"It is difficult to understand how Lehman Brothers is unable to produce a single internal document that went to or from the CEO's office over the past six months. It is also difficult to understand why there is no log, file, or other record documenting where these internal documents went." -- Rep. Henry Waxman (D.-Calif.), House Oversight Committee

Capitalism unfettered ain't it grand.

4 more years of McSame!!!

No documents?

Wasn't Sarbanes-Oxley (Sarbox) supposed to force companies to keep documents and e-mails?

Quick, quick, let's pass more regulation that will be ignored!

"It is difficult to understand how Lehman Brothers is unable to produce a single internal document that went to or from the CEO's office over the past six months,"

Not difficult at all.

They destroyed 'em all quicker than Cheney did when took a shotgun to the WH servers.

If Spud were an investigator here he'd look around Lehman Bros fer a man sized safe.

Be Well.

I found the documents!

They are right next to the FBI files the Clintons lost back in the 90s!

Quick, quick, let's pass more regulation that will be ignored!

If certain laws are being broken, then those laws, not the lawbreakers, are of course in error?

That is what they seem to be saying.

Everyone involved should be thrown into dark, dank, cells UNDER the prison.
and fed bullshit twice a day. ALL of their assets seized, and used to bail out the Company they destroyed.

Or get Golden Parachutes along with a chair on some board of directors until things cool off.....

Vote McSame!

Looks like it's more than just the Brothers Lehmann in hot water over this one.

When all the banks and thrifts failed in the 80' and 90's I use to get especially upset that the highest up's where often kept "on retainer" by fslic and fdic.

Why???? I would ask. One finally explained to me that the loan structures where so complex that only the signors to the loan docs had any idea about the value of the different loans....So they were kept on to maximize the loan portfolio values as they were liquidated.....

Regardless of who is at fault (AND YOU REALLY ARE STUPID IF YOU ARE BLAMING A "PARTY" FOR THIS) some of the employees must be retained to get the most from asset liquidation as possible...

Quick! More tax cuts for the uber rich!

line'em up!

Hey, if Bush and Cheney can ignore laws and do whatever they want without regard to oversight, if they can "lose" millions of emails and claim that they are not part of the executive department and don't come under executive rules and regulations and get away with it because Congress has no balls, why then Lehman Execs can do the same damn thing. After all, they are Repugnants too!

**** Quick, quick, let's pass more regulation that will be ignored!

......so if a guy holds up a gas station and steals a hundred bucks, you want the law enforced and the criminal in jail......

......but if a CEO steals a hundred million, we should bail out his company, and keep him on retainer for a few million more ?.......

Sadly a newsworthy flag

Oversight is for the little people.

You seem to have forgotten your high school civics. The legislative branch passes laws, the executive branch ENFORCES laws. Where was the Gonzales Justice Department? That was Bush's job. He didn't do it. He looked the other way and let it happen and you blame Congress? You don't know what you are talking about.

......he forgot.......

Gee, Don't ya know, they dumped the files. They all learned from the Richard Nixon regime that incriminating files are not to be kept. As for looking for blame, there is plenty to spread around. Take, for example, the Freddy Mac & Fanny Mae debacle. Who had their heads buried in the trough of Freddy Mac's & Freddy Mae's lobbyists? Christopher Dodd was #1 and Barack Obama was #2 in the Senate. Then, there was Representative Barnie Frank of MA. Now, these same individual are pushing for their friends to be bailed-out...Small wonder...They were leaning on lending institutions to lend money to people that couldn't afford the loans. I've even heard rumors that some of the loans were for 125% of the appraised value of the property. Now, there's some real intelligence at work. I think that lobbying should be banned. It's nothing but organized bribery and corruption.

Err, excuse me. It's not difficult to understand at all.

The Lehman Brothers CEO and his partners in crime destroyed them all. duh

It's known as getting rid of all evidence of crimes you have committed.

Isn't that what every crook and murderer tries to do?

Quick, quick, let's pass more regulation that will be ignored!

More regulations aren't the answer; serious jail time is!

no papers.. no paycheck

Until we deal with this issue of 'a different set of laws for different people', it's a moot discussion.

Why should a regular guy respect the law when you have fat white rich mofos committing crimes against humanity and they don't even get a drumming in the press.

By that scale, destroying vital documents doesn't seem to be that big of a deal.

It's getting closer to revolution time.

No revolution will occur. This Country is too fat and lazy for that to happen.

You are right in saying we shouldn't be blaming a party, but we can blame an ideology. And that ideology is that regulation is bad and that corporations will do what's best for society. There are plenty in both parties that have that belief and it is not only erroneous, but disastrous.

You have to have regulations.

You also have to have punsihmsnt for fraudulent activities.
