Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Citigroup will acquire the banking operations of Wachovia Corporation, the latest bank to fall victim to the distressed mortgage market. The sale further concentrates Americans' bank deposits in the hands of just three banks: Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup.

Where is the thread about "Barrack Obama's Truth Squad"? rcade?????????

"But the government's proposed $700 billion bailout plan could prove to be the deal's silver lining.

While the plan broadly aims to prevent banks from profiting on the sale of troubled assets to the government, there is an exception made for assets acquired in a merger or buyout, or from companies that have filed for bankruptcy.

This detail could allow Citigroup to sell toxic mortgages and other assets it gained from Wachovia for a higher price than the bank actually paid for them."

So, would this deal have gone thru without the bail-out plan? Probably not.

If don't cease and desist in talking bad about Obama we will send you to Guantanamo

Sincerely

The Left

Well maybe the News will be fair and balanced over there...

So what happens when they continue to take losses on those assets, and, they see a decline in deposits, which is inevitable. Their will be continued job losses and business failures.

Say in the neigborhood of, 20%?

And the average citizen must still borrow money, or the commercial banks' income stream dries up?

here is something for ataxliar's truth squad request

"John McCain's campaign has a truth squad which includes prosecutors who support his candidacy, according to reports and a campaign source.

Last Tuesday without any fanfare, the Barack Obama campaign announced Jennifer Joyce and Bob McCulloch, the top prosecutors in St. Louis city and St. Louis County, were joining something called an Obama truth squad.

They plan to respond immediately to any misleading advertisements and statements that might violate Missouri ethics laws."

so how bout now shut the hell up
and stop trying to make it out like your old man boy is a saint when he's the biggest liar in the washington scene

and stick to the topic on hand

These banks should not be allowed to gobble up all the smaller and/or distressed banks.

If all the smaller and/or distressed banks are consolidated into the hands of only a few and then those banks commit fraud and other schemes like we saw with the subprimes, then we will always have to bail them out no matter what. These new soon to be "mega-banks" will always be considered "too big to let fail" and that's too dangerous.

They will be able to get away with anything.

i know you think lying is a question of freedom of speech

of course you would think so
you have nothing BUT lies

Both parties = pigs at the trough.

That's why, with the exceptions of Ann Richards and Ron Paul, I've avoided them.

None of the Above for president!

Write-in Paris Hilton!

Ann's dead and since the last bout of gerrymandering, Paul is no longer my rep.

Zat,

That's why, with the exceptions of Ann Richards and Ron Paul, I've avoided them.

What about Badnarik?

Someone tell this man Badnarik isn't a Rep or Dem.

I tried to tell you guys.

The so-called 'Great Depression' was engineered by the banking interests to consolidate control and to get people to beg that their money be controlled by the federal reserve.

This one is also engineered to consolidate control again and to move forward the globalization of america (which means americas economy will have to be brought in line with the rest of the world).

Either let the markets fail and have a depression or bail them out and let's have a depression. either way the big banks (the ones doing the consolidating)have the same lineage as the original banks that engineered the great depression.

There is only one course of action left to save america as an indepenedent ideal.

with perez hilton as her VP.

Hilton/Hilton

now that's aticket

All it says is that McCain has one. There are no interviews with members like there was of obama members.

Zat,

Someone tell this man Badnarik isn't a Rep or Dem.

I am aware of that.

I just didn't read your previous post very carefully:

"Both parties = pigs at the trough."

Poor reading on my part.

It is proven obama has one. Where is the proof that McCain has one?

cabo
the article says thats cause
mccain gets a free ride

again
cause the governer of that state is an ardent mccain supporter

Whatever............ Nice of the obama campaign to tell us what is the truth. This way we don't need to think. Well, some of us will continue to think for ourselves.

"Nice of the obama campaign to tell us what is the truth."

Well, that's some ridiculous spin. But lets boil it down to the basics: do you believe the first amendment gives campaigns the absolute right to lie?

its proven cabo
you just have selective reading material

and personally
i don't think its a problem that they have truth squads

all they do is inform the public when someone is lying

they aren't censoring like you and govnah big blunts volume 2 is saying.

"Nice of the obama campaign to tell us what is the truth."

yes it is
because your man lies through his teeth

and it is nice when he tell us the truth about the lies against him

the truth is what we all should know

maybe you like lies
maybe thats why you like mccain

Jeff

It's cool.

Pour yourself one.

Nowhere in these articles does ayone identify themselves as part of a "Truth Squad". The media seems to have given them this label. On the otherhand, obamas people are calling themselves the "Truth Squad". There is a difference but you libs can not see it.

Zat,

Patron!

I am not a big Tequila drinker - my vice is sinlge-malt scotch and Italian red wine - but I do respect it.

Fact is, I COULD become a tequila devotee, were it not for a limited budget - beer, wine and scotch consume my alcohol alotment - an alotment that is considerable, BTW.

Anyhow, I've had Patron on a couple of instances and really enjoyed it.

Later all!

there is no difference

a rose by any other name smells as sweet

its the same shit

the only reason you say this is cause you have no case

" my vice is sinlge(sic)-malt scotch and Italian red wine "

It's right next to the article about John McCain's "Truth Squad" over there in the "nothing to see here" aisle. Find something else to cry about.

You are right, but not about me making an F in American History. I memorized all the dates I was supposed to and I aced all the history classes. Actually, I aced every class I ever took, my whole life, but that's another subject.

I don't pay that much attention to the 'state-sponsored propaganda' as I do about what really happened.

Why don't you pick up a book to read some day. I can make some suggestions. Start with 'None Dare Call it Conspiracy'. BTW, when you buy that book, pay cash.

I don't agree with Kucinich much at all in politics, He's of a socialist philosophy and it is wrong to take in order to give. ..However I highly respect him for coming out and telling people the truth in this and on other issues.

That being said, I hope his comments on the house floor this week go down in the history books for all time.

Then read 'Atlas shrugged', Then 'The Prince' (the one by Machiavelli), then you will be in the right frame of mind to understand what is happening to your virginal sense of truth and right or wrong.

Then read 'The Federalist Papers', and then 'The Constitution of the US'. If you are still ok with what is happening now, then you have no reading retention skills.

BTW: Drudge, this headline is fraudulent.

Citigroup Buys Wachovia

Wrong, Wachovia was *seized* the bad debt was siphoned off to the tax payers then it was given to Citigroup.

The headline implies that Citigroup bought it in order to save its assets, because it was undervalued and thats not true, Citigroup got all the good and none of the bad thanks to the government. This should be illegal.

Obama has a lead in NC as of today's PPP poll.

The sale of Wachovia, based in Charlotte, NC, may have a negative effect on McCain's presidential hopes in NC.

Since Wachovia has what little is left of the retirement nest egg, I must repeat:

I guess the major problem for me is whether I accept the Bush folks stealing my retirement nest egg or am willing to forfeit that for new leadership in Washington. I tell you, 'tis a puzzlement. herm

Damnnnnnnn So the Wachovia is no more and citigroup is it. Damn they went from a Masculine sounding name of Wachovia to a more feminine sounding citigroup. How dastardly is that??

Larry

Wachovia too?! Good god.

This is a glimpse into the near-future, courtesy of the US Congress. Whether that's good or bad long-term, nobody can say.

But dozens more banks will no doubt fail, and their assets and branches seized by big banks up in New York, with very, very deep pockets. And the Treasury Secretary and Fed don't need permission from anyone to make it happen.

I know of four other banks that will be gone by next Friday, if Congress doesn't act. They probably deserve to fail. But the good Representatives from podunkvilles all across this great land have decided they don't want to have local banks--that they would prefer to have the superbanks take over a lot more of them. And they will. The only question is, will they be done at $30 a share? Or at 30 cents?

I second RiR's #44 post. I have clients (banks) that are desperate and will just get eaten up by the big boys. It's funny that so many complain that it is the big multinationals that are hard to regulate which caused this mess, yet inaction by our leaders is allowing them to to grow bigger and harder to regulate.

Wachovia moved from Winston-Salem to Charlotte, yet there are still many workers here in the Triad. Being the buyee is making the community anxious as it awaits the fallout.

wachovia has 20k employees in charlotte and job losses are expected in the range of 3-4k. citigroup will move their retail ops to charlotte and some wachovia ops will go to wherever they are.
