention he so desperately desires.

Legio- Go play your Banjo before I make you squeal like a pig.

Boston must be wonderful. Just look at all the people moving there from Atlanta, Miami, Texas, the Carolinas, Virginia. Between the wonderful weather, the low taxes, the amazing low cost of living, and easy traffic--what's not to like?

To each his own. Me? I prefer my women not to have moustaches and back hair. But if you're into that, it's paradise.

By the way--any word on whether or not they've tightened up security any at Logan International?

Man, isn't that nice. Ever since they legalized gay marriage, it doesn't sound nearly so bad when you offer to forcibly sodomize someone. You can even offer to do it without sounding like the degenerate perv you are...because you are now "main stream".

A-CITZEN- I guess the joke went over your head. (Re- The movie Deliverance, which starred Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and Jon Voight) Movie didn't paint a pretty picture of the backwoods of Georgia, but I guess they banned the movie in the south like they ban American movies in Iran. Now being you didn't make the connection in you're post to me only tells me you're not too urbane.

RightisRight- That may be true, but that's mainly due to the fact that home prices are still overpriced, but will eventually come down. As far as Hotlanta goes, it's the talent pool from the north that has made Atlanta the gem as far as commerce is concerned. And another thing, Im from NY and if you take Merrill Lynch and Lehman brothers away from the Fortune 500, there are still more companies in the Fortune 500 in NY state than there are in the top 4 southern states in the Fortune 500 combined!!! I don't dislike the people of the south, I hate the ongoing racism that the south offers and thats evident in how they voted in 2000 and 2004 and the fact its tied in NC just keeps the south's racist legacy alive.

I was unaware there were blacks on the ballot in 2000 and 2004. And I don't have to "take Lehman brothers away from the Fortune 500"--the markets have already disposed of them, along with Bear Stearns and a handful of smaller NY-based financials.

I don't dislike hardly anyone. But I resent the people who claim to be on some kind of high horse, merely because of where somebody else happens to be from. For all your lectures on racism and open-mindedness, my Jewish uncle living on Long Island was denied entrance into private clubs for years--once he moved to the Midwest, no problem. I enjoyed that documentary "Born Rich", which chronicled the do-nothing lives of the scions of American life--not a black face anywhere. The only one was the guy who was an assistant pro at one of their elite clubs--no black members allowed. Never have been, never will be. As the (real) Messiah once said: remove the beam from your own eye, so you can clearly see to remove the mote in your neighbor's.

"Never have been"

Oh really?

Just one example:
Taylor, Hobart T., Sr. (1890-1972)

Entrepreneur, millionaire, and political activist, Hobart T. Taylor was born in 1890 in Wharton, Texas, to Millie (Wright) and Jack Taylor. Jack Taylor, a former slave, who had become an entrepreneur and landowner, had acquired 2,000 acres of farmland in Fort Bend and Wharton Counties by the time of his death in 1895 when Hobart was five.

www.blackpast.org
Hobart Taylor (front)
at Construction of the
Astrodome, Fall 1962

Taylor provided financial support for Lyndon Baines Johnson in his successful U.S. Senate campaign in 1948. Johnson in turn appointed Taylor as a Texas delegate to the 1956 National Democratic Convention. In 1960, Hobart Taylor, Sr., and his son, prominent Detroit attorney Hobart Taylor, Jr., became early supporters of Johnson's bid for the Presidency.

That's a lot of work you went to, Zat. But unless the good Mr. Taylor is a member of Paris Hilton's Exclusive Golf and Country Club for Hamptons-Area White Douchebags, I don't see what it has to do with anything.

"That's a lot of work you went to, Zat."

Not really, I've known the family for decades.
I'm sure they view Paris Hilton as trash.

I don't dislike the people of the south, I hate the ongoing racism that the south offers and thats evident in how they voted in 2000 and 2004 and the fact its tied in NC just keeps the south's racist legacy alive.

you liberals assume that this guy is racist because he is against obama. does your opposition to mccain/palan make you a sexist, of course not. secondly you should learn the difference between public and private property. if he owns the property then he can do what he wants to with it. liberals think they are so "enlightened" but actually you are very narrow-minded and think you have the only opinion that matters.

The sign went up Sunday evening, bold black letters against the stark white background of the marquee at the Colony South Hotel & Conference Center in Clinton: "Country First. McCain/Palin."

By daybreak, pandemonium had broken loose all across heavily Democratic Prince George's County. Many local supporters of Democrat Barack Obama, jolted by the message as they headed down Branch Avenue on their Monday morning commutes, grabbed cellphones and BlackBerrys to notify friends. Operators of neighborhood e-mail group lists cried foul to their memberships. The NAACP logged calls. Community leaders demanded boycotts of the hotel, a common venue for Democratic events.

www.washingtonpost.com

"if he owns the property then he can do what he wants to with it."

So, when is that strip club or toxic dump site opening up next door to your home?

What's that? Zoning regulations prohibit that from happening? So much for the "if he owns the property then he can do what he wants to with it" canard.

North Carolina should go with the winner Barack Obama.

Subject: John McCain

Barack Obama has put out an ad that simple minded John
McCain cannot use a computer.

Well guess what; Barack cannot land a jet plane on an
aircraft carrier at night.

And that's that.

Barack also didn't incinerate 130 American sailors like John McCrispyCritter did. And that's that.

He probably has the right to do as he pleases but I hope the people remember after the election and part elsewhere. I know that if I see McCain Palin signs on a business here I will remember after the election and do my business with someone else. I'm sure they do the same when they see Obama signs.
I think if I still owned a business I'd keep politics out of it.

Not everyone is an obsessed partisian asshole danni.

I think if I still owned a business I'd keep politics out of it.

You can't. You aren't capable of doing that.

You don't have a business anymore? Go figure.

I'm sure you can pin that one on the republicans also.

LOL

Then you're no better than the guy in the article.

On a funny note, plenty of businesses here with Obama stickers. Black hair stylists and alternative clothing stores.

The only business with a McCain sign happens to be a liquor store.

The stereotypes perpetuate themselves.

"Then you're no better than the guy in the article."

I never said the guy in the article was a bad guy. I just choose to support those who don't actively work to keep politicians in office who conduce class warfare against working Americans...so sue me.

Go hire a contractor to put a roof on your house using all illegal alien labor and then wave your Chinese made American flag and tell me how much you love America.

clue for right wingers...you don't love America if you want Americans to work for nothing.

"I just choose to support those who don't actively work to keep politicians in office who conduce class warfare against working Americans"

Huh, i had you figured for an obama supporter. Oh, wait, i see, against working class, rage against other classes but leave the working class alone. After all it's not like the working class strives to be in the very class the dems are breeding their hate and jealousy for.

Danni, you keep forgetting socialism has been tried, and failed and failed again. No, we can't afford to pay a kid to bag our groceries a equal wage to the rest of us. Is that class warfare against the "working class"? Would you prefer that the next time you stopped for some cheap fast food that it cost 5 times the price? How would you feel about paying 10 bucks for a loaf of bread? At what point did you hit your head causing you you to think we can sustain a single financial class? What good is making 50 an hour if that 50 is consumed bye your morning coffee? No the real class warfare is being war lorded be the likes of obama who is instilling hatred for those with more in effort to gain control of the masses. We have seen it many times before and the scary thing is it works. Don't forget that jealousy is just as strong as greed and i find it shameful that so many are using one of mans fundamental flaws to leverage their weak minds.

"I think if I still owned a business I'd keep politics out of it."

As an employee of small business, we can't afford to keep out of them. We have already seen the massive tax hikes brought on by our local gov, we can't afford obama. You worry about loosing customers if they don't like your stance, we worry about loosing our business if to many Americans don't see what is at stake.

Barack also didn't incinerate 130 American sailors like John McCrispyCritter did. And that's that.

factcheck.org tells it like this...

McCain did lose two Navy aircraft while piloting them. One crash was found to be be McCain's fault, the other due to an engine failure of undetermined cause.. A third was destroyed on the deck of the carrier USS Forrestal when a missile fired accidentally from another plane hit either the plane next to McCain's or, less likely, his own aircraft, triggering a disastrous fire that killed 134 sailors and nearly killed McCain. The Navy praised his "aggressiveness and skillful airmanship" when awarding him the Navy Commendation Medal for an attack Oct. 18, 1967, on a shipyard in Haiphong, North Vietnam, prior to his capture. The Navy also commended his "superb airmanship" in awarding him the Distinguished Flying Cross for a bombing attack on a Hanoi power plant Oct. 26, 1967.

McCain's only regret about the Forrestal incident is that his victims weren't all black.

"We have already seen the massive tax hikes brought on by our local gov, we can't afford obama."

Massive tax hikes my ass. Either you are simply a liar or you really don't pay attention. In a year that is seeing the results of Bush and Reagan economics it is hilarious that you pretend to fear the economics which Obama will bring. OMG! Not prosperity!

You got nothing fag boy...oooo McCain is not a good candidate, mildly better than the empty suit obamaboy but surely you can come up with something better than repeating stupid ass lies... well perhaps not that would take a brain and not just spewing your blatherskite nonsense.

Keep trying to prop up the empty flight suit, he might make your day and let you attempt to suck the liver spots off his taint.

"We have already seen the massive tax hikes brought on by our local gov, we can't afford obama."

Property values go up, assessments go up, property taxes go up. New homes are built, new infrastructure needs building, extra policemen and firemen need hiring. See how that works?

Despite the enormous amount of time wasted stating to the contrary, this is not a First Amendment issue, because it is not a state-run parking lot. A private business owner is free to turn away all the pro-Obama business he wants, whether that is to his own detriment is another story.

It's also not a "racism" issue as the canadian put it. Just because you are anti-Obama doesn't mean you are anti-black people. The thick-skulled one-dimensional race-obsessed liberals on this site simply cannot comprehend that.

I don't dislike the people of the south, I hate the ongoing racism that the south offers and thats evident in how they voted in 2000 and 2004 and the fact its tied in NC just keeps the south's racist legacy alive.

Rightisconfused- Aren't you clever? Search out for a couple of my posts and label me a brownshirt nazi. You see, the point here is that I AM upfront with my disgust for racist southerners and Pro-Israel Zionist SCUM like yourself. Why don't YOU come out and show your true colors? Nah, can't do that cause your agenda as being a Jew with loyalties to Israel will blow your cover. Nice charade. Same shit that the NEOCONS have subverted our foreign policy so Israel could have a homeland. Its because of these Zionist's why this country is fucked up. Most americans are too apathetic to understand that. I'm still waiting for Israeli soliders to spill some blood in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have my doubts if you do.

The RedSox suck.
