Sounds like one of those "frivolous lawsuits" that McCain is already talking about.

Palin needs to stop wasting tax payers time and money and just go talk to the investigator, she's going to have to eventually anyway. Stalling just makes her look more like Dick Cheney.

For a reformer, she sure plays the game like a pro.

Or is that sexist?

Nixon didn't get very far with stopping Watergate, either. herm

Understand?

This from the party of "change"? Nahhh.

I don't understand the Republican strategy here. They're keeping the story alive with all of the stuff they are doing to fight it. Ultimately, the drip-drip-drip of this coverage is likely to damage Palin's reputation more than the investigation's result.

If her last name was Clinton, they'd be in full attack mode.

Well, if she didn't do anything wrong she shouldn't have anything to worry about, right GOPers?

Palin was for cooperating before she was against it. Okay, so it's really the McCain campaign that's against it. McCain's boy Callahan was flown to Alaska to advise Caribou Barbie's attorney.

Waaaaa! It's all partisan...sexism...yeah. 14-0, five Republicans...partisan attack.

Rcade,

The plausible explanation of why they want to keep the story alive rather than let the chips fall where they may is that they believe the truth of her actions are more damning than the negative press they will get by blocking the investigation.

I don't understand the Republican strategy here. They're keeping the story alive with all of the stuff they are doing to fight it. Ultimately, the drip-drip-drip of this coverage is likely to damage Palin's reputation more than the investigation's result.

The only reason I can think of is that she used her power for personal reasons/retribution/gain far more often than this one incident and they're hoping that, if they can make this seem enough like a witch-hunt, people will stop paying attention.

Our legal system is fraught with delays, for the rich and well connected, anything can drag on for 20 years. All it takes is millions of dollars to feed the machine.

Unless the Oligarchy wants to install Shrub, then expediency is the order of the day.

From CNN: "Obama backers politicizing Alaska investigation"

"Former Palin Press Secretary Meg Stapleton told reporters in Anchorage that the investigation has been "hijacked" by "Obama operatives" for the Democratic presidential nominee -- namely, Alaska state Sen. Hollis French, the Democratic lawmaker managing the investigation and an Obama supporter."

"McCain campaign spokesman Ed O'Callaghan said Palin will not cooperate with "that investigation so long as it remained tainted and run by partisan individuals who have a predetermined conclusion," referring to a comment by French earlier this month that the case could produce criminal charges or an "October Surprise" for the GOP ticket."

Come on Republican, believe us Democrats that we will give you an impartial investigation. Now that is change, huh?

Come on Republican, believe us Democrats that we will give you an impartial investigation. Now that is change, huh?

The decisive vote in the committee's 3 to 2 decision was cast by Charlie Huggins, a Republican state senator from the Palins' home town of Wasilla. He explained his vote by saying: "I say let's just get the facts on the table; the sooner the better."

After McCain named Palin to the GOP national ticket, her supporters urged lawmakers to turn the Wooten matter over to the three-member State Personnel Board, which is appointed by the governor and charged with handling ethics complaints.

Yeah, turn the matter over to a Governor appointed committee instead, don't worry they won't drag their feet until after the election and everything will be above board.

Now there is change that you can believe[sarcasm flag].

KBM: The invesygation was ongoing before saint sarah walked across the golden bridge to somewhere-supported unanimously by a bipartisan coimmittee.

Suddenly, with the WH in sight, its those nasty sexist democrats who want to make her look less than saintly?
Gimme a break. This woman was an ally of Ted Stevens with a track record of cronyism until she was annointed by Lord John.

Palin should indeed cooperate with any investigation, stalling creates the appearance of guilt. The story has little or no substance and is intended to tarnish her reputation cooperate fully and get it over with would be the best course. Meanwhile in other news Biden is not in the news, Anywhere he seems to be the invisible V.P. I wish he would come back and trash himself again that was hilarious because he was right Obama should have selected Hillary as V.P

I guess they know she's guilty.

That's the clue, guys. There is something there for sure or the repulsicans would allow the game to play out. You know, this whole thing was brought about by a bi-partisan group of lawmakers in Alaska and the majority of them were repulsicans! Same old, same old from Washington. Done something that is a no-no? COVER IT UP QUICK!

Rogers doesn't love me anymore. This is twice this week he has gone out with someone else when I asked him first. I don't know how long he expects me to keep pretending he cares!

What KBM fails to understand is that it is not the Dems that are investigating her, but rather an independent investigator hired because of a 12-0 vote of a bipartisan committee of the legislature.

Jesus Christ Corky, get a life.

Are you really THAT starved for attention?

Whore!

Wow, I didn't even need another reason to dislike Palin, but they just keep getting thrown out there! Awesome!

I believe that the reason for this turning into a fiasco is because Obama supporter French said it could produce an "October Surprise" for the Republicans. Had that not been said the investigation would have continued without any problems. Make no mistake that Palin was correct in the firing based on the evidence. They are looking between the lines for an inner reason. So in a way it is a witch hunt with a no win situation for anyone regardless of the outcome.

Fuck off, Manypussies.

It was a joke, son.

Wow, I didn't even need another reason to dislike Palin, but they just keep getting thrown out there! Awesome!

I am honestly looking for ONE REASON to LIKE her.

I have not heard one remote reason. Nobody has offered up a single one. I can only wonder why not.

Then you need to work on your presentation. It looks like a desperate grasp for attention to most people.

Here's a fucking joke:

Why did so many Jews die at Auschwitz?

The train ride was free!

I think from the above exchange, an objective observer might conclude that you are the only real joke involved.

"They are looking between the lines for an inner reason."

Probably why the bipartisan committee voted unanimously for the investigation.

Manypaths,
I think Corky's wet start caused your knee-jerk missile to release.

Badaophay -- you sir/madame are an idiot. Facts and truth don't support you. Only your clinging idiocy does. Good day to you and your ruination of a nation through slime.

I took it as a joke Zilla......

KBM...re: Poist #24, just wondering what evidence you are referring to with your comment. I always here friends who consider themselves to be Republicans say in regards to wiretapping, et. al. If you don't have anything to hide what are you worried about.

If Palin has nothing to hide then why fight it. This commission is bi-partisan and she even said she would cooperate until now. Palin is nothing more than a politician just like the rest.

I don't understand the Republican strategy here. They're keeping the story alive with all of the stuff they are doing to fight it.

Really? I think the only ones who know or care that the investigation is going on are news junkies, like those around here. Most of the country has no idea, does not care, or chooses too willfully ignore it. You could only get Palin supporters around DR to change their vote if you had compelling evidence that Sarah has been eating fetuses.

If her last name were Clinton, the media would not be printing this story at all. If her last name were Clinton, and the story broke anyway, they would call it dirty tricks and not cooperate in the least. Would you cooperate with an investigation being driven by politos with nothing but an agenda to prove. Let's face it, before November there will be something come out about this story in an effort to damage Palin, and short of actually being able to find and prove anything, something will be manufactured by the DEMAFRAUDS.

This commission is bi-partisan and she even said she would cooperate until now

It was bi-partisan in name and practice until "hijacked by the Obama camp". This is as bi-partisan as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

And the righties foaming at the mouth over stills of Palin would have you believe Obama's on the decline and McSame/Failin's numbers are skyrocketing.

Polls today show the race is even again.

McCain fucked up in a bad way by picking Palin in the first place. Just like Bush, he's too stubborn to admit he screwed up. Now he's gotta ride the horse until it's dead.

Exactly how has it been hi-jacked by the Obama camp?

You are just buying into her bullshit.

Tell me exactly how the Obama camp is playing a role in this or admit that you're an idiot.

One or the other Skippy.....

"You could only get Palin supporters around DR to change their vote if you had compelling evidence that Sarah has been eating fetuses."

Actually, fetuses with mustard and ketchup are a favorite entree in Wasilla's No. One McRestaurant. Along that line, and I hate to sound bizarre, but what's happening with Palin's brain-damaged infant while its mama is working the campaign trail? herm

It was bi-partisan in name and practice until "hijacked by the Obama camp". This is as bi-partisan as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

yes you moron we understand perfectly the question is do you?

DDENTON "even race" wasn't the empty suit scumbama significantly ahead after the DEM hollywood production? Even the "change" mantra has gone sour on scumbama and bribem. WHY? Because it was never more than a fantasy and you could not believe a word said by scumbama since the primaries started.

obama is very very qualified
obama is kind and honest in the jesus mode

very very qualified to be a community agitator
he may be kind but his own contradictions prove he is the "same old washington" politics and hardly honest.

Hey Skippy,

Tell me exactly how the Obama camp is playing a role in this or admit that you're an idiot.

You appear to be leaning heavily towards Idiot!

Absolutely unbelievable. She represents herself as an agent of change, and now she's stonewalling an investigation into something she says she's innocent of?

There's been about one scandal every two days since she got the nod. When is McCain going to get wise?

Um, never mind...

Name on piece of significant legislation that was not purely politically motivated by Pelosi and Reid that the Repubs stonewalled and I will tell you why? Why don't you tell me why the Dingbat of the House of Reps went on vacation instead of bringing a drilling bill to the floor. Why don't you tell me why she put naming 2 post offices as on the agenda when first coming back and nothing about energy. Why don't you tell me why they are proposing a piece of crap that penalizes energy companies punatively. The Repub filibuster at every turn is anothe PURE LIE that continues to be passed around by uninformed dolts like you DDENTON

"There's been about one scandal every two days since she got the nod."

Yes. "Scandals" like a pregnant 17 year old daughter, and the purchase of a tanning bed. In that case, thousands of Americans are going through the same "scandals" Palin is.

Stone - easy there. If the last name was Clinton the press would be all over it.

Marty - one scandal after another? what "scandal" has proven factual? The lawyers from the Obama Alaska Invasion will make stuff up if they cannot find anything real. First the baby was her daughter's and not hers. FALSE. Then the crap about the bridge to nowhere accusations that she supported it. Yes but she later opposed it (Kinda like all the DEMS in Iraq - remember all that crap). Anything you DEMAFRAUDS find will not come close by comparison to scumbama's associations with terrorists, racists and convicted felons. Attacks on Palin by the likes of you will continue to backfire.

Abusing the power of your position certainly is not an honest thing to do and not what I want in my POTUS or VPOTUS. Saying you will cooperate and then going back on your word isn't quite what I consider honorable. As the righty tighties always say regarding wiretapping. If you don't have anything to hide what are you worried about. Hypocrits!

IMO, when you are up there spouting the virtues of abstinence and railing against skin cancer then both of those are hyopcritical, but scandals, NO.

Stone - links or sources to your claims please when you claim facts or put an IMO before your statement.

Stone - easy there. If the last name was Clinton the press would be all over it.

you are right, they would be all over it now since scumbama has been annointed. However, pre-scumbama it would never be on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, yada yada yada. Do you really think someone as objectionable (oops meant objective) as Olberman, Blitzer, Cooper et al would even mention it? REALLY

HAHAHAHAHA Lehman Bros was the investment firm for Al Snore's carbon credit scam. So all you Al Gore koolaid drinkers, your carbon credits may have gone belly up. GOTTA LOVE IT. Just one question? How would something made of thin air go belly up?

No links.

Nothing to back it up.

You are officially crowned an Idiot Stone.

You had your chance........

stone - your gibberish doesn't really make sense. The media always hounds the Clintons. During the run up the convention there were stories about Hillary and Bill everyday. Really, come down take some valium something. McCain picked Palin, who energized the base, but is an unknown. Therefore information is bound to come out, some positive and some negative. That's how it works.

MDLOFTROAD Is that anything like saying you will take public funding for your campaign and then back out once those Hollyweed dollars start rolling in from people that live in fantasy lands?
Guess not hypocrit

stone - your gibberish doesn't really make sense.

Enough said.....

Yes, siree Stone that was extremely hypoctrical. Thanks for pointing out the obvious. How am I a hypocrit, I didn't give my word and back out from it Obama did. Please place blame on the right person and I acknowledged you are correct.

Exactly MDLOFTROAD. I said PRE-SCUMBAMA. Prior to them annointing Obama as the saviour, the Clintons could kill almost any story. And quite frankly, if the media had vetted the annointed one prior to super Tuesday, we would be looking at a Clinton nomination instead of this empty suit. Want to talke about unknowns? How much is known about Barrack Hussein Obama after all this time, other than he can be an act in the middle of rock concerts.

MDLOFTROAD - you are a hypocrit for pointing out an issue about one candidate and ignoring the same behavior from the other. Obama is an empty suit.

Really manpaths? How many people back their opinions and anti-Palin vitreol with references. CRAP. You are a hypocrit too.

I will find the reference for the Lehman Bros thing. Just heard that on radio and I am certain it will prove to be true.

"mustard and ketchup"

I prefer them rare in a caper sauce.

Stone - I'm trying to understand how I point out a couple of areas that one candidate is being hypocritical in response to Joe's post about scandals. Somehow you think I am supposed to then list every area that each candidate is hypocritical. Again, the gibberish doesn't make sense, but I agreed with you that Obama is hypocritical for that decision (and I'm sure you have a long list of others that I may have overlooked).

BTW - had Clinton run a better campaign she'd be running for POTUS but she didn't. Christ, get over it.

And really...names lik scumabama really lower the credibility rating. When making a solid point or argument name calling doesn't usually climb the list.

Calling Nancy Pelosi a pig
is an INSULT TO THE PIG!!

MDLFTROAD agree with the namecalling. 1st day have done that but I am really tired of the slanderous namecalling of McCain & Palin. You are correct. I momentarily stooped to the level of the socialist here.

BTW google search for "Lehman Bros Carbon Credits" came up with 149 articles. Looked at a few and there is mention of Lehman Bros carbon profile. Don't have time though to look anymore and don't know name of Gore's scam. Radio linked them. that is the reference I heard

Is that anything like saying you will take public funding for your campaign and then back out once those Hollyweed dollars start rolling in from people that live in fantasy lands?
Guess not hypocrit

'Zionist Muslim'?

Do you even know what the hell it is you're saying anymore or do you just string words together that you hear at the Klan meeting?

What next? 'Christian Satanist'?

Mcsame's dropped 12 points (gallup)in a week as the novelty of saint sarah has worn off and he thinks a cover-up will help him?

The good news was Sarah Palin really had taken on the oil companies, with a windfall profits tax, cancellation of unused leases, and by moving ahead with a major gas pipeline that the oil companies would rather not see built.

Palin had become a bad Republican, an out of control governor, out Chavezing Hugo Chavez. With bonus checks for Alaskan fuel bills, Sarah Palin had the moxie to capitalize on the universal Alaska hatred for Exxon, festering since the spill in 1989.

If you were the most powerful multinational corporation on the planet, what would you do? How would you get rid of Sarah Palin and the fledgling independence movement against Big Oil she had sparked?

Big Oils solution? You Peter Principle Palin out of Juneau.

In the oil business, you know how to deal with your colonies. Simply put, you pit Alaskan against Alaskan with a Palin nomination to higher office.
Even easier than working with floundering national Republicans was working with a desperate John McCain, whose survival instincts are those of a sewer rat.

But of course, it gets worse. The National Campaigns discover and define Alaska for America. Sarah Palin is transformed by the Dems and their allies into a monster by people who dont know her.
The fight over values,-- conceals entirely Exxons agenda.

But not to worry, the worst of times will only get worse. With a deepening national depression and word spreading of free money and a moose in every freezer, thanks to the nomination, thousands of Alaskan wannabes will hit the Al-Can for Alaska, an RV Grapes of Wrath. Alaskas population will double and then triple. Palin will either be in DC in a one-term Vice Presidency or back as a lame duck Guv, abandoned by her Party and despised by the Dems who worked with her.

Alaskas Senator Ted Stevens is the lucky one, ready to take his sacrifice fly for Ben Stevens and Treavor McCabe, his office or his lumps and get his Presidential pardon. That wiley old fox must marvel at Exxons master counter-strategy for Alaska. The same Exxon who convinced America that the oil spill had been cleaned up and everyone was paid off found a way to stop Sarah Palin, her mini-revolt and its ripple effect, by giving her exactly what she wanted.

Excerpted from Steve Conn @ Counterpunch

Mcsame's dropped 12 points (gallup)in a week as the novelty of saint sarah has worn off and he thinks a cover-up will help him?

It just doesn't hurt him as much as having the truth come out.

SF...Depends on your definition of " purely politically motivated", most legislation is politically motivated to some extent...

Employee Free Choice Act
H.R. 800
The bill was passed by the House of Representatives by a wide margin, but did not survive
Republican opposition in the Senate. A majority vote was achieved, but not the 60-vote
supermajority needed for cloture against a filibuster

Part D Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act
H.R. 4/S. 3
The bill passed the House by a wide margin. However, it was unable to overcome Republican
opposition in the Senate. While the bill received a simple majority of votes, 60 votes were needed
for cloture against a filibuster.

Webb Amendment: Rest for the Weary
S. Amdt. 2012
The Webb Amendment to the defense authorization bill, proposed by freshman senator Jim Webb,
D-Va, would enforce break periods during the deployment of individual U.S. troops in Iraq.
Despite unanimous Democratic support, a supermajority of 60 votes was not reached.

you must mean that the investigation is frivolous. Right. You can't really agree that they will actually find anything.

The investigators are wasting tax-payer money. Duh!

Eddie

You might want to notify the Alaska AG:

"The investigators are wasting tax-payer money. Duh!"

The investigation was voted for unanimously by 10 Republicans and 4 Democrats on the Alaskan Senate Judiciary Committee.

Palin said she had 'nothing to hide' and would cooperate 100%. Amazing what a VP nomination can do to seeking the truth and cooperation with an investigation BEGUN by Republicans in Alaska.

I know it sounds impossible, but the righties' vitriol here is growing worse.

Case in point: Something that calls itself Stone Fly finding ever less imaginative variations on names.. I'm sure that should be Stone Age Fly. herm

I know it sounds impossible, but the righties' vitriol here is growing worse.

I have noticed that too, herm.

And it is affecting me in a not so good way. I used to be a lot more calm and rational in my earlier RETORTS and now I seem to be more and more abusive or venomous myself in response the righties' lunacy.

I seem to think it is the only thing that they understand anymore. I know I am not like that but I can't seem to help myself! And it sure gets them to respond like I am "speaking in their common language".

It is as though the "Dark Side" is pulling me in!

Must... NOT... go... into... the... Darkness!

Alaska Senate President Lyda Green, a Republican, said she does not believe the investigation will collapse or be delayed by "outside interlopers" trying to protect Palin.

"I see no reason why we need to have infighting over a previously authorized investigation that still has its original purpose," said Green, a Palin critic.

She said the attempt to block the investigation will lead to closer scrutiny of how Palin and her administration's stories have changed.

"Go back and compare all the statements of everybody in charge: 'We'll be happy to testify, we don't need any subpoenas, we don't have anything to hide.' Now the implication is, 'We have something to hide,'" Green said.

yeah that street will sure hurt allright

and the watering hole is the only place I could go and sit down in comfort so fuck you very much lol

I understand your concern about being sucked into Republican debate tactics, DB, but the trouble is that this is the only form of communication they understand. Would you consider discussing an issue rationally and reasonably with a bogus paratrooper or a Johnson, a Cidney or a Vernon? herm

I agree, it is the same now trying to discuss anything about the election to a Republican. In my class the other day a girl told the group that Obama had said that Palin shouldn't be running for VP because she has kids at home. "She should be at home taking care of the kids like a woman should". After telling her to check snopes or factcheck becuase it never happened she automatically started yelling about it.

All I could do was laugh at her and say "look it up". There is no more civil discourse in this country and the facts depend on what channel you want to watch.
