"The Democratic National Committee, using publicly available records, has identified 177 lobbyists working for the McCain campaign as either aides, policy advisers, or fundraisers. Of those 177 lobbyists, at least 83 have in recent years lobbied for the financial industry McCain now attacks."
-- Mother Jones magazine

I liked McCain in 2004 but he's degenerated into a sleazy hypocritical panderer who seems to think what he did 40 years ago is supposed to make him immune to attack.

Isn't it over 150?

Does anybody have a number on the Obama campaign? And im not be sarcastic.

I know he has a least some, but I can't find out the exact number. He was supposed to be sending lobbyist money back. Don't guess we'll ever really get rid of them.

ok mccain has lobbyist, obama has people responsible for the mortgage crisis as advisors.

this tit for tat bs could go on for hours, which is the point. i thought obama was changing things?

obama has people responsible for the mortgage crisis as advisors.
Obama HAD, briefly somebody who worked for freddy or fannie. One of the supposed bad guys left it in 1998, before Mcsame supported the Loot and Pillage law. Mcsame's economic guru ( Dr. Phil)wrote the legislation that McSame supported.

He cited comments by the former head of Fannie Mae's government relations office, who was quoted in Politico as saying, "When I see photographs of Sen. McCain's staff, it looks to me like the team of lobbyists who used to report to me."

"Folks," Obama said, "you can't make this stuff up."

He does have the former CEO of fanny may. Good choice obama, he knows how to get the loot.

Now that the subject has been brought up, how many campaign doners do you have to have at $25 and $50 a pop to get all the money obama has raised? someone please do the math for me.

McCain is nothing but a lying 2 faced Fuck.

"have more current and former lobbyist bundlers than any other candidate but McCain has more current and former lobbyists working on his campaign staff than any other candidate in the 2008 presidential election"

What is the reporters definition of "more current"?

McCain had the lobbyists donations and Obama has the lobbyists wives donations. Looks like a wash to me.

It's not more current it's more / current, as in the quantity that he has, not how recently they've been lobbyists.

Where are those to defend the first amendment??

Them ain't candies over at the Obama's campaign.

Lets see, how many former Freddie Mac and Fannie May execs are advising Obama?

Also isn't it ironic how much money Obama got from these two financial institutions that had to be bailed out by the government.

"Folks," Obama said, "you can't make this stuff up."

Bullshit! OBummer is living proof you CAN make shit up, as you go....have you dumbtards never considered the circumstances surrounding his "rise" to fame? Here's a clue. just to help you achieve objectevity..consider him a Republican.....THEN give your assesment...

"Here's a clue. just to help you achieve objectevity..consider him a Republican.....THEN give your assesment..."
if obama was a republican, with his urban revitalization agenda, with his troop withdrawal agenda, with his universal health care agenda, with his agenda to cut taxes for the middle class and raise taxes on the affluent, with his agenda to raise the educational standard by eliminating the 'teach to the test' mandate, with his agenda to end oil subsidies, with his agenda to subsidize corporations that keep jobs in America rather than outsource them... if Obama was a republican with all these same progressive agendas...
I'd vote for him in a minute

Yo ProudToBeLib... me too !

"You can win the battle if you're not in the war" so personally I don't give a damn where Obama get's the money to drive the neo-cons into an early grave. The grave itself is reward enough.

Taking on the corruption peddlers doesn't come cheap so I give Obama all the kudos in the world for having the guts to go after them on their own turf.

It isn't easy to convince a browbeaten, demoralized, jobless, homeless, under educated population that there is indeed hope for their future.

Obama has opened the door. All you have to do is walk through it.

You come up with the oddest shit, klifferd. I mean, there are a lot of real things that are bad that you can say about McCain and Republicans. Why do you make up stuff like this and "why do republicans hate America" crap?

Stick to the facts. There are enough denigrating truths about the right you can come up with if feel you absolutely have to spew hatred.

i just hope the lobbyists are conservative when
it comes time to pick judges for the supreme court

What would you call taking FICA withholding and giving it to the wealthiest in the nation?

I'd like to see a similar graphic as the one in that article with the facts on obama... just to see. so when people start talking crap, I have some facts to back me up..

if the facts don't support my opinion. well then I'll think about changing my opinion...

T

reality bitchslaps the Right again:

Senator John McCain's campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations, current and former officials say.

A 2004 photograph from a report by the Homeownership Alliance, an advocacy group for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, shows John McCain with Ken Guenther, a former chairman of the group, left, and David Lereah of the National Association of Realtors.
Mr. McCain, the Republican candidate for president, has recently begun campaigning as a critic of the two companies and the lobbying army that helped them evade greater regulation as they began buying riskier mortgages with implicit federal backing. He and his Democratic rival, Senator Barack Obama, have donors and advisers who are tied to the companies.

But last week the McCain campaign stepped up a running battle of guilt by association when it began broadcasting commercials trying to link Mr. Obama directly to the government bailout of the mortgage giants this month by charging that he takes advice from Fannie Mae's former chief executive, Franklin Raines, an assertion both Mr. Raines and the Obama campaign dispute.

Incensed by the advertisements, several current and former executives of the companies came forward to discuss the role that Rick Davis, Mr. McCain's campaign manager and longtime adviser, played in helping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac beat back regulatory challenges when he served as president of their advocacy group, the Homeownership Alliance, formed in the summer of 2000. Some who came forward were Democrats, but Republicans, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed their descriptions.

"The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again," said Robert McCarson, a former spokesman for Fannie Mae, who said that while he worked there from 2000 to 2002, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac together paid Mr. Davis's firm $35,000 a month.

If your saying that Obama took huge sums from Raines or Johnson, please provide LINKS or STFU!

The only items I've read are that Johnson was on the VP selection committe and Raines took a couple of phone calls about general housing questions. BTW, since McCrash has been railing against greed and CEO payoffs, why is Carly Fiorina still an advisor after she got a $42 million package for leaving HP in a big mess?

Why do you make up stuff like this and "why do republicans hate America" crap?

You all have been saying this about Obama for a year already. What goes around, comes around

"What would you call taking FICA withholding and giving it to the wealthiest in the nation?"

Typical liberal fallacy. Just because you tax rich people "less" does not mean that you are taxing the middle class "more." If middle class taxpayers also saw their bill reduced, their money clearly was not used to subsidize the decrease in rich peoples' taxes.

This is all a moot point since spending has never decreased along with taxes, but it's still worthy of correction.

Thank God someone's building that ARC, what did you say, NO ONE? Oh my GOD! We're doomed! Not even Obama can save us now!

All that money, so little time! Can't spend it all, 'must give it to the government, they'll know what to do!' I'm sure of that!

Good night, God bless, will the last one to lose their job, please turn out the lights!

We gotta save energy, you know!

The Goat is finally set straight in the great who-hates-America debate.

But Repubs don't hate their country ... exactly. They simply envision it as a cash cow, to be milked relentlessly until there isn't a drop left in the old udder.

And STILL lunatics out there bad-mouth the party that can save the nation. This is just beyond me. Someone - ANYone - continuing to support the status quo over real hope is either blatant Klan-style racism or out and out insanity. herm

why is Carly Fiorina still an advisor after she got a $42 million package for leaving HP in a big mess?

That's a sexist question. Don't you know McSame was a POW and didn't have advisers for 5 years? Unless you count the VC who wrote his confessions for him.

As I have been saying for a while now, I honestly think McCain is trying to blow this election as a big FU to the RNC. Why else would you get on the stump and rail up and down against lobbyists when you have 177 of them on your staff, a fact that can be proved? Like Obama says "they think you are stupid"
