Okay. Once again it is time for the DR Righties to explain why it is a GOOD thing for McCain, Bush, and the Rtards in congress to fight AGAINST Country of Origin Labeling for foods.

How about it? Don't everyone respond at once.

Everybody is being very careful not to say whether or not any of this crap has found its way to the US. There was a time, many years ago now, when brand names meant that you could be sure that you weren't buying inferior products made who knew where or how. You were prepared to pay a little more for that assurance of quality. Anybody who thinks any of these brands names are worth anything these days simply isn't paying attention.

I just got a snickers bar and on the reverse lable it says, (and I am not making this up),

I won't even eat takeout Chinese food unless I've been to the place and checked it out. Now I gotta worry about going to the grocery store and purchasing food tainted by those dirty fuckers?

They are the real fuckers - do anything to increase their shareholders' wealth. An' if that means producing our food/snacks in the most polluted country on the planet (thanks to their corporate brethren in the electronics/manufacturing sectors) then fine.

The companies that made the decision to make food products over there deserve a huge hit to their reputation and a corresponding decrease in sales. But that probably won't happen.

Betterred-how much of China's poison are you willing to import before asking them politely to stop?

Granted-Companies doing business with them should take a hit-but-doesn't China bear any responsibility for THEIR actions?

Aside from your ignorance and bigotry, I think most people would like better food labeling. Not all things are motivated by greed and politics (except in the tiny universe of Lefty online bloggers who have never kissed a girl).

The fact is that most food in America is safe and food scares are rare. People have other things to think about, and don't worry about tainted food until it's brought to their attention.

Another fact that most morons don't grasp is that there's really no such thing anymore as 'country of origin.' Not in cars, sewing machines, electronics or cookies.

Components (from electric motors to resin to microchips to powdered milk) move across borders. A few years ago there was a series of scares in the US over tainted dog food, with the blame going to an ingredient from China.

Turns out China had imported some tainted base material to make the ingredient to make the dog food.

Well, that's your dose of reality for today. You may now return to random bitching, racism and bigotry. In other words: Liberal ignorance.

People have other things to think about, and don't worry about tainted food until it's brought to their attention.
