That's the biggest problem the left has with Newt; he's smarter than the average elephant. He might be selfishly evil, but he's really smart and its not so easy to demonstrate the flaws in his arguments.

He's like Scalia in that respect.

I'd love to take a class with him. I'd probably fail unless I was willing to regurgitate whatever he said (because I'd prolly disagree with most of what he said so he'd clobber me on my papers), but at least it would be interesting.

Here's my take. I can't stand the system. I can't stand the people that play the system. but I can't eat or have a life without the system. So I have to play along.

There are criminals and miscreants on each political pole. so we have to have some standard to define with whom we want to align ourselves. I choose to align myself with smart people regardless of party. that's why I like the DR.

No arguement from me, hasn't been a great eight, and there are reasons for that, but judging from your past posts (and mine), discussing those will leave both of us chasing our tails like two dogs, and I have neither the time nor motivation to do so. When things are good, who ever is in charge gets the credit, and the inverse is true as well. But you and I both know that is not the whole story.
