Embattled Detroit Lions team president and general manager Matt Millen has been removed from the position after seven years. Millen's teams went 31-84, losing 10 more games than any other NFL team during his seven-plus seasons.

THANK GOD!

Free at last, free at last!!!

The 2009 Draft won't be the same without him.

CBS Sports reports he was fired.

Finally.

We'll give you Packers GM Ted Thompson for a conditional 12th round pick in 2015.

Maybe they will pick another position besides receiver in the first round.

He should have never been hired. These ex-players who spent the majority of their life using their heads as battering rams are rarely suited for GM. The job involves long-hours, no-holidays, stressful, competitive, regulated, and completely open to media/public scrutiny decisions. Just because they can talk about football on ESPN and had gridiron glory 30 years ago doesn't mean they are qualified to run a half billion dollar business.

The fans turned on Millen years ago, I'm really surprised he lasted this long.
David Pleat summed it up best. "If they chant 'Sack the manager', they think about sacking the manager,". "If they chant 'Sack the board', they definitely sack the manager."

A few other cities in the league should take lessons from Detroit and Derby County. Once it all goes tits-up the fans are responsible for setting the often blind, deaf, and dumb board members straight.

jOakland are you paying attention?

We'll give you Packers GM Ted Thompson

Drafted:
Aaron Rodgers
Nick Collins
Greg Jennings
Jason Spitz
Daryn Colledge
AJ Hawk
Aaron Rouse
Korey Hall
Mason Crosby
Brandon Jackson
Deshawn Wynn

brought in:
coach-Mike McCarthy
charles Woodson
Marguand Manuel
Ryan Picket
Ryan Grant

...all these guys are still on the team most start. He has hit on way more players than he has missed. He chose a good, fresh, young coach when everyone else wanted him to pick from the 'used bin'. The team he was left went 4-12, the pack went 13-3 last year.

Oh, but he won't let Farve run the team like his Mississippi tree farm, lets hang 'em!

Lions will continue to be the doormat of the NFC.

Troy Aikman now owns 20% of the Raiders.

Knowing the Lions as I do, this wouldn't shock me.

The Lions' problem is bigger than Millen - it goes to the top. The Lion's was a great team in the '50's. Ever since then, under the ownership of the Ford's, they've won 1 playoff game. 1!!!

Millen may have been the worst GM in sports history, but the Fords have to be the worst owners in sports history.

I am glad Millen is gone, but I don't expect a turnaround for this organization anytime soon.

Now, the big question is when Millen publishes the photos of Lions owner William Clay Ford fondling little boys. That is the only explanation of how Millen has lasted as long as he did.

Hey Jeff, what are the odds the Lion's will still pick a wide receiver as their first draft pick?

Andy,

I would bet the odds are high. Either that, or they'll pass up on a desperately-needed linebacker, like a David Harris, and take an unproven and injury-prone QB like Drew Stanton.

Actually, they're talking to Isiah Thomas right now........

Prayer works!

4 or 5 months ago I predicted the Lions would go 13-3 ... It can still happen and I believe it will, firing Millen is the very very first step. All I can say is FINALLY!

Now they can go from being a 3 win team back to being a perennial 6 win team.

At least they had one, and will probably hire a new one. That cheap asshole Mike Brown won't hire one for Cincinnati.

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We only have hope and change. Wait, haven't we heard that before!

McSame just announced they'll resuspend their campaign so John can rescue the Lions. At least they'll have one cute cheerleader. if they can taech saint sarah to spell Lions.

They will probably hire Kwami Kilpatrick.
