Is it true when they say after law students have taken the bar when they receive their bar exam results in the mail they can sometimes tell just by the size of the envelope whether or not they have passed/failed the bar before they even open it? I forget which one it's suppose to be -- a thick envelope is a good sign and a thin envelope means you probably failed -- or vice versa.

I wouldn't know, because the results we got were posted online. I remember that college acceptance/rejection letters were always big if you got in, small if you didn't.

I imagine that a big bar exam envelope might actually mean you failed, since they'd have to provide you with all kinds of information on why you failed, how to appeal and what to do next.

Joe, the year I took the bar exam was one of the first years (if not the first) when they started posting results on line. My name did not appear on the "passed", "conditioned" or "failed" list and I freaked out thinking they had lost my exam and I would have to re-take the damn thing over again. Like anyone waiting for results needs any added stress. One of the big reasons I won't leave Louisiana is I don't want to take another bar exam. Of course, we have reciprocity with Texas, but I can't stand Texas (and I am from Dallas).
