When I got there, about 20 minutes early, the line of sign wavers stretched the full length of the library grounds, along the edge of the road, 6 or 7 people deep! I could hardly find a place to park. I nabbed one of the last spots in the library lot, and as I got out of the car and started walking, people seemed to join in from every direction, carrying signs.

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn't honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute.This just doesn't happen here.

Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn't be heard.Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.

1) Reduced the world nuke arsenal while working with Sen Lugar, admittedly one of the easier Republicans to work with.

2) Succeeded in efforts of welfare reform, health care expansion, ethics reform while working with Wisconsin's Russ Feingold, in short, issues that matter to voters.

3) Exhibits rational forethought and calm in the midst of crisis, such as his call on the Iraq war (whether you agree or not is irrelevent, the point is, history, the nation and the world believe him right).

4) And here's one I hear frequently discounted - He leads. Whether you think he's the anti-christ or not, he sure gets the crowds going. I've seen it firsthand, so don't try any of that "free beer" BS. Even Hillary had to cordon off the crowds at her stop in my town, to keep them together for "crowd shots". Obama had to move his to a bigger venue, and it was a pretty diverse crowd. Despite the Limbaugh set, a LOT of Republicans are voting blue this year, not just because McCain is a twit, but because they actually trust Obama. Even if he does turn out to be Satan, that's a nice change of pace from what we've been having for the past gazillion years. It's been a long time since we've had someone who makes the majority of us feel good about America's government.

Really though, I think you are looking at this the wrong way. Obama could be Bill the freaking Cat and AMerica would vote for him, because at the end of the day, it is just too obvious to most folks that the McCain ticket is just asking for it all to come crashing down. the wrong calling. Instead of being a "community organizer" he should have joined the CIA. Obama knows how to cover his tracks. He could be called the "clandestine candidate."

Obama spent two years at Columbia University yet left virtually no fingerprints of his presence there. Could that be because Columbia was where Mr. Obama first met "mad bomber" William Ayers?

Obama has also refused to release his Columbia University transcripts. What secrets lurk there? Likewise for Occidental College where he attended for two years. What is he trying to hide? I arrived in the Columbia area to study theology at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine shortly after Obama had left, so I know the neighborhood well. I have gone back to retrace were he might have been. No luck. No footprints, either.

What has Obama's past behavior over the past four years taught me? When Obama is hiding something he is hiding something.

Is it just a coincidence that Obama and Ayers were on the Columbia campus together? Did they meet and make their initial contact at that time? Had Obama been turned on to Ayers by Frank Marshall Davis? Was there a Khalid Al-Mansour and William Ayers connection during this early period. Questions, questions. But no answers from Mr. Obama.

I don't think you can have it both ways. You either agree that there are holes in his history that are worthy of investigation, or you believe that since it wasn't done with Bush that it's acceptable to ignore with Obama.

I guess that there's a third option, that you think there are no gaps in Obama's history. But if that is the case, I'm not sure I understand why you wouldn't rather have said so instead of bringing up the lack of vetting with respect to W. That just comes off as a deflection.
