Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

European physicists who study particles from outer space made a pitch this week for the ambitious and costly experiments they want to build over the next decade. "We've worked hard to get the tools; now we need to move to large-scale detectors," says Christian Spiering of DESY, Germany's particle physics lab in Hamburg.

D'Oh! Zat, you have to be a subscriber to read the article. Damn.

Should be interesting work though, if it gets the funding.

Will the TOE be far off?

SO very interesting that Astrophysics, the study of the incredibly big, and particle physics, the study of the incredibly small have coalesced into one field of study.

Man, I wish I had double majored in Physics and Philosophy instead of half assing my way through English which steered me to the Philo/Polisci route. I'd have lost alot of credits to take Physics seriously.

Biy I didn't think that physics would get me any action, which weighed big on my mind at the time. Not that what I wound up doing helped either. I either counfounded or annoyed the girls I went for.

Sorry about that, but it will be free in time.

Since I do astroparticle physics I thought it might be of some interest.
