....the fire on the fifth and fourth floor of the hotel broke out because those floors were housing the mysterious steel boxes under the heavy guard of U S marines and no one including the Pakistani security forces and the security men of the hotel were allowed to go near with the them. These boxes were shifted inside the hotel when the Admiral Mike Mullen met PM Yousuf Raza Gilani and others...

Great! Another story with ZERO content.

living up to your name, I see:>)

Did I miss something?

Were they cooking meth and caught the place on fire?

Well, then what the fuck WAS in those boxes? Oh, no one says. But let's make up a story about it.

your link doesn't reflect the story, I would rather not scroll thru the site, link directly to the story please.

Bani... I don't think it was anything.

The Marines were there to provide security for American top brass who came for a meeting with our top brass. The boxes most likely contained communication equipment.

We allow people to provide their own security details, and this is all it was.

Anyway, the US embassy, has said today:

Monday, September 22, 2008
RAWALPINDI: The US embassy in Islamabad contradicted a report appeared in The News under the title, "Was it an attack on the US Marines". A spokesman of the embassy said the report was baseless and contained many facts which were not true. He said the reporter should have sought the embassy point of view before filing the report that according to him contained allegations without any foundation.

Editor's note: The above-mentioned version of the US embassy was to be included in the report published today. However, it could not be done because the report was finalized late in the night.

the mysterious steel boxes

Those weren't "Steel Boxes" you idiots!

They were Man Sized Safes!

Spud smells the rank and fetid odour of Cheney here.

Two Marines killed in hotel bomb.

Monday, September 22, 2008
ISLAMABAD: The US Department of Defence at Pentagon has confirmed the death of its two marines in Hotel Marriott blast in Islamabad. According to GEO News, the Pentagon said on Sunday its two marines succumbed to injuries in the blast. The soldiers were deployed in the US embassy in Islamabad, it said. Pentagon said the names of the US marines could not be revealed prior to informing families of the victims.

Marriott to be rebuilt in 3 months.

You won't be able to tell what happened there.

ISLAMABAD: Sadruddin Hashwani, the owner of the Marriott Hotel, has assured employees that not one of them will be rendered jobless, as he plans to reconstruct the hotel within the next three months at an estimated cost of over half a billion rupees.

His assurance must have come as a great relief to some 1000 employees of the hotel who were suddenly faced with the prospect of becoming jobless after the hotel was destroyed in Saturday's suicide attack.

"Let me make it very clear to you that not a single employee would be rendered jobless as they will all be getting their salaries during the period of reconstruction of the hotel", said Mr. Hashwani while talking to The News.

He said one of the employees who died in the blast had five small daughters. From now onwards, he said, they are his daughters and he would take care of them. Hashwani said that all these employees would be actively taking part in the rehabilitation of the hotel. But, he said, there is another possibility that they might be given them two months leave with pay. He said he had already started working on the rehabilitation plan.

Replying to a question about the cost of rehabilitation, Hashwani said although it was too early to give an exact amount, according to initial estimates it would cost Rs600-700 million. He said although he had set a three-month deadline to reconstruct the hotel, his major concern would be to arrange furniture within this short time.

Replying to a question about the Americans staying in his hotel, he wondered why this was being cited to justify the attack. He said all over the world hotels do not refuse stay to anybody and it was wrong to focus on a few Americans, as there were people from other countries present at the hotel as well. He said he was so sorry to see the loss of human lives on such a scale and repeatedly said he would not let any one become jobless.

Cheney was inside one of the boxes?

Is that his "undisclosed location"?

Pakistan has refused FBI help.

Meanwhile "someone" seems to have kidnapped the Afghan ambassador.

We will get answers a lot faster than the FBI.... FBI is too pussy to kidnap people and squeeze them for info.

Given the size of the fire, I expected the marriott to implode after a few hours.

Maybe we can get the NIST to explain why the pakis make better steel than us?

Nist...lol

US says Pak raids not against UN Charter

Pentagon says US has the right to hit targets inside Pakistan and that crossing the border in pursuit of terrorists doesn't violate the UN Charter.
