I'm thinking the NVA got to McCain more than is known. He fights against searching for and getting information on POWs and MIAs. What possible reason could there be for this action---other than he knows they are there, and McCain is working for the Vietnamese still, to hide what they obviously don't want us to know.

There are reasons documents etc are classified. Sometimes minor reasons yet they are still reasons. It does no one any good to jump to conclusions as to why they are classified. Journalists are always attempting to get classified documents. Look no farther than the New York Times to see what journalists do with sensitive information.

Seems to me that one of the Swift Boaters was talking about this a month or so ago - about how McCain folded under torture (when other captives did NOT) and made speeches for the Hanoi government. McCain himself says this is true. For some reason, this still makes him a hero? He was a POW - something he had absolutely NO control over. He did not deliberately get shot down and once he was a captive, he did what most reasonable people would do under similar circumstances - he did what he could to make his captivity bearable. I don't fault him for that. What I DO fault him for is acting like he was a HERO when he was simply an American soldier doing his job - and apparently not doing it all that well if he got shot down. And now it comes out that he has also done his best (and has done a better of that than he did of flying) to quash any serious attempts to get the remainder of our MIAs and POWs home. THAT needs to be addressed.

Dornan said those transcripts are in war museums in North Vietnam, where McCain, as a senator, pressured the country not to release them or face opposition concerning normalization of relations with the United States.

"McCain could not have wanted those to turn up in the middle of a presidential race," the ex-congressman said. "He knows that. I know that. And a few other people know that. That's why he was against Bob Dole's legislation."

Under the circumstance, as a prisoner, McCain would be serving America proud by providing misinformation and disinformation to the enemies. Now someone with those files will misunderstand, misinterpret, and misuse it against McCain.

If the fucker squealed liie a schoolgirl, broke under pressure, like it was said before, well, I'd forgive THAT. But covering his own pathetic ass at the expense of POW/MIA family's to this day is reprehensible, disgusting. Anyone who can't see that is just plain blind, and imo a genuine traitor, not the pseudo-traitor that the tightie-righties like to hurl aorund from time to time when they run out of other talking points.

As a post Vietnam War Vet (peacetime National Guard- 6 years) I have felt for years that we abandoned our fellow soldiers that were held as POW's. I think this goes all the way back to WW II when the Soviets took prisoners back to Russia. I think we left POW's in Korea as the Soviets and Chinese took Americans back to their countries.

I personally feel that the government was complicit in hiding the fact that many US Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen were left to rot because it was politically embarrassing and Congress would not pay the reparations(ransom) demanded by the Vietnamese. I was in the Guard in the mid-80's and the Vietnam war vets often talked about this and some said they would never surrender as they couldn't trust the government to get them out. There is a reason some branches of the service will leave no one behind as the government cannot be trusted

I think if this became public then the citizens of the US would demand any surviving conspirators of silence should be sent to prison and their legacies ruined. I hope some post Vietnam era President will order an investigation and expose the truth
