Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Friday, September 19, 2008

Nebraska Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel said Sarah Palin, lacks foreign policy experience and called it a "stretch" to say she's qualified to be president. "I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

Chuck Hagel is the real Straight Talk Express.

If he was the GOP nominee it wouldn't even be close.

Of course, Cheney would have to be dethroned first for that to ever happen.

Hagel the selfish....

The disgruntled turncoat... made the wrong moves and getting worse. Now Hagel is a political football kicked by both dems and reps to score a goal.

Hagel's prospect for a cabinet post in the Obama admin seem to be dissipating and now he must destroy Sarah Palin to advance his own career.

"'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia,'" he said. "That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

Correction: It should be insulting to the American people. But you can't insult the intelligence of the willfully stupid.

Too funny. From palins home to russia is like looking at the pacific ocean from Salt lake city.

Hagel is one of very few Republicans left who gets close to the truth and isn't scared to say what he thinks.

By bringing Palin, McCain may have built some political capital among Catholic voters who are considered SWING.

******************************
**********

The 'I can see Russia'.... was meant to be a funny line and not meant to be a resume for foreign policy credential (and yes you can see Russia from Alaska ) --- and yet the dems have turned it into a tool against Palin. But this is political season and everything is open season for twisting. The reps do it to dems too.

Amen to that!

Hagel should have been picked to be McCain's #2. It would have grabed the thinking man's and thinking woman's attention. Now all McSame has to offer is a clinically depressed outlook on the world and a snarly, secretive, showboating sidekick who is an insult to the intelligence of the average voter.

" (and yes you can see Russia from Alaska) "

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The penalty for lying is 30 lashes or keelhauling. Your choice.

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Hagel is our Lieberman, I always liked Hagel and Biden, believe it or not Biden reminds me of My dad, A good man, with a slight UN-PC speech pattern, his politics just suck. I always thought Hagel was a more cerebral farm boy. But he just needs to take the dems example and if you're a republican. Just support your party. I don't think Sarah is that qualified either. But look at the mess the "qualified , over educated morons have left us. Is 'Experience REALLY that necessary

Make that "...would have grabbed the thinking ..."; trying to get back to work and typed too fast.

Btw -- Silver ironist -- good points all. IMHO, Cheney's people were deeply involved in the Sarah teh incompetent selection and they are coaching her all the way. If I were McSame, I'd be very, very afraid ... Cheney's behind the scenes power is frightening, and Cheney's greed for more wealth from ANWR and oil and gas is palpable. No wonder Cheney's buddies like Limbaugh and Kristol lobbied McSame to select her... There's a lot to Cheney's advantage in Palin's rise in prominence.

obama's credentials are he was a comunity organizer. He has never had a real job in his entire life. He has never had a job where he alone had to make decisions. He can't even see most of the US from his house but he is an expert on that.

Who is inexperienced?

Keep talkin' Chuck! Keep playing the centrist! (really a LibDem). Hope that truck runs you over soon!

It's tough being a person with a mind, that suddenly finds himself a member of a party that doesn't seem to want or need a mind.

"But look at the mess the "qualified , over educated morons have left us."

Seriously? Bush is over-educated?

Being at school and learning something are sometimes two different things.

The 'I can see Russia'.... was meant to be a funny line and not meant to be a resume for foreign policy credential (and yes you can see Russia from Alaska ) --- and yet the dems have turned it into a tool against Palin

Bullshit. McSame used it, Pat Buchanan used it and Newt Gingrich used it. 60% of the voters realize she's not qualified. Suck it up, she was chosen to placate the talibaptists like Dobson and because McSame has nothing else new to offer.

And obama has anymore experience? Get real.

Screechy voiced fundamentalist whipped ExxonMobil into line. So they're promoting her out of there.

As a community organizer, Obama had to start from the ground up. He was a 2-term Illinois State Senator, spent 2 years in the US Senate, has proven himself intelligent and charismatic, winning the support of both Republicans and Democrats. Uhh, yeah, I think Mr. Obama's experienced.

What about that crazy lady from Alaska?

Attack Obama for being inexperienced before, but now that Palin's the veep nominee, experience doesn't matter. Hmm. Smells like waffles.

I wanted Obama to pick Hagel as his VP. Biden's a good choice, but Hagel would have been an awesome choice. Now I'm holding out for Sec of Defense.

Hegel was my choice as Obama's VP. That's change I can believe in.

Uhhhh dummy, it was the libs that said experience doesn't matter. In fact, it was said that it was good to have a new and fresh perspective and a Washington Outsider. Do you actually remember the Primaries? You know, Clinton vs Obama? You know, the Hillary Dems claiming Obama lacked experience and the Obama jockstraps claiming it was insignificant?

It all changed when Obama's campaign and surrogates claimed that all of that was a negative in regards to Palin.

You.

everytime I read about hagel I laugh because its funny
its funny because of the comments I remember reading here from this sanctuary of "DIVERSITY OF THOUGHT" known as a liberal site when the name LIEBERMAN is brought up.....

more typical liberal hypocritical jibberish

I dont recall hagel being taken off a committee because of his views on issues counter to the RNC

Uhhhh dummy, it was the libs that said experience doesn't matter...

Posted by 101Chairborn

Nope. Libs said what was true, Obama does have the experience to be president. That he doesn't was a lie used by HRC and then McCain.... until the moment he picked Palin. Then McCain lied about Palin's experience while his supporters tried the laughable argument that Palin has more experience to be president than Obama.

I see by your response, you see the truth in my post. Obama is lying about his associations, He is lying about his "advisors" involvement in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Which by the way have had the nickname for years "Where democrats go to get rich". He is lying baout how he actually feels about white working class, His Wife is defiently Lying. Obama in 4 short years took more money than other senators in 20 years from FAnnie Mae and Freddie Mac, he Basically was given a 1.4 million dollar home from a corrupt mafiaosa, Resnik and is a typical Liberal elite who thinks because he went to an Ivy league scchool , the rest of us Rubes have to do what he says, because us drooling, illiterate, mindless "bigots' Can't take care of ourselves.

He is going to lose if the Leftie press ever truly reports about his past.

I hope he does just so i can see you weak-minded libs go into a frenzy and hopefully most of you will suck on the business end of a .357 magnum

"Palin killed Wasilla's Lake Lucille: www.salon.com

Great going Piranah Barracuda! taking care of your own back yard just as if it really doesn't matter!

Well if you don't do that, you will do all that "I am moving to Canada' crap or "the election was stolen" whining" and I don't want to hear it, If Snobama wins, I just go on working hard, supporting my country and hoping he doesn't screw things up too bad. But if you did blow your brains out, I certainly wouldn't cry for you. Libs always take the cowards way out

From the article:

... the lake Sarah Palin lives on is dead.

... "Sarah's legacy as mayor was big-box stores and runaway growth. The truth is, Wasilla is just plain ugly, it's not a pleasant place to live. It's not thought out. And that's a shame.

"Sarah fouled her own nest, and I can't understand why. I hate to think it was simply greed or ambition."

Among the environmental casualties of Wasilla's frenzied development was Palin's own front yard, Lake Lucille.

... Wasilla, where Palin grew up and still resides, sprawls between two lakes -- Lucille and Wasilla Lake. Cottonwood Creek, which flows in and out of Wasilla Lake, has also been labeled "impaired" by state environmental officials, after foam was detected on the water surface and subsequent testing found excessive concentrations of fecal coliform bacteria.

The two lakes are the town jewels, the only eye relief along a harrowing corridor of strip malls, big-box stores and fast-food drive-throughs that is Wasilla. "Lord, help me get through Wasilla," reads one Alaska bumper sticker.

The population in Mat-Su Valley began booming in the 1970s with the Alaska oil pipeline and the influx of oil workers from Texas and Oklahoma. But while some valley towns tried to control growth -- like nearby Palmer, which was originally settled by Midwest farmers as part of a Roosevelt social experiment in the 1930s -- Wasilla took a frontier, boom-town approach. Soon the Parks Highway, which cuts straight through Wasilla, and its arteries were lined with a chaotic bazaar of quickie espresso shacks, moose-stuffing taxidermists, Bible churches, gun stores, tattoo and piercing parlors, mattress barns and the inevitable box stores with their football-field parking lots.

John Stein, Palin's predecessor as Wasilla mayor, tried gamely to get a handle on the commercial free-for-all. He made an effort to restore the health of Lake Lucille, which, he said, "was turning into a bog."

"We brought up a scientist to study both lakes," Stein recalled. "We also worked with the state to filter storm drainage from the highway."

Controlling runoff from the six-lane highway is a key to saving the lakes in Wasilla. Other cities have their industrial pollution problems; Wasilla has highway pollution. "Anything that comes off an automobile -- oil, antifreeze, de-icing agents, heavy metals -- all of that can run off into the lakes when it rains," observed Archie Giddings, Wasilla's public works director.

... "Sarah was so eager for big-box stores to move in that she allowed Fred Meyer to build right on Wasilla Lake, and her handpicked successor, Dianne Keller, has done the same with Target."

... "Sarah was such a great cheerleader for Wasilla, but she did nothing to protect its beauty. She'd go to these Chamber of Commerce meetings and say, 'Wasilla is the most beautiful place in the world!' And we'd just sit there gagging."

A city official in nearby Palmer, who has lived in the Mat-Su Valley his whole life, sadly admitted: "Sarah sent the growth into overdrive. And now they're choking on traffic and sprawl, all built on their ignorance and greed.

"Palin's hometown legacy left trail of legal bills"

"If Snobama wins, I just go on working hard, supporting my country and hoping he doesn't screw things up too bad."

Realistically, what could he do that would produce worse results than what Bush's policies have brought us? He can't possibly spend more than Bush so all those entitlement programs he loves are just pipe dreams (and still a better uses of our money than the Iraq War). He's not going to start wars over imaginary threats. What could he realistically get away with that would be worse than the last eight years?

If eight years ago someone told you all the shit that Bush would fuck up, you'd say there is no way such a president could last one term, let alone two. If you put a foreign spy in the office of POTUS with the goal of fucking over Americans, he wouldn't have dared to even try to screw us over as bad as Bush has for fear of being exposed as a traitor.

I can't picture McCain being nearly as bad either unless he croaks or goes senile.

Suuuuure..."Country First" for all those Repubs.

Let's not forget Palin's love of torturing wildlife in Alaska. She is a strong proponent of the aerial hunting of wolves and other endangered species. She wants to offer (or IS offering - I'm not clear on that) a bounty for the foreleg of every wolf killed. Defenders of Wildlife is currently running ads in Ohio and Florida, with plans to expand the ad into Michigan, that shows an aerial wolf hunt. These are not clean kills and there is no way this could be considered sport. It is torture and slaughter. The animal is often shot numerous times before it dies, causing exteme agony. The hunts take place in the winter when the wolf is easily visible.

Palin seems to love destroying the beauty that is Alaska. She lives on the banks of a dead lake that she is responsible for killing due to her legacy of uncontrolled growth in Wasilla. Wasilla itself was turned into a mecca for big box stores and strip malls. When she became mayor of Wasilla the town had zero debt. When she left, she left behind 22 million dollars of debt despite asking for 24 million dollars in federal pork barrel aid. She built a sports arena on land that was still owned by someone else and the town is still footing the legal bills for that fight, which is ongoing at this time. She attempted to ban books in the Wasilla library and tried to have the librarian fired when the woman refused to cooperate. As governor, she exercised a line-item veto which significantly cut the budgets of homes for unwed mothers in Alaska. These facilities not only provide shelter for unwed expectant teens and women in need, but also give them 18 months of shelter and job training once the baby is born. Luckily, Palin's daughter is not in need of this service and apparently Palin feels no compunction to aid other peoples' children who DO need a service like this. Palin speaks out on the need for expanded services for children with special needs but cut the funding for the Special Olympics in Alaska. Palin received her first passport last year. She was caught lying about visiting Iraq - McBush's team finally admitted she did not cross the Kuwait border into Iraq ever. She also fudged the truth about visiting Ireland - her plane stopped in Ireland to refuel and she never left the plane during that refueling stop. She has absolutely NO foreign policy experience, had no idea what the Bush Doctrine meant or was all about and has no business being in the running for vice president of the United States. Her selection was a purely political, cynical attempt to garner the vote of a certain segment of the population. Oh - and she thinks because some witch-hunting preacher laid hands on her and prayed over her, she is now destined to become president of the United States. Yesterday, during a speech, she referred to the "Palin-McCain administration". And I don't think that was even a Freudian slip. By what possible stretch of the imagination could this woman seriously be thought to be qualified to hold the second highest office of the land????

Obama is lying about his associations, He is lying about his "advisors" involvement in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

#35 | Posted by HillBillyJihad

Gee, HBJ, I hope the McCrash campaign does try to bring out any associations that Obama had with Fannie and Freddie execs. That will just give a chance to revisit the Keating 5

I don't think anyone is thinking about the Keating 5 right now, So I say "bring it on"

I have noticed Obama's dethly silence since McCain mentioned this morning, Obama's involvement and how much money he took and his democrat buddies took while running Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae into the ground

Mcsame has decades of Washington experience. Unfortunately, he has spent his entire campaign admitting he never did anything right in those decades.

"I can't fuck up any worse than I already have" is hardly a great campaign slogan.

Obama is being pressured by his folks to get tough.... and he has some lies of his own: but they will not be pointed out by the biased and hysterical ladies of THE VIEW.

And the biased liberal media will try to hide them..... while continuing to hunt down Palin.

Good thing she got a breather on Fox to correct and sanitize the biases thrown at her by the hostile liberal media.

This is nothing new from the rightards.

Don't pretend like you haven't been calling him this all along.

You're actually going to sit there and pretend that this is new? That he's being called this because of what the left has said about Sara Palin?

I've heard all of this (much of it from you) for almost a year now.

Keep pretending it's new though. It's working so well for the McCain campaign....heh heh.

She may not be qualified to be vice president. That would mean that Obama is absolutely not qualified to be the Head Man in Charge

Palin hunts for FOOD, you know that which you work to provide for your family! The wolf population, in Alaska is out of control and must be managed, it is State policy (before Palin, also).

Hagel has proven time and time again to be nothing more than a marginal played at best, a slow learner at worst! Is still bitter about the treatment us Vietnam soldiers got at your hands, after doing our jobs for you and yours! Giving you the inalienable right and freedom to BITCH and moan as you are wont to do soooo often! So go at it!

Go ahead blame her for everything and then start crying over what you've asked for, when it's not exactly what you expected! But then again, you're used to that by now, aren't you!

Try, oh try, to pay close attention to what each candidate is saying about this financial crisis, if it's posssible and not overly difficult! It should tell you ALL you will ever need to know about them!

This is a crisis, this President did NOT cause, regardless of how you want to spin it! It will show, the ones who actually DO care, how each candidate would handle crisis, cooly and calmly (as I would want my boss to be), or haphazardly, looking for fault and blame without resolving the situation!

I see from either candidate, not much to allow me a choice between these two in handling this, or by default of judgement, any other challenging situation like this efffectively and efficiently! (The mark of a good leader, like Lincoln, FDR, JFK, Nixon - before Watergate, Reagan, Clinton - for welfare reform and budget control, and GWB - for having THIS financial team available to resolve this problem caused by decades of mismanagement, and seeing the problems coming!

Most here will disagree with me, however, if you think about it, after initial flaws in applicable laws, this President has proven himself adaptable! Look at Katrina and at the latest hurricanes, aid was dramatically improved, even when the problems overlapped!

Think what you will, and I figure you will think the worst, cause that's what gets your man elected, or mine! Hold a grudge or hold that thought, things were handled MUCH differently then as now, that IS true and without doubt! Blame him, give him credit!

He is not the worst President, that distinction goes to Carter, Flusher Filmore, Grant, maybe Johnson (Lyndon or Andrew), and the Tammany Hall crowd!

Dogen-Bush is the worst-combine multiple record deficits, a crumbling economy, two lost wars and dozing through the 50 9-11 warnings and it spells F*A*I*L*U*R*E.

You're right about Bush not being totally responsible for the collapse. Mcsame and Gramm and the Republican Party going back to Traitor Reagan all helped out. Their Contract on America just delivered.

Let's not forget Palin's love of torturing wildlife in Alaska. She is a strong proponent of the aerial hunting of wolves and other endangered species.

Surprise....... Wolves are not endangered in Alaska or Canada. They only made the list in MT, WY, and ID. The dam things are breeding like rats in the Yellowstone area.

Aerial hunting has been ILLEGAL in the United States, per FEDERAL LAW, for years. Alaska conveniently ignores FEDERAL law. Palin ignores FEDERAL law. But hey - McBush was a POW so it's alright.

As for 'the damn things breeding like rats in Yellowstone' - a Federal judge stopped the slaughter of the wolves in Yellowstone and this week Shrub pulled back and placed the Yellowstone wolves BACK on the endangered species list because a stable, genetically diverse population HAS NOT YET BEEN ESTABLISHED in Yellowstone. Apparently, they are not breeding as quickly as rats. Is Shrub's face red? Naw - he was wrong about the Yellowstone wolves just like he has been wrong about every thing he has done since he took office. Frankly, I don't know why ANYONE would want to be President next time around. Trying to clean up after Shrub is going to take generations, not years.

****** She may not be qualified to be vice president. That would mean that Obama is absolutely not qualified to be the Head Man in Charge.....Posted by bph320 *******

....not so.....Palin & McCain put together are still not half as smart as Barack.......

"Most here will disagree with me (that) this President has proven himself adaptable!"

Dogie, ya got one right. The first six words, anyway. Bush "adaptable"? Let me savor that one a while. I'd award it a ribbon of some kind, if I had a ribbon left to award. herm

"Let me savor that one a while."

Don't forget your $3,333.33 worth of seasoning, sucker.

Chuck Hagel has the nerve to judge anyone else's abilities. THAT is a laugh. But what would you expect from a RINO?

And the biased liberal media will try to hide them..... while continuing to hunt down Palin.

Good thing she got a breather on Fox to correct and sanitize the biases thrown at her by the hostile liberal media.

ok, which librul media is hunting her down right now??? OR..... Lets see.... KKKarl Rove is hammering her ass right now and that is hitting the air. he's accused her of everything from being nothing but hype to out and out lying...

Now, I don't know about you takeitgreasy, but when I hear Karl Rove say you crossed the line on a-tellin' the truth - you got my attention.

That's like the Devil telling Hitler he crossed the line...

Could it be - respected Republicans that want change are pissed that McCain took this Sara Palin as a stunt to garner left over hillary voters??????

So far I havent seen a witch hunt and the Major outlets were really playing her up without cause right after the RNC...

Sounds like you should lay off of the Oriley, Hannity, Rush and the like.

The liberal media keep highlighting Palin's peccadilos and they keep falling off like water on duck's back --- because the fairminded Americans discovered they could not rely on the liberal media anymore when it comes to truth and fairness. A high school student could easily detect the shameful bias of the liberal media. No wonder the liberal media is desperate to announce that the Palin effect is wearing off, when in fact it is holding steady --- the crowds love her.

CNN. MSNBC. TIME. Newsweek. Huffington Post. NYT. Ah... too many.... and those bitter comedians: Maher, Stewart, Letterman .....

Oh boy, Sarah Palin has single-handed exposed how ugly the left can get.....

In a thread titled:

Hagel: 'Stretch' to Call Palin Qualified

Still we find

Oh boy, Sarah Palin has single-handed exposed how ugly the left can get.....

I guess Chuck is a Lefty.....
