Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's written response to investigators on the Senate Armed Services Committee marks the first time a high-ranking White House official has formally acknowledged that White House discussions led to the CIA's use of waterboarding and other coercive methods.

He's a lying muthafucka and every man woman and troll here knows it!

As I understand it, tools too!

FTFA: In particular, Rice wrote in the Sept. 12 statement that officials discussed simulated torture techniques that elite U.S. soldiers were subjected to as part of a survival training program, and that she and other officials were told that such methods "had been deemed not to cause significant physical or psychological harm."

Torture, often ot the death by water has a very long and inglorious history.

The Romans used it back before their empire crumbled.

Japanese soldiers who did this to Americans during WWII were sentenced for the crime.

Fer Neo-Condi to even try to suggest that Waterboarding is not a physically and mentally destructive process with sometimes fatal consequences is desperation incarnate.

Any BushCo apparatchiks still going with that "a few bad apples" bullshit anymore?

Yeah, Spud didn't think so.

Thy are fucking war criminals, the lot of them.

Jail or firing squad sez Spud.

Of course, we all know they are gonna get away with this egregious shit don't we?

Just sayin'.

Be Well.

Damit! I accidentally read part of a Spud post. That's seven seconds of life I'll never get back.

But to the main point .......

Of course they discussed it. With every Liberal squealing like an injured pig, it had to come up in discussions.

And the expert conclusion was that SIMULATED torture (sprinkling water on the face and yelling BOO!) does not cause long-term harm.

But Oooooooooooo, they discussed it! Whatsamatta Lefties? Does this spoil your entire whine that Bush doesn't discuss anything?

FF for Vernon. Every time he comments without reading the article cracks me up.

FF or Hotsauce just for pointing that out...

Whine Whine whine you ignorant libbie dog turds!

FACT!

Does this mean taxpayers will have to pay for the defense lawyers at the war crimes trials?

LOL! "war crimes trials"

LOL!

FACT!

Vernon's got a cut 'n paste response for each thread like this. It's like Mad Libs (get it??? Hardeeeharr). Just insert a noun or verb or adverb depending on the subject of the story, and the "libruuuls" and "defeatocrats" portions write themselves.

The American Public.

The fabric of White House LIES is unraveling more quickly these days!

And the expert conclusion was that SIMULATED torture (sprinkling water on the face and yelling BOO!) does not cause long-term harm.

~Vermin

And we know the torture was only simulated because the CIA shot video of their interrogations so that we can all see it fer ourselves?

Oh right, they destroyed the vids despite being told not to.

Soooo... them guys down in Gitmo only simulated their suicide attempts as well?

If Verm is cool with torture sorry "enhanced interrogation techniques" then Verm must also be cool with McLame's treatment at the hands of the Vietcong too, eh?

A little water, panties on McAncient's head and the occasional shouting of BOO sez Verm.

All good fun and games sez Verm.

The FAIL is strong in this one.

Vernon has got to be bar none the dumbest poster on this site. That is no small feat.

Vernon,
"White House discussions led to the CIA's use of waterboarding and other coercive methods"

That doesn't mean that they just talked about it. You have to read the whole sentence.

sorry, you have to read and understand the whole sentence.

Hey Spud! It is not over until it is over...member Tator?... we can do nothing about it while the Republicans keep the White House. Which is, of course, the main reason they are so desperate to hold on to power. We all know that Bush is hiding behind the mystical cloak of "Executive Priviledge".

When we break the "spell" and recover the White House all bets are off. And don't put it past this President to try and create more chaos on the way out to muddy the waters even more with. It is his

Modus Operandi!

If this is true,

Rice said the purpose of the meetings was "to ensure that CIA's proposed interrogation program complied fully with U.S. legal obligations."

Then they failed in their mission and someone needs to be held accountable. As I understand it laws were broken and so they did NOT fully comply with the US legal obs.

But, shhhh! Let's not speak of this just now!...there are only 38 days to go!

Tempus Fugit (when you are having so much fun!)

Then we can take care of the People's Business!

SIC SEMPER TYRANNUS !

So G0BAMA in the debates tonite!

and

SEMPER FI (just "Tossed" that one in for the Tosser!)

then we hope that we don't get fooled again!!!!!

Tough talk there vern. If they did this to you, you'd wet your pants before they even pushed the board back.

~Donner, party of five.

Spud is chuffed to hear yer still so optimistic.

In truth, Spud's cynicism is not so complete as that statement would have ya believe. Spud was mostly trying to start a dialogue on the subject.

Spud hopes fer the best and plans fer worst and that way all of Spud's surprises are pleasant ones.

SIC SEMPER TYRANNUS !

Damn straight!!

The sleepers are awakening.

Is good.

The White House Staff should be shipped off the Hague for trial. They planned it, ordered it and prosecuted low level staff for following their orders. Scum sucking, cowardly, wasteful, inhumane, power abusers.

I never voted for this administration.
I campaigned heavily aginst it.
The blood of the innocent that was killed by an illegal war is not on my hands.
I never agreeed to torture when it was used on an american or by an american.
I never took the position of Pontius Pilate either.
If I could have stopped it I would have.
Ceremonial handwashing is nothing more than appeasement to a group of war pigs....

Fuckin

FACT!

The scary aspect of this revelation is how it now passes as a quasi non-revelation. Nothing will be done, no one will be held accountable and half the population in the states now agrees with torture as an acceptable measure.

Is anyone really suprised by any of this?

Did Republicans really believe the lies they defended all along?

It is hard to imagine.

Whenther or not anyone any Gitmo "deserved" to be tortured (a point I am not conceding, by the way), the fact that the US has openly accepted the use of torture means we cannot credibly criticize others when they do it to our troops. Instead of being an ideal to be looked up to, we are becoming the schoolyard bully.
