Other than that, no undisputed evidence can be presented on either side to convince the other they are mistaken
The idea that all societies in the history of humankind have invented one idea of God or another is an undisputed fact.
To one side it's proof that God exists.
To the other it's proof that Man made God and not vice versa.
Religion is a societal control mechanism.
One that's done much good and much harm over the years.
Used propperly it can be a force for moral change and that's a good thing. (Think of the Quaker's abolitionist movement or religious objections to the war in Vietnam and others)
Spud's biggest problem is when organised religion prevents society from progressing in it's moral evolution.
The sad fact of the matter is that organised fundamentaist faux Christianity is prolly the biggest single impediment to moral evolution that exists today.
The irony of that sad fact is overwhelming at times.
"We are all athiests. The only difference between me and you is that I believe in one less god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other versions of god then you will understand why I dismiss yours"
Prolly not an exact quote.
Spud is paraphrase.
When Judaism, Christianity and Islam first came into being, mankind was a wretched, ill-informed, ignorant group of folks. Today we know so much more that it makes no sense to cling to the failed and false logic of those dark days. That sed, there is some valuable wisdom in all of the worlds major religions. It's just kinda like a marshmallow hidden deep inside a cow patty.
/Extra Spudpoints fer anyone who knows where that last analogy came from.
Be Well.
