Some great rope line video from Joe Biden's recent Ohio swing, where he was asked by an anti-pollution campaigner about clean coal -- a controversial approach in Democratic circles for which Obama has voiced support, particularly during the Kentucky primary.

Biden's apparent answer: He supports clean coal for China, but not for the United States.

When McCain's camp pounced on this the Obama camp responded by saying John McCain was putting out another false charge and called him dishonorable because Obama and Biden do support clean coal:

"We're not supporting clean coal."

~Joe Biden

And . . . there goes Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the Biden VP pick was actually another giant Karl Rovian Trojan Horse.

clean coal is a an oxymoron

and the right has by way of stupidity forced the lefts hand into "accepting" clean coal

Actually, it was the left's refusal to consider nuclear power that has burned 20 million additional tons of coal per year--every year--since about 1982. But this can all stop, once Obama figures out how run an internal-combustion engine with a windmill, atop each car.

If the McCain camp doesn't run those, "We're not supporting clean coal" and "No coal plants here in America" lines in Ohio and PA until election day they are damn stupid...

Well, we know he's not stupid. I predict the first campaign commercials with Biden's hoof-in-mouth-of-the-week will be running by Thursday afternoon, in a coal-producing swing state nearest you.

Yer setting the gaff bar awful low aren't ya?

"Stand up, Chuck" was a gaff.

This? Not so much.

In this case a woman voter with an interest in seeing an increased emphasis on wind and solar is questioning Joe on a rope line about his commitment to clean energy.

Joe reassures her that he was the one of the first to raise the issue of solar power and global warming decades ago.

Goes on to explain that China is burning so much dirty coal over there that the pollution is impacting the US negatively and that because of that it's not in the long term interest to build more coal plants in the US as part of the overall energy independence strategy.

Making the plants themselves cleaner is one thing but to try treating the coal with magic pixie dust (R&D monies coming from the taxpayer) in order to make it cleaner is a boondoggle.

Geothermal, Hydro, Solar, Wind, and Tidal energy are all a lot cleaner than the cleanest coal plant and a helluva lot safer than nuclear power.

Obama and Biden had an honest difference of opinion on the subject early on in the campaign and that is prolly responsible fer any confusion here.

Bottom line?

He's still 100 times better than Scary Failin.

The "Who am I and Why am I here? candidate of this election.

Be Wel.

again, clean coal is nice in concept, but we need to ensure we don't fall into another synfuel, tax dodge disaster
