Obama did a great job. But, in the interest of bipartisanship, it was nice of McCain to reverse himself and actually show up.

Obama did everything he needed to do, and McCain was treading water.

This report from Rasmussen is probably more accurate...especially the statement about partisans in the electorate.

"As for the candidates, 36% thought Obama won, 33% gave the advantage to McCain, and 31% were not sure. Partisans in the electorate lined up behind their candidate in a way that would make spin room handlers proud. By a 67% to 3% margin, Obama supporters thought he won the debate. By a 73% to 2% margin, McCain voters thought their man came out ahead.

Overall, ratings for the debate were down, possibly because of the Friday night scheduling. Fifty-five percent (55%) of likely voters say they watched the entire event and 12% said they saw none of it.

Five percent (5%) of voters say the debate changed how they would vote, but the changes were equally divided between Obama and McCain supporters. Saturday interviews for the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Pollthe first post debate interviews--suggest that little has changed following the debate and Obama retains a modest lead over McCain."

First, Why?

Second, my poll was of those respondents who watched the debate.

"First, Why?"

Because of these statements. Rasmussen even went on to break down thwe respondents by partisanship. I especially liked his statement about spin room handlers.

Your poll doesn't indicate that nearly half the likely voters didn't watch the entire debate.

That's because my poll was of those who watched the debate.

..and of those who watched the debate, Obama won.

Hell, even your poll concludes that Obama won.

"Barack Obama once again attracts 50% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%."

I can't wait for the VP debate.
Palin is a moron.

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAA

from my point of view
the debate was a split decision

and close

but thats not the point

mccain should have wiped the floor with obama
because he's so "experienced" in foreign policy

also
both obama and mccain can handle their own
mccains try for postponement probably has to do with the coming week's vp debate

" coming week's vp debate "

Next SNL will be worth staying up late.

I thought Obama won the debate by a nose, but the friend I watched the debate with, also a Dem, thought it was a tie. My friend, however, thought that a tie for Obama in a national security debate, McCain's supposed strength, was a victory for Barack.

......McCain was lying so much I could swear I saw his nose growing by an inch.....

.....and what was with his weird smirking when Obama was talking ?....looked like the happy faces you see on kids waiting for the short bus to take them to school........

John was probably still mad his suspension stunt blew up in his face and he got chewed up and spit out by the Dems in Washington.

Turned what he thought would be a home run hit into a triple play.

It's not who won, it's what won.
