"I'm not being vindictive. I'm not trying to reach up from the grave and get the NFL But any doctor who doesn't connect concussions with long-term effects should be ashamed of themselves." -- former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson, one of 12 athletes to leave their brains to a concussion study after their deaths

They're being stored in a very small test tube.

Poor northguy. obviously still upset about all of the ass kicking he received as a youth.

Eberly-no, its more of having been a TA and having to not mark jock's tests and exams-they all went right to the prof. Amazing how well they did for being clueless the few times they showed up in class.

Of course, we all see the rocket scientists/jocks on TV, like OJ.

I have brain scarring which the doctors claim are from concussions suffered playing football. an MRI after some horrendous headaches I had recently showed the damage.

no biggie though, as the area of the brain affected deals with golf-club face alignment at the moment of impact -- at least that's what I tell the customers I take golfing.

who was the nfl running-back that claimed that boxing was less violent of a sport than football?
there should be no surprises once these brains are studied -- banging your head against another mans head while sprinting -- helmet or not -- is not recommended.

Of course, we all see the rocket scientists/jocks on TV, like OJ.

great example. shows what you know....which is nothing.

Have you ever been around any athletes really????

obviously not.

a "TA"? where, in middle school?

All they need is Travis Pastrana's brain. The king of concussions.

Some of the ones who donated their brains to science - Kemp, Bunning, Watt - wind up in Congress, where no on knows the difference. herm

"TA"? where, in middle school?

University of Akron, 1977-78. Course was "American Institutions", sort of a freshman history/poli sci course.

"Ixnay on the ottenray. "

- Igor in Young Frankenstein

"Abbey...something..."

Seriously, though, there is growing evidence that repeated concussions can lead to violent behavior in later years. I'm surprised Oj hasn't trotted this excuse out yet.

Just get Troy Aikman's, that'll do.

Just get Troy Aikman's, that'll do.

Or mine.

Meh, they don't need 'em....

One of our sons has had at least three concussions, one a level three. Head injuries are nothing to mess around with.

"12 Athletes Donate Brains to Concussion Study"

Did they agree to donate them before or after they have died?

abbie normal.

think i'll leave my knees to science as they're nearly ruined from running a couple of miles a day, playing league racquetball, competitive softball for fifteen years, etc...wonder if they'll be able to tell what ails other athletes?

p.s. - oohrah - concussions can also lead to grand mal seizures - nothing to mess with - it will affect every aspect of the rest of his life.

All they need is Travis Pastrana's brain. The king of concussions.

Or Mohammed Ali. It was sad watching him light the Olympic torch in Atlanta in 1996.
