Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Kathleen Parker: Allow me to introduce myself. I am a traitor and an idiot. Also, my mother should have aborted me and left me in a dumpster, but since she didn't, I should "off" myself. Those are a few nuggets randomly selected from thousands of e-mails written in response to my column suggesting that Sarah Palin is out of her league and should step down.

I LOVE IT.

Typical Rethug reaction.

Sarah Palin was advertised quite heavily a few years ago as a exciting young upand-coming Libertarian, however, in order to have a brand you must touch the flame, and Palin never had political beleifs seared into her soul and it is apparent just how malleable her political positions actually are. The neocons have hooked their talons into her soft clay mind with the promise of power and it is a shame she has allowed herself to be destroyed in such a way.

I'm not saying she'd ever be presidential material, but perhaps in another 15-20 years she could be, or at the very least a strong senator. Stranger things have happened, however she certainly isn't now and its a shame she has allowed herself to be manipulated into all that's wrong with modern partisan politics.

Typical head-in-the-sand Obama supporter, pretending that dems don't send hate mail.

Chin up, girl-you're not alone.

But it is the experience question that may prove her highest hurdle, particularly when paired with widespread public concern about McCain's age. About half of all voters said they were uncomfortable with the idea of McCain taking office at age 72, and 85 percent of those voters said Palin does not have the requisite experience to be president.

The 60 percent who now see Palin as insufficiently experienced to step into the presidency is steeply higher than in a Post-ABC poll after her nomination early last month. Democrats and Republicans alike are now more apt to doubt her qualifications, but the biggest shift has come among independents.

In early September, independents offered a divided verdict on Palin's experience; now they take the negative view by about 2 to 1. Nearly two-thirds of both independent men and women in the new poll said Palin has insufficient experience to run the White House.

Obama was able for the first time to crack the 50 percent mark, albeit barely, on whether he has the experience to be president following Friday's presidential debate, and the question is one of Palin's central challenges as she prepares to face Biden in prime time before a national television audience.

But a third of independent voters now indicate they are less likely to support McCain because of Palin, compared with 20 percent who said so in an ABC poll a month ago. Palin now repels more independents than she attracts to McCain. The share of independent women less apt to support McCain because of the Palin pick has more than doubled to 34 percent, while the percentage more inclined to support him is down eight points.

But even within these Republican strongholds, questions about Palin's experience are fairly common. About four in 10 conservatives and white evangelical Protestants, three in 10 Republicans and a quarter of GOP women said she does not have the necessary experience.

The Post-ABC poll was conducted by telephone Sept. 27 to 29 among a random sample of adults nationally, including interviews with 1,070 registered voters. The results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. Error margins for subgroups are higher.

Of course, there's a difference between a lack of polish and a lack of coherence. Some of Palin's interview responses can't even be critiqued on their merits because they're so nonsensical. But even that is someone else's fault, say Palin supporters. The media make her uncomfortable.

The woman talks jibberish and somehow we are led to believe that she is qualified to lead this nation in the event of Gampy's assuming room temperature.

"Typical head-in-the-sand Obama supporter, pretending that dems don't send hate mail."

I don't believe that was Briwo's point...merely that Republicans love other Republicans, until they tell the truth. At that point, they become pariahs.

Ask Richard Clarke, or Paul O'Neill, or now, Kathleen Parker.

merely that Republicans love other Republicans, until they tell the truth. At that point, they become pariahs.

Nothing like the Wisconsin Super-Delegate who was barred from the DNC Convention.

but you dont deny the venom from the left.
of course when the leftists media talks shit like this, you all agree with it, so I guess its a little different

when it comes to parker who I read when her column appears in the chronicle, I am pretty indifferent to it as I was on this aritcle.
its her opinion and the people who sent her emails are stupid and wrong.
but TRUST ME ON THIS ONE........there are plenty of leftists who are just as stupid and wrong and when THEY do this kind of stuff, personal property usually gets broken or the peace is disturbed.

"but Democrats/lefties do it too"

The converse used to be the Dem's motto. And it always cost them. Then the Repub's decided to use it - constantly. Do they actually believe it won't also cost them? Especially when they keep claiming that they _are_ the "higher ground"?

Still, definitely in keeping with historical U.S. politics.

I seem to remember columnist receiving a lot of rough comments and being accused of being in the tank for Hillary by Obama supporters during the primaries, and visa versa. This is where we have ended up today. We are so partisan and advesarial that we just want to fight and call names whenever someone says anything we don't agree with rather than trying to present rational talking points and counter arguments.

"The woman talks jibberish and somehow we are led to believe that she is qualified to lead this nation in the event of Gampy's assuming room temperature."

Like Obama doesn't? Haven't you seen his speeches without the teleprompter? You say to yourself "what the hell is he talking about". And both Biden and McCain have their moments as well. So jibberish has been running wild by all parties this election. Yet you seem to think they are better qualified instead?

"Nothing like the Wisconsin Super-Delegate who was barred from the DNC Convention."

Wake me up when that WISD has a column in National Democrats Online.

Haven't you seen his speeches without the teleprompter?

Several. And they're all better than anything from MCCadaver or palin. McCadaver's interviews are exercises in delusion. Or insanity. Palin needs a prompter to say she's happy to be back in wasilla. It's like The Simpsons where the bands have the name of the town written on the back of thier guitar so they know where to say hello to! Only sarah is mostly not a cartoon and the right wants her one decrepit heartbeat from the nuclear button.

btw-RCP average gap just keeps growing daily in Obama's favor, so apparently most Americans see the same thing.

ng3......your bias is showing.
obama is a stuttering idiot many times when he doesnt have the words right in front of him.....

too many videos to prove it

gotta go

have a great day

BLT we just watched him do very well in the debate.
That stuttering nonsense is a pre-debate talking point, you need to go to right wing talking points dot com and get your new b.s.

Don't forget the Clintons.

"Typical head-in-the-sand Obama supporter, pretending that dems don't send hate mail."

Dems don't send hate mail. A few spams around - I have 229 Ks at this point - give a few basic facts about Ms. Sarah. But we only inform. YOU decide. Gee, why does that sound familiar? herm

"Dems don't send hate mail."
--HERM

Herm, brushing up on his comedy routine.

"Haven't you seen his (Obama's) speeches without the teleprompter?"

I'm never in a position to tell, but what's the problem with that? I talk a lot in public and prefer my notes in front of me, lest I omit something. Or does this poster imply that O'B does not write his own stuff? herm

The plane's headed straight for a cliff, and the repubs and dems are fighting over the controls, until we crash I guess. Partisanship is poison. The way the 24-hour media allows us to take any word or action out-of-context, I don't think things will change much, gotta sell yourself out to get the votes, can't be natural and follow your true ideals, which are actually related to the ideals of the next guy.

Danni--

Obama stammered 101 times in the debate.

Herm--the Dems have entire web sites devoted to sending hate.

For this thread--KP was over the top--she had some constructive criticism--which is welcomed.

The emails like that are wrong however, and folks need to get a grip.

I've been reading here for a while now and all the partisan in-fighting is fine, it has it's place...but... This election is far too important to let that get the better of you. The US is facing several severe crisis's on several fronts right now. We can all point to the past and say "this is the worst financial time since 1929" or "This war is almost/is as big a quagmire (gigity) as Korea or Vietnam", or "We haven't had such a useless lame-duck President since...", or, "We haven't faced a decade with so many severe natural disasters since...", or "The world view of the US hasn't been so low since...". Etc, etc.

Here's the problem... All this stuff is happening simultaneously...right...now.

So simply sit back as an American (not merely a Dem or Repub) and ask yourself "Who can maybe, just maybe, show us a glimmer at the end of the tunnel?". If you really, really, think about it you may come up with your answer in Barack Obama or maybe in John McCain but if you apply logic and reason and do not let your emotions and/or party loyalty get in the way of critical thinking... You will probably realize that not only is Sarah Palin under qualified to lead this country (in the unfortunate event it should come to that in the potential next 4-8 years) but also... She's kind of a nut-bag. "But", you say, "She IS witch proof and that has to count for something! With her we have the Lord on our side! She can see Canada and Russia from her house!". "No one that preaches abstinence could possibly be wrong about that approach with teenagers..." Etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. So not as a Dem or a Repub but as a reasonable, straight thinking, American who would like a future for themselves and their children and grandchildren. Can you honestly think that putting Carabu Barbie in charge is a good move? Honestly? It seems this is even a decision that has brought together some from the far left and the far right for one tiny moment as evidenced by this very article.

- Cheers! - A concerned Brit. who is living in the US at the moment.

"...the Dems have entire web sites devoted to sending hate."

Murph, there is a pretty clear line between fact and hate. They said of Nixon, and Reagan, and the clueless incumbent that they could destroy themselves with their own words, and surely Sarah and her gramps do that, but I say again:

Nothing in any Demo site spells hate to me. Hate is reserved for Repubs who angrily holler n-i-g... and "commie moose-lim ..." herm

"

Obama stammered 101 times in the debate."

And gained quite a few points in the polls.
Stammering often occurs when people think instead of just repeat talking points.
Murphy, you need new talking points too, the old ones are LOSING THE ELECTION!

I especially loved the hypocrisy of the right as they're defending an anti-choice candidate like Palin by telling a journalist that she should have been aborted.

I guess I can see why these tards like Palin so much. She makes them feel smart.

How about Kathleen Turner?

Saying "uh" is stammering? Interesting. I thought most of my professors in college used to think about what they wanted to say next and used that as a filler. Turns out otherwise. Hope I meet some of them again!

Good Point, but here's the problem. As american voters, the erudite among us see a startling trend that was magnified by this latest clusterf*ck.

The voice of the American people mean nothing to Washington. I'm not sure if it ever did. We have become a nation of the corporation,, by the corporation and for the corporation, amen.

We are in a sorry state right now. As americans we can deal with major sacrifices, but we have a hard time with minor inconveniences.

Dammit Zat, you just killed the Body Heat fantasy I had on a loop in my brain.

Billy Graham likes Sarah Palin.

And Entertainment Tonight has been respectful of her --- this makes 'The View' looks like 'The Attack' led by two hysterical liberals by the name Whoopi and Joy Behar (her name should be changed to Bias Behar). There is not enough lipstick to cover the pig in them.

Kathleen Parker? Intelligent but not wise --- there is a difference.

"but TRUST ME ON THIS ONE........there are plenty of leftists who are just as stupid and wrong and when THEY do this kind of stuff, personal property usually gets broken or the peace is disturbed."

You are as dumb as a rock!

Did you hear about the Knoxville church murders?

"Billy Graham likes Sarah Palin.

Takitez,

First thing Billy Graham is a vegetable. He loves everybody he meets. Doesn't count.

Second there is a reason why they call it "The View". Hint, hint views are not objective. If people in general were offended by the views presented on "The View" then it would go off the air.

Third what the fuck are you doing watching "The View"?

The Parker column has been entertaining. In that it shows again how Democrats are nothing but fascists.

In DemWorld, everyone must be in lockstep conformity or they will be rejected as a heretic. So, of course, they ass-u-me everyone else is like them.

When a Conservative is critical of a Republican, the Democrats have a feeding frenzy are like roaches on a rotten turd.

Sorry, assclowns, but in ConsWorld people still practice free thought, free speech, free discourse. And we argue the merits of the idea.

That's a complicated concept for Liberals -- most of you will not understand.

FF for Vernon!

Yet you seem to think they are better qualified instead?

If you fail to see a difference between obama and palin your country is doomed.

I guess that's why he won the debate, right?

www.newser.com

In the debate, Sarah Palin has once and for all proven Kathleen Parker wrong.

Sarah is in the game and could prove to be the game changer!

She's a game changer all right. McCain just conceded Michigan.
