Luff the "suprise" part here.

Yeah, that's believable.

Does this mean anything in the long term scheme of things? Is the Russian bear offering Iran intel at the least in it's showdown with the US? Does Israel have a right to bitch about any of this?

Be Well.

Any headline that spells "harbor" with a "U" is clearly communist.

Any headline that spells "harbor" with a "U" is clearly communist.

Or Canadian.

Like in "colour" and "honour".

We likee the additional "U".

It gives us a mapley syrupy flavour!

yeah, what's up with that?

isreal knows that the russians will have no problem firing back, should they be in the vicinity of isreali aggression.
200 nuclear weapons? pshaw! We,ve got 20000! Wanna' play terrorists?

Thought not.

When Palin said that Russia was a country to keep an eye on, she was making an astute observation. Libs said that Russia was not a threat, were they wrong again?

She's evidently not astute enough to keep us out of a nuclear war. With the Russian Army decades behind ours and the U.S. troops being preoccupied, the only option Russia has is a nuclear war where we both lose.

Oh fuck off Sarah was punting. Anyone with a brain knew the minute that Bushling said he could see in his homeboy Vlad's soul Russia was a problem because Bushling demonstrated poor judgement in just about every thing. Didn't help either that he decided to "go it alone" and everyone that wasn't with us was against us... and he sent his sovietologist to Isreal.

Every post Mr. Thom makes should be read aloud to a video of Jim Carey as Ace Ventura bent over and using his ass as a puppet. What "libs" said that, Mr. Thom? The same guys that sold you that new 50" plasma television for $600? You're a bad parody troll of a bad parody troll and even the right wingers here are catching on to your act. How many layers deep does your disingenuity go?

Libs said that Russia was not a threat, were they wrong again?

-- FWTHOM

When you let two-bit countries like Georgia keep sticking a knife in the eye of the Russian Bear and then act "suprised" when Russia gets pissed off and retaliates, aren't you then the one who is being a phony hypocrite?

Russia has billions of dollars in oil and natural gas production agreements with Iran. Under Bush and the Neocons who control him -- both the Neocons in our own government and in the Israeli government -- continually threatening to nuke Iran at the slightest provocation (or false flag operation) is it any wonder Russia is looking to rattle its own sabre in the Middle East as a "warning" to the Neocons to keep their hands off Iran?

If Iran threatens Israel for real, or if Iran attacks Israel FIRST, then I have no problem with turning Iran into a parking lot. Nor would I then have a problem with helping to defend Israel with our own military. But I'm sure not for a nuke war with Iran simply because they are a country on Israel's long, long list of perceived enemies. No more of Israel -- AGAIN -- using our our military to fight and die for their country. Isreal has no problem with picking the fight and then expecting the U.S to finish it.

Why are you surprised Russia is setting up camp in the ME after all the nuke talk Israel's been blathering about lately? Israel and AIPAC have been beating the "let's nuke Iran" war drums for the last couple years. Russia would be stupid not to show their military presence in the ME as a protest of a "Bush=style pre-emptive nuke attack" against Iran.

* deep sigh *

When Spud is go to a restaraunt he needs his drivers licence to get there and then hopes the place is licensed fer adult beverages.

It's always good to practise yer sport on yer own before heading off to practice.

Fer years Canadian newpapers used American spellings and then changed back to Canadian leaving the entire country in a spelling conundrum.

Now don't mention "defence" or "centre" or Spud'll hafta pull his remaining few strands of hair out and that'll totally destroy the look he was trying to achieve wif his combover.

Be Well.

The bottom line here is that the Russian simply CAN NOT AFFORD to allow the US to take the Iranian's nationalised oil industry the same way Iraq's was stolen.

They will kill if the US tries it.

They have no choice.

It may be forced to resort to nukes.

Worth considering certainly.

Be Well.

JT: In 2015, Russia launches a nuclear strike against the major cities in the United States (which is the "other side" of the civil war from my perspective), China and Europe.

December 13, 2000 12:44
Q: I think Russia is still very likely to attack the United States with nuclear weapons. It's hard to imagine being here to see it.
JT: You are also correct but I want to add a twist to your thinking. Russia's enemy in the United States is not you, the average person. Russia's enemy is the United States government.

By Peter Fedynsky, Moscow, 27 August 2008
Russian NATO envoy Rogozin says poor relations between Russia and the alliance over Georgia remind him of tensions in Europe on the eve of World War I. He also compares Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili with Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip, who assassinated Austrian Archduke Ferdinand and thus triggered World War I. Rogozin made the statement Tuesday in at least two different forums - in an interview with Russia's RBK business daily and at his Interfax news conference, where he said the stakes today are much greater than merely Russian cooperation with the West.

Pavel Felgenhauer says the implication of Rogozin's statement is the prospect of World War III and a possible nuclear exchange.

Maybe Obama could walk on air and go down and resolve the entire situation with a lot of hot air.

Well the Mooseturd Messiah is an expert on Russia--she can see it from some deserted Alaskan island--so maybe she ought to resolve it.

I think Mcsame surrendering to them and making a lot of confession tapes could help. Made their allies, the chi coms and VC very very happy. Then he could invade some country they don't like and hand them the keys like Bush did for Iran.

If it ever boiled down to a war with Russia, hopefully there would be a Democrat in the WH, so we could win it.

Russia in Syria sounds like a great insurance policy during the 120 remaining days Cheney/Bush are in the WH.
i.e. The WH can't give Israel a green light.

If McClone is elected the Russians would probably have to stay at least four years.

We had the opportunity, under both Reagan AND Clinton to engage that BEAR in normal diplomacy, and failed due to our OWN inaction! Treating them as if they were relevant would have gone a long way in easing the current crisis! We failed in that endeavor, having NEVER tried it as a foreign policy! Now we're pointing fingers at everyone else as a result!

The 'free world' as we know it is at fault, NOT just the United States, now we start finding a resolution to the problem!

Not by closing our eyes, hiding and hoping they'll 'JUST GO AWAY', but by facing the situation, starting effective dialog to include them where we can, and dissuading them from reckless action, where we can't!

Whether we wish it or not, they're part of this world we live in, need to be engaged, reprimanded and praised for both good and bad conduct, kept involved, informed, and therefore relevant to subsequent actions and activities bringing us together, to allow peaceful co-existence in our unique world!

Just like US!

wanna bet this is show down time? Russia is there to basically tell Israel to keep your planes in Israel and out of Iran..

How would Elephant Ears handle the Russians? Maybe he could talk them to death. He could bring his sidekick, The Draft Dodger along to bloviate when he gets tired of running his mouth.

When Palin said that Russia was a country to keep an eye on, she was making an astute observation. Libs said that Russia was not a threat, were they wrong again?

no we never said that dumb fuck.. if bush and your fucktard brethren weren't hell bent on causing cold war deux this wouldn't be an issue..

The republicans and their supporter are about to shit or go blind trying to run america the world..

You guys need to be either sterilized or euthanized.

FWTHOM-
Why would President Obama take George Bush with him anywhere?

BEATLE,

As I'm sure you remember, George W. Bush served his time in the National Guard while Shoemaker Joe Biden somehow misplaced 5 draft notices over a 5 year period and then faked asthma to get a phoney deferment. I wonder what other responsibilities he will avoid as V.P.

There are subjects that come up here that are very important from Russian perspective, Dogen is correct.

I notice people here slamming the Repubs or Demos when the fact is Russians, Putin in particular doesn't care. To you fools that post its a partisan problem and not a national policy issue done over a period of time. Well I suppose you can't be helped.....

If you want a pretty good account of how the Clinton administration, Cheney et al led Yeltsin down the free market path only to screw him, leaving the door open for Putin (KGB, Chechnya), and how important Israel is to the development of the western security operations. May I suggest a book by a Canuck, Naomi Klien - The Shock Doctrine.

Russia is dangerous, due to our past policy failures, Palin maybe shouldn't have said so, but its nice to know someone knows it.

Bush guarded Galveston, went AWOL and let the less fortunate kids fight the war, Palin can see Russia. It's probably wrong to be partial when it comes to such urgent affairs as Russia and Iran, but it's damn hard not to be when someone uses Bush as a shining example.

George W. Bush served his time in the National Guard

Some of his time. Then he deserted.
Maybe Cheney could go-5 deferments toughen anybody up. Of course, caribou barbie, who can see the Kremlin form her kitchen window would offer them some moose stew and her daughter.

If we sent McSame, he'd just kill some sailors, surrender and ship them all our jobs.

Obama could reason with the
Russians like no one has ever seen.

The Russians have never met an intelligent,
articulate African-American like Obama.
They would never know what hit them!

Besides, if the Russians or the Syrians,
or the Iranians wanted to destroy Isreal,
who are we to judge?

"One man's terrorist is another
man's liberator."
(Martin Luther King Jr.)

Give peace a chance - vote Obama.
Vote NO on Afrophobism - vote Obama.

Be Well.

Obama will handle the Russians and it will make "Dr. Strangelove" and "Fail Safe" look like "The Sound of Music".

I bet the lefties are having an orgasm right now .. thinking that israel will be annihilated will be the greatest moment of their lives. They just want jews to be killed, no matter what the cost is.

Audrey-
Did you really just say that? What about the Jews in this country, the majority of whom lean left? Delusional, self-hating?

Though, I suppose I shouldn't take anyone who types and publishes something so unbelievably stupid as this,

this is exactly why I do NOT vote... you guys can take all of the blame for electing the goofballs that made this happen. I was not part of this..

Nice going guys.

seriously.

They just want jews to be killed, no matter what the cost is.

why I don't vote...

~Audacious Bint

First, traditionally the left is home to the more inclusionary set. ie It's the real Big Tent.

The facsicts who stuffed Jews into ovens had more in common with modern Rethugs than modern Dems.

Second, not voting does not lessen yer culpability one whit.

Those who stand and watch and do nothing are guilty alongside those who participate in the evil being done.

Be Well.

GOOD!!! I hope the Russians Start firing nuclear missiles and "BLOW" Tel Aviv,Israel off the face of the map!!! Good Fucking Riddance Assholes!!!

While complete opposites in viewpoints, posts 30 and 31 are without a doubt the two stupidest posts on this thread.

First, traditionally the left is home to the more inclusionary set

lol As long as you agree with them.

In my lifetime, I've met but a small fraction of a percent of all the people in this great country and of those, about third of them have been lefties, a third middle of the road, and a third of them righties, so I can't pretend to know whether what spud says is true or not. (in fact, I wonder how he knows this? He must know several orders of magnitude more people than I do) But if this is a general truism the DR lefites are an extreme exception to the rule. I don't think I've met a single on here who has welcomed and respected what a republican had to say. AAMOF, some are rabid in their vehement exclusion of anything to the right of their own tenets

its not a goodwill tour. watch the cargo.

Let's see, Reagan used Ollie North to sell arms to Iran. Bush got us into an unnecessary war with Iraq. I'd say it's time for a change.

...the talking potato is a brilliant, just brilliant specimen of vegetable intelligence.

~Andreamackris.

The whole book is an indictment of the so-called Free Market system as imagined by Milton Fraudman and his Chicago Boys and the havoc it's caused around the world not only in Russia but in Poland, China, South Africa and especially South and central America. The fact that massive economic "reforms" are put in place only after a place has been "shocked" by a cataclysmic disordering in order to prevent folks from fighting back efffectively.

Spud highly reccomends it.

Nobody is saying that Israel isn't important to Western security and interests in that part of the world (okay, maybe a couple of folks) just that unconditional support of Israel is part of the problem.

Be Well.

/There must and shall be coffee.
//Spud enters blogworld DR as ya do,
stage left.

lol As long as you agree with them.

Sorry, Goatster but yer inability to grasp the history of both parties sets you at a disadvantage here.

Southern Dems broke party ranks to become Rethugs over the issue of minority rights.

The "Southern Strategy" has not gone away.

Rethugs have tried to make gay foks permanent second class citizens by ammending the constitution.

Those two examples alone show how much more inclusionary the left is compared to the right. There's no denying.

To try and argue that the GOPher's "Big Tent" is not predominantly a Big White Rich Tent is to be disingenuous in the extreme.

The problem with the right is that they agree to often and there usually wrong, morally and historically.

The problem with the left is that they argue too much and have a harder time achieving concensus.

...DR lefites are an extreme exception to the rule. I don't think I've met a single on here who has welcomed and respected what a republican had to say. AAMOF, some are rabid in their vehement exclusion of anything to the right of their own tenets.

Ummm, this is kinda a debate site not a tea party.

While there are no doubt some strongly held convictions which are passionately argued by both sides here to try and suggest that the left is the more rabid and vehement side is to ignore huge swaths of reality.

In fact it's downright dumb.

Spud realaises that yer just being yer usual ornery self but seriously Goat, get a grip.

Be Well.

I bet the lefties are having an orgasm right now .. They just want jews to be killed, no matter what the cost is.

And yet most jews are libruls and it was the Right (like Bush's grandfather) who aided and abetted the Nazis in Spain and with the concentration camps.

Again, Reality is no friend of the Right.

...Spud realaises that yer just being yer usual ornery self but seriously Goat, get a grip

LOL

Exactly as I said: The left is "all inclusive" in their big tent as long as you agree with them. Disagree and you are not in their good graces. You could not have underscored my point more elegantly, spud.

Sorry, Goatster but yer inability to grasp the history of both parties sets you at a disadvantage here.

I have to disagree, spud. I have lived here my whole life. I am an avid reader of history, and am old enough to have actually lived part of it. I think that puts me at an advantage, not disadvantage. BC is pretty fucking far from the American south -- both geographically, ideologically, and socially. Don't even try to pretend that you are somehow at an intellectual advantage to us who live here. You too often allow your hubris and huge ego run amok, spud. Rein it in.

The left is "all inclusive" in their big tent as long as you agree with them. Disagree and you are not in their good graces.

Are you retarded today, Goat?

Good graces? Are you fer real?

Apparently disagreeing with someone is an act of exclusion in yer books? Such a sensitive soul you are, Goat.

The left luff to argue and debate even amongst themselves. This is not an act of exclusion but inclusion in the greater dialogue cos if yer gonna be a proper lefty you hafta consider all sides to any question.

The right has a considerably less intellectual approach to achieving consensus.

/Sed Spud being really REALLY polite fer a change.

This is the typical RT mentality. If yer not all goosestepping along in perfect lockstep there is a problem.

Not so.

your hubris and huge ego

Talking to yerself agin?

Be Well.

Spud being really REALLY polite fer a change

It is a change. It's a shame civility is the exception and not the norm with you.

Talking to yerself agin?

Clever

Hey, leave the DudSpud(tm) alone. Afterall, his posts are brilliant, absolutely brilliant....that is, for one that is a vegetable.

Call any vegetable Call it by name
Call one today When you get off the train
Call any vegetable And the chances are good
Aw, The vegetable will respond to you

(Some people don't go for prunes...I
don't know, I've always found that if they...)
Call any vegetable Pick up your phone
Think of a vegetable Lonely at home
Call any vegetable And the chances are good
That a vegetable will *respond* to you

Rutabaga, Rutabaga,
Rutabaga, Rutabaga,
Rutabay-y-y-y...

(A prune isn't really a vegetable...
CABBAGE is a vegetable...)

No one will know
If you don't want to let them know
No one will know
'Less it's you that might tell them so
Call and they'll come to you
Covered with dew
Vegetables dream, Of responding to you

Standing there shiny and proud by your side
Holding your hand while the neighbors decide
Why is a vegetable something to hide

-Frank

Goat-How is Spud wrong about the Southern Dems leaving the Party over Civil Rights? I've lived through some history myself dude-and that's EXACTLY what happened.
the Reich-wingtards are also the ones who want to amend the Constitution to make sure Gays are treated as second class Citizens.

I've got that album at home. "just another band from LA", isn't it? Also has a 20 minute version of Billy the Mountain on one side?
