Well, that's what happens when an area gets overpopulated. Some horrible famine or disease comes and wipes a lot of them out. That's the nature of life.

No wonder the righties think it's such a good idea to borrow money from them.
If they f**ck each other to death-they think we won't have to pay it back.....

vernon, get your whacky calculator and see what percentage of the people that is.

Better them than us.

burning wood or coal at home for cooking and heating.

and were the ones getting beat up as the worlds worst polluters.

Ahhh...the balance of nature.

cough...hack...cough

Did Bush infect China with lung Disease....

Bush killed China... That Bastard!!!!!

good start--

i'm in china. smokers everywhere. teachers smoke in the hallways of the schools. the internet cafe is always ahaze of smoke. about the only place they don't smoke (too oftyen) is on the buses packed like mardi gras.

80 million is a drop in the bucket. cheaper than pensaions/ geriatric care.

There's another rumor going around that death will kill the rest of us....

80 million? Only? Mao, wherever he is, surely is scoffing.

Better them than us.

"16 out of the 20 most polluted cities in the world are in China."

The Spudster knows of what he speaks. Having just returned I can tell you that the pollution and excessively poor air quality I experienced 17 out of the 18 days I was there was definitely not from cigarette smoke.

In fact, in the large cities I visited (Beijing, Xian & Guangzhou) I saw few people smoking. But I also rarely saw the sun - and it wasn't raining. To be sure, many people smoke in China. But that is hardly a problem for us. Factories, coal plants and cars in China, on the other hand, present serious problems for the rest of the world.

And don't even get me started on plastic drinking water bottles...

The headline doesn't surprise me one bit. Many of the Chinese people that I work with smoke like chimneys.

Chairman Mao Tse Tung said at the time of the Vietnam War that China,in the event of a nuclear attack by America "could afford to lose 100 million people - but how many people could America (in China's retaliation) afford to lose?"
So nowadays 80 million deaths in China becomes merely the basic ovehead for doing business!

Went and saw the "Bodies" exhibit when it was in town a few weeks ago. The bodies as you all know from that particular show came from China. Every single subject's lungs were black and rotted. Their was even a little display explaining the condition of the lungs, stating that on top of the awful pollution in China, almost everyone there smokes.

Oh, and they all had really horrible teeth too. Like worse than British people.
