"Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation." -- John McCain

McCrash is stupider than W!

"McCrash is stupider than W!"

He's gotta excel at something.
But it's the weekend, so don't wake him up and break the news.

Can someone please show the poor bastard a paper once in a while...?

Thanks for the article Doc I needed the chuckle.

On the plus side though if he makes the health care system more like the banking system in about 8 years you'll get the socialized medicine you want just like the socialized banking system the government is working on now.

TAOWARRIOR - So there is an upside!

What is pathetic is that these 9 to 5 middle class fools actually believe that mccain is looking out for their best interests instead of the corporate health care interests.

Fools.

Yeah, Grampy Poopy Pants, your banking 'experiment' has certainly been a rousing success - if what you were going for was the socialization of the banking industry! Now he wants to destroy our healthcare system, too? It ain't perfect the way it is, but at least we don't have to bail it out to the tune of 708 BILLION taxpayer dollars! Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Actually, lack of competition has hurt the health care industry. Not really lack of competition for insurance but medical equipment.

Price insensitivity on behalf of customers, lack of competition, technological complexity -- they all adds up to immense inflationary pressures on health-care costs.

Say anything that the stupid dumbfuck populace will believe...

Dr. Keating, I presume.

You mean after Republican Lobbyists and CEO's have stripped another 600 Billion from the system for their own gain...then come squeeling back to the Guv for a 1 trillion Bailout???

Right?

Tell ya what: Let's just cut to the Socialized Medicine now...we can put that trillion to proper use; Taking Care of the General Welfare of 'We The People'

This fool McCain has no clue about anything.

He wants to individualize health insurance and make everyone pay for health insurance on their own and to force this he wants to away the tax credit for employers who provide health insurance for their employees and instead put the costs on the backs of individuals and their families who can't get group discounts like employers can.

This fool -- who has ALWAYS had his own health insurance covered by the government -- does not have one single clue as to how much that will cost families -- THOUSANDS of dollars more than they would have to pay thru their employer.

McCain is the same idiot who wanted to privatize Social Security and we all see how that would have helped retirees this week if they had put their SS money into Wall Street's hands.

McCain is so out of touch as to what things like health insurance policies cost American families today because he has always had either his wife's millions pay for him or else our government covers his every need.

Want to go broke real fast? Vote McCain.

The cost of healthcare in the US is DOUBLE what it is in Europe, the hellhole of socialized medicine.

Just wait until the Repugnants get thru with it.

One of their "reforms" has been to suggest that the Census stop counting people who don't have health care, thereby magically making the problem go away.

My friends, and I call you my friends because I can't remember your names, or really even care to, but I served as a POW for 5 years. And I never had a lobbyist. Not one. So, my friends, you'll forgive this old POW for having hundreds of them now, and just pretend that this old POW ever said anything at all about deregulation. And remember, I'm not getting any younger, but Obama isn't getting any whiter. Would you rather leave your wives and daughters in my hands, or his? Todd Palin, the halfkimo, has made up his mind. You should too.

You mean after Republican Lobbyists and CEO's have stripped another 600 Billion from the system for their own gain...then come squeeling back to the Guv for a 1 trillion Bailout???

Yeah that sounds about right. Although 8 years from now... better make it 2 trillion. You know, inflation.

Yes, leting McCain do the same thing to health care that he did to Wall Street is a fantastic idea. What are we waiting for?

So McCain, who now poses as the scourge of Wall Street, was praising financial deregulation like 10 seconds ago and promising that if we marketize health care, it will perform as well as the financial industry!

So is Krugman as stupid as the rest of you or are you all in the tank against critical thinking?

Deregulation did not cause the current problems corruption and lack of oversight did.

Why doesn't Krugman point out McCain warned in '05 that fanny and freddy were out of control?

Oh yeah, that would not fit the tit you all are sucking on.

Carry on, oh enlightened progressives.

Deregulation did not cause the current problems corruption and lack of oversight did.

The deregulation made oversight more difficult, and therefore, corruption more likely.

I am very embaressed for him and feel so ssorry that he doesnt know what he's talking about. I am sure some of it is being older and trying to grasp very complex problems. Some of it is definately related to his overall stupidity as he has always been a D- student. If he gets to be president me and my wife will move to Canada to escape his bite.

There is no upside Todd. McCain is an idiot and only a fool would support him or vote for him.

If he gets to be president me and my wife will move to Canada to escape his bite.

If you run into Alec Baldwin, tell him America misses him.

Oh, wait a minute . . .

Petulant children. Honestly

Deregulation did not cause the current problems corruption and lack of oversight did.

Umm I'll give you corruption but isn't lack of oversight just another way to say deregulation.

Just sayin

Imagine a completely hands off healthcare system. Organ transplants would be available to the highest bidder not the ones most in need. The wealthy would go to the head of the line in the ER. If the republicans had their way the poor would be turned away completely.

Things that I will never understand from so-called conservatives...

Socialized Medicine. They say it with venom in their voices. I constantly remind the people I work with that if they worked anywhere else, they would be paying for their own insurance out of their paychecks. Weekly.

Allow me to explain. The owner of the company pays for every employee's insurance. If you have a spouse or children that you want to put on that plan, it comes out of your check. I've never worked anywhere before that paid the full cost of health insurance, dental insurance and vision insurance for their employees. There was always a deduction from the check.

So these so-called conservatives I work with, who think John McCain is the new hope for America just don't realize that, should the owner of the company start thinking more about his back pocket than he does of his employee's well-being, we're all going to be needing some socialized health care.

The wealthy would go to the head of the line in the ER. If the republicans had their way the poor would be turned away completely.

And still be convinced that the liberals are out to get them, take their money and abort their babies.

Fucking stupid motherfuckers.

Read the comment I was responding to.

McCain is a spineless fascist who is run by purely the interest of wealthy aristocrats.

What I don't understand is why blue collared "small-town" America does not see true intentions of the Republican party? Their only motives are to profit off of every industry, without considering to the well being of middle class workers(~95% of America).

When you refer to "blue collared 'small-town America" I can only assume you're speaking of the rabble of unwashed, badly fed, poorly color-coordinated nobodies I fondly call "the herd," or "the rabble," or, in my public role as a woman-of-the-fundamentals McCain spokesperson, "rednecks."

exactly

Next up- Mcsame wants to use the Vegas Model for Healthcare.
As long as he can keep his government health plan, of course.

Yea, and Social Security will be next, eh?

OCU (Friends don't let friends vote Republican)

the republican philosophy: if we ruin america just enough we can kick the libs out of the country.

why do republicans hate americans?

why do republicans hate americans?

I don't know any who do, klifferd, and I'm surrounded by them at work and at home in San Antonio, a very military city.

How many American hating republicans do you know, klifferd?

I know hundreds of republicans and only 1 out of 100 of them could even give a close approximation as to what is happening in this country.

Namely, that we are now the largest socialistic country in the world now. Welcome to France, you republican pussies.

I wonder how many people would be voting for McCain if they realized that he would elminate the exclusion from taxable income we currently have for health benefits.
