Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The prosecution of an Oregon couple who allegedly tried to heal their dying son with prayer has focused attention on laws that, in some cases, allow parents to treat their children with faith. Neil Beagley, 16, died June 17 from complications of a urinary tract blockage, an easily treatable condition that caused fatal kidney and heart failure when neglected.

"....spiritual healing......"

...another word for witchcraft.....

....but Sarah Palin and her preacher believe in witchcraft, so it must be real.....

Throw them in prison and drop the key in deep hole-where no one can retrieve it.
Bible thumpers. Dumbest. Mother. Fuckers. On the face of the planet.

Here's what we should do with these people. Inject them with, say, cholera, or malaria, something that is easily controlled with medicine, but deadly without it, and 'let God cure them'.

If god does cure them, good for them, they have proven their case and are free to go. If god doesn't cure them, then we are cleaning up the gene pool a little bit and everyone wins.

justice is served.

On the other hand, we can thank them. If the kid had survived he would be another dumbass like his parents. I think Darwin called it "the survival of the fittest." What a great way to clean up our gene, let idiots kill their kids.

"Inject them with cholera...."

If they did get better without standard medical care, are you going to church?

I think they have that right. If they want to kill their kids with superstition and stupidity, they're the ones who have to live with it.

hell no because i'm not an idiot.

Hmmmm

Not one defender of the Faith..

So much for christian warriors.

One less fucked up kid to wrench up the works.
Good Parenting!

I believe if I want money or I need help to get out of my current mess, that was created by me, all I have to do is call on the Great and Wonderful Goblin in the sky.

The Goblin also takes medical requests but not on tuesday becasue that's when he plays golf.

"The Goblin"
LOL!

These folks SHOULD be prosecuted.

Whether one is Christian or not, there is no Christian teaching that specifically excludes professional medical help, and there is no such teaching that says that any possible physical or spiritual benefit from prayer is immediate.

The bible says believers can handle snakes and drink poison without ill effects.

I think all believers should test this theory.

Keep praying, god will heal you. No really, he will! *laughs wickedly*

"My God" jethro tull

People -- what have you done -- locked Him in His golden cage.

Made Him bend to your religion -- Him resurrected from the grave.

He is the god of nothing -- if that's all that you can see.

You are the god of everything -- He's inside you and me.

So lean upon Him gently - and don't call on Him to save you
from your social graces and the sins you used to waive.

.....

And the graven image you-know-who -- with His plastic crucifix --
he's got him fixed

confuses me as to who and where and why --
as to how he gets his kicks.

Confessing to the endless sin -- the endless whining sounds.
You'll be praying till next Thursday to all the gods that you can count.

-The bible says believers can handle snakes and drink poison without ill effects.

The section of Mark that contains this passage is known as the, "Marcan Appendix,", dismissed by most scholars as a later addition by a different author.

There is a story of Paul being bitten and surviving, but there is no admonition to purposfully handle snakes, a tradition began in the early 1900's in Appalachia by a salesman.

Just as there is no admonition to watch your children die when there are medical treatments available.

a tradition began in the early 1900's in Appalachia by a salesman.

So says our resident authority on hillbilly culture. Corkscrew developed a fantasy fetish from watching Deliverance and mimicking the exclamations of pigs. The anecdotal history lessons are basically a sideline, and occasionally of interest, but his burning desire is to be a backwoods boy toy.

Funny how Ozzy takes offense whenever Hill Williams are mentioned, even as an accurate historical reference.

Methinks he dost protest too much, amidst the sound of squealing pigs, frightened swine and with good reason.

I will only say that tonight I will include these people in my prayers because they dont understand that modern medicine is from men and women given to us by God..........

and then I will pray for the likes of many on you here............

"Methinks he dost protest too much"

You "thinks?" Must be a new paradigm.

The next time I want to use a historical reference that mentions Appalachia, hillbillies, or pigs as spouse equivalents, I'll run it by you first, 'K?

I have a great respect for experts.

...and while you're babbling to your invisible cloud god, the rest of us will be doing something constructive.
Oh, and why don't you ask him why he helped Carlos Zambrano throw strikes last week but wouldn't help poor Neil.

What a great way to clean up our gene, let idiots kill their kids.

sadness flag

It is not the kids fault they were born into a retarded family...just ask MY kids.

and then I will pray for the likes of many on you here............

make sure you include yourself...you will need all the help (and prozac) you can get after nov 4th and your mind rebels at the reality of an Obama Administration and we start prosecuting your hero for his crimes.

on topic- yes these parents should be prosecuted but they are mentally ill aren't they?

And is that really their fault? This administration has been complicit in the spreading of this Big Lie called God and so are partly to blame. But what about the Church that told them that God would heal the child? Isn't there some liability involved here? I say sue the Church for false advertising if they lead these folks to believe that God would say the child!

Reminds me of the old joke:

There was a guy living in a city that was in danger of being flooded. A bus came by and the people pleaded with him to get on and evacuate, but he said God would save him, so he was staying. Then the flood waters came and he had to go up to the second story of his house. A rescue boat came by and the man on board pleaded with the man to get in the boat so he would be saved. But again, the man refused, saying that he had faith in God to save him from the flood waters. Then the flood waters rose further so that he had to be on top of his house, and a rescue helicopter came by and tried to save the man. Again, he refused. "God is my savior!" he declared. Finally, the waters rose so high that the man drowned.

When the man got to the pearly gates, he asked God, "Why didn't you save me? I had faith in you and you let me die." And God responded, "What are you talking about? I sent you a bus, I sent you a rescue boat, and I sent you a rescue helicopter what more did you want from me???"

Even if they despise Western Medicine, what is wrong with trying ancient Eastern Medicine?

These people need to realize that medicine has advanced to where it is today because it's necessary.......why?
....Because prayer doesn't work. If it did, health care costs would be of no concern to people.

Hey, that's murder in my book......

These people are the type who go on and on about the sanctity of life when referring to a unformed ball of goop. But they are willing to kill their 16 year old son to prove a point. And make no mistake - that was a painful death.

I will only say that tonight I will include these people in my prayers because they dont understand that modern medicine is from men and women given to us by God..........

and then I will pray for the likes of many on you here............

Modern medicine comes from people, not from god. You do a disservice to the smart Men and Women who discovered the theory of germs, theory of viruses, antibiotics, metabolism, evolution, etc. etc.

I bet you are the type that thanks god rather than the doctor who spent years of his life studying and practicing his trade to save your ass.

-idiots like you are why I don't waste much time here anymore

Anyone who would like to show their appreciation to me for keeping dickwads like Repug away, can donate to the Obama campaign.

Corky, I'd like to show you some appreciation.

Don't let fuckheads like 'the repugnant one' get under your skin.

you know you and i had a fundemental disagreement (about hillary) one time, i'm sure you remember, but i never attacked you personally and i never ever would questioned your intelligence.

contrary to what the inflamed asshole says, you are very intelligent and i look forward to reading all your posts, even the ones i disagree with.

Cork on dude.

Cork, you've come a long way.

Can you imagine yourself saying 'Donate to Obama' six months ago?

Sure, for VP.

I just thought, and still think, Hil would be a better choice for Pres at this time.

But Obama has hired all of the Clinton economic team, so it won't make much difference now.

Thanks, Lippy.
Likewise, I'm sure.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Apparently, they should've seen the doctor, they weren't getting it done in the faith realm.

James 5:13-17

Seriously these people fail at being christian. They apparently didn't read or understand genesis, we've been out of the garden and in the "wild" a long time now. Where prayer would have been the cure. Man sinned now we must live by the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

**** ....Because prayer doesn't work. If it did, health care costs would be of no concern to people.

"Hell no, Im no idiot...."

No one would say you are, LIPIZOIDAL. My point was there's no evidence you'd accept as being contrary to your atheist convictions.

Or, if there is, have on.

You have NO IDEA what you're talking about.

There are SCORES of passages that talk about IMMEDIATE physical healing.

I am going to go out on a limb and say. The Parents should not be charged with anything. Sometimes one has to take the Bull by the horns and live by what they believe in. If that means not using modern medicine to make someone well then who are we to judge the rightness or wrongness of that belief?? Yeah it might not be right for us but then again our ways might not be right for them either. They lived by their belief system and You can't fault them for that.

How do you think we have babies, if not "doin' it" with mothers?

But we are vocal, so quit with the "dumb" stuff.

"They lived by their belief system and You can't fault them for that."

Someone else died for their belief system.

Why does god hate christian children so much?

I know, let's ask Sarah "Bears False Witness" Palin. She's a good ol' christian (when she's not breaking the 9th commandment).

"....spiritual healing......"

...another word for witchcraft.....

And here I thought "spiritual healing" was other words for sex!

When it's all boiled down the motive behind their actions is getting the ticket on the bus that's placarded "destination heaven," and not getting the one way ticket to hell. True to their belief in what? Only their belief that if I don't do this crap I'm going to hell. Doing the right thing? Right and wrong has nothing to do with it.

They're driven by one factor alone, that they're scared sh**less that their benevolent, all loving God will smite their very own, personal ass if they don't follow whatever mumbo jumbo they believe he/it/she wants them to do. Bottom line is it's all about them personally. Their actions and "religious beliefs" provide no benefit to anyone or anything beyond keeping at bay their own terror driven obsession of getting their individual "soul" into heaven and not HELLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

Someone else died for their belief system.

There's also a religion up in the Yaak in Montana that believes it's a saintly duty for adults to sex up kids as soon as the first pubic hair pops up. Will you apply the same standards to the practices of that religion? A molested kid is better off then a dead kid, but that's a whole other argument entirely.
