Unfortunately, this bailout of finanical institutions was undertaken with the result of consequent dilution of value of the currency, and a probable inflationery process that will greatly impair the situations of people living on fixed incomes.
Fixed income people will be among those paying for the social engineering programs enacted to "help the poor."
The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Ideologues create problems as they ignore reality to comply with their ideological dictates. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, all together killed hundreds of millions to effect ideological purity and attain ideologically mandated goals. By the way, they were all socialists ranging from supporting national socialism to Marxist socialism.
Beware the overreaching solutions of the ideologues. We are all paying for the implementation of the "housing for the poor" programs, which have morphed into a national economic disaster. The disequilibrium introduced into the system to accomplish these other goals has rendered it so unstable that the adjustments will inflict difficulties on many many people.
