"McCain has gone in his ads one step too far, and sort of attributing to Obama things that are, you know, beyond the 100-percent-truth test." -- Karl Rove on Fox News Sunday

Whaaaaa?

What funking alternative universe did we switch over into just now?

You gotta wonder what Rove's up to here. He's a sneaky bastard but he's not stoopid. Does he see McCain-Palin's tugboat endangered by self-destructive lying?

" Does he see McCain-Palin's tugboat endangered by self-destructive lying?"

Yep. Sounds like he's trying to save the McCain campaign from its own dishonesty.

Well if you've lost Rove then I imagine Bush/Cheney will be next.

Rove doesn't care that they're lying, he just cares that they're doing such a bad job at it.

you are seriously 100% USDA fucked-up if the worlds biggest lying scumbag POS bristles at your level of dishonesty.

McSames campaign is gonna eventually turn off everybody except the talibaptists (who are used to belief without evidence) and old people (who want the world to go back to 1955).

I think Doc is right. Rover is up to something sneaky and underhanded. I am not buying it.

Rove has to occasionally throw these kind of bones to viewers to keep that fat salary AND his McCain advisor job at the same time.

Now McCain's add can afford to stay within bounds and stick it to the opponent.

Don't get desperate and give excuse for the liberal media to come after you.

******************************

Obama's camp is getting serious on the issues that matters....

Obama camp: McCain can't type. Obama surrogate (Huff post): McCain can type.

Both parties are getting very serious on one matter: DISTRACTION.

This is what happens when the republicans forget to pay off all the help: they eat their own.

It's simple Rove is making a career as a political commentator. He wants to be taken seriously. His job under Bush was to get Bush elected. He did a magnificent job at that.

Who says he would undermine his own reputation by praising obviously shitty campaign ads?

People forget that Rove is not tied into the McCain campaign and has never been a politician.

Darth Cheney better check with his pal Lucifer - I think Hell just froze over!

Was anyone tuned in to Fox at the time? Was this while football was on ?

Karl Rove is probably NOT playing to the history books right now, and I suspect he realizes that it might even be a bit late for redemption and a place in the heavenly hereafter. I GOTTA think that whatever he's up to as his sands run out is not in MY best interest. herm

lol

This is like Satan telling Saddam Hussein to lay off the torture.

What a pathetic bunch of simple-minded dolts the repub party supporters have become.

How anyone could POSSIBLY risk putting Palin in the White House is proof that all their talk about "country" is yet another slogan that they will use when it suits them hold pow

He must know from his own experience that the only chance that McCain has is to go negative. Nothing else will help him after 8 years of the Worst. President. Ever who Rove so ably assisted to get and keep power by exploiting the credulity of the electorate to run sleazy campaigns against McCain, Gore and Kerry.

So I give up trying to understand it. Either he's being too clever by half, he's off his meds or he has discovered decency.

In order of probability, 2, 1 and 3.

Good godamighty DAMN.

This is scary as hell, because any time Rove's involved, you're looking at about four layers of deceit per sentence. This has to be some kind of double-talk intended to distract us from something he's up to.

The day that guy tells the truth about anything, look for pigs (No, that doesn't mean you, Caribou Barbie!), flying though a frozen hell, underneath a blue moon.

Something is up.

How the fuck would this fat, balding faggot know what "truth" is??

Preemptive jury tampering.

How the fuck would this fat, balding faggot know what "truth" is??

Youve probably seen John McCains You Tube ad saying Barack Obamas only legislative accomplishment on education was voting yea on teaching kindergarteners sex education

The Obama campaign refutes the ad. They say the legislation taught kindergartners how to discern sexual predators.

Not true. The McCain ad is right. The curriculum Obama voted on using is from SIECUS which provides the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, Kindergarten through 12th Grade

Lets take a look at what Obama voted on teaching kindergartners through 3rd graders. Kindergarten is referred to as Level 1, or middle childhood, ages 5 through 8; early elementary school--

Here is the course curriculum for kindergartners through 3rd grade:

(Click on the link to see the different levels.)

Now please, tell me that Barack Obama doesnt want to teach sex ed to kindergartners. You dont want to know what the program teaches high school kids.

The Obama Campaign Issues Document Citing Sex-Education Curriculum For Kindergarteners From The SIECUS And Oregon Department Of Education. "In addition, he issued a document showing that the Oregon Department of Education has guidelines for sex education for children in grades K-3 (which includes understanding the difference between a good touch and a bad touch), and that the Sexuality Information And Education Council of the United States [SIECUS] has curriculum for those in kindergarten." ("Obama And Sex Ed For Kids," NBC News' "First Read," firstread.msnbc.msn.com, Accessed 7/19/07)

I don't trust Rove's intentions one bit.

www.siecus.org

Rove calls Anamerican a liar.

When has Rove's opinion ever mattered to a liberal?

This is the sex education that Level 1 (Kindergarten)would receive. While some are okay, others are way over the top for that age group, IMHO:

HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Topic 2: Puberty

Level 1

Bodies change as children grow older.
Puberty is a time of physical and emotional change that happens as children become teenagers.
People are able to have children only after they have reached puberty.
Topic 3: Reproduction

Level 1

Men and women have reproductive organs that enable them to have a child.
Men and women have specific cells in their bodies (sperm cells and egg cells) that enable them to reproduce.
Reproduction requires that a sperm and egg join.
Vaginal intercourse when a penis is placed inside a vagina is the most common way for a sperm and egg to join.
When a woman is pregnant, the fetus grows inside her body in her uterus.
A woman can be pregnant with more than one fetus at a time.
Babies usually come out of a womans body through an opening called a vagina.
Some babies are born by an operation called a Caesarian Section.
A womans breasts can provide milk for a baby.
Not all men and women have children.
People who cannot have children may choose to adopt.
Topic 4: Body Image

Level 1

Individual bodies are different sizes, shapes, and colors.
All bodies are equally special, including those that are disabled.
Differences make us unique.
Good health habits, such as eating well and exercising, can improve the way a person feels about his or her body.
Each person can be proud of his/her body.
Topic 5: Sexual Orientation Subconcept: As people grow and develop they may begin to feel romantically and/or sexually attracted to people of the same and/or a different gender.

Level 1

Human beings can love people of the same gender and people of another gender.
Some people are heterosexual, which means they can be attracted to and fall in love with someone of another gender.
Some people are homosexual, which means they can be attracted to and fall in love with someone of the same gender.
Homosexual men and women are also known as gay men and lesbians.
People deserve respect regardless of who they are attracted to.
Making fun of people by calling them gay (e.g. homo,-- fag,-- queer--) is disrespectful and hurtful.
Topic 6: Gender Identity (begins at level 2)

Part 2

SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

Topic 1: Sexuality Throughout Life

Level 1

Most children are curious about their bodies.
Bodies can feel good when touched.
Topic 2: Masturbation

Level 1

Touching and rubbing ones own genitals to feel good is called masturbation.
Some boys and girls masturbate and others do not.
Masturbation should be done in a private place.
Topic 3: Shared Sexual Behavior Subconcept: Individuals express their sexuality with a partner in diverse ways.

Level 1

People often kiss, hug, touch, and engage in other sexual behaviors with one another to show caring and to feel good.
Topic 5: Human Sexual Response Subconcept: Female and male bodies respond both similarly and differently to sexual stimulation.

Level 1

Both girls and boys may discover that their bodies feel good when touched.
Topic 6: Sexual Fantasy (begins at level 3)

SEXUAL HEALTH

Topic 2: Contraception Subconcept: Contraception enables people to have sexual intercourse and avoid unintended pregnancy.

Level 1

Some people have children and others do not.
Each family can decide how many children to have, if any.
Topic 4: Abortion Subconcept: When a woman becomes pregnant and chooses not to have a child, she has the option of having an abortion.

Level 1

Sometimes women become pregnant when they do not want to be or are unable to care for a child.
Topic 5: Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Level 1

Sexually transmitted diseases are caused by germs such as bacteria and viruses.
There are many types of sexually transmitted diseases.
People who do not engage in certain behaviors do not get STDs.
A small number of children are born with STDs that they get from their mothers during pregnancy or birth.
The most common ways for a person to get an STD is to participate in sexual behavior or share a needle with another person who is already infected with an STD.
Children who find needles on the ground should not touch them and should tell an adult.
SOCIETY AND CULTURE

Topic 2: Gender Roles

Level 1

Girls and boys have many similarities and a few differences.
Some people may expect or demand that boys and girls behave in certain ways, but this is beginning to change.
Both women and men can be involved and caring parents.
Boys and girls can do the same chores at home.
Men and women are capable of doing almost all the same jobs.
Some men and women may be told that certain jobs and tasks are only for women or only for men, but this is beginning to change.
Topic 4: Sexuality and Religion

Level 1

Some families go to a church, mosque, or synagogue to worship; some families do not.
Religions teach people how to love each other, how to behave, and what is right and wrong.
Different religions may promote similar or different values.
Topic 5: Diversity Subconcept: Our society has a diversity of sexual attitudes and behaviors; some people are unfairly discriminated against because of the way they express their sexuality.

Level 1

Individuals differ in the way they think, act, look, and live.
Talking about differences helps people understand each other better.
The belief that all members of a group will behave the same way is called a stereotype.
Stereotypes can hurt people.
All people should receive fair and equal treatment.
People who are different are often treated negatively or unequally, which is unfair.

Notice how parts and pieces of the program are cherry picked in this commentary that bashes the ad:

www.rhrealitycheck.org

The foundation for a healthy life and understanding of sexuality starts with early childhood education and a discussion of the basics. And we are talking about the basics here, folks. Every child, even as young as kindergarten, has the right to a certain level of education about his/her body. Messages included for Level 1 (5 to 8 year olds) in the SIECUS Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, include:

Bodies change as children grow older
Everybody can be proud of their body
Individual bodies are different sizes, shapes, and colors
Girls and boys have many similarities and a few differences
Boys and girls have different body parts
It is ok to say "no" to adults who are touching you or make you feel uncomfortable

I am always shocked when the Right tries to make Americans afraid of statements like these -- statements that are designed to instill in young people a sense of self worth, respect for diversity, and ability to make safe decisions. The Guidelines also provide messages for children on friendship, love, parents, and values -- issues that we all care about.

Funny how they included the parts most of us have no problem with and left out the parts that many of us would not would our kindergarten child or grandchild taught in school.

Fuck the Republican party. The party of corruption, greed, and endless war.

LOL. Prove a liberal wrong on an issue and they resort to the F word. Love it.

"Notice how parts and pieces of the program are cherry picked in this commentary that bashes the ad"

Cherry picked? As opposed to your unsourced fairy tale? Or do you have a source for your "This is the sex education that Level 1 (Kindergarten)would receive."

Other than an e-mail you received, of course.

Wow! ScumBag-In-Chief admitting that the Republican Ads are all corrupt fake Bushit..!??

Why the sudden Honesty from WartHog ChickenHawk?
Seems suspicious...

"This is like Satan telling Saddam Hussein to lay off the torture."

Satan: "Sadam! Is sex the only thing that matters to you?" -- south park

Where'd you go, anamerican? Looking for that elusive "link"? LOL Prove a con wrong on an issue and they run away. Love it.

This is one part that I and most people would agree should be taught. It addresses what Obama said the ENTIRE program was all about.

Topic 7: Sexual Abuse, Assault, Violence, and Harassment

Subconcept: Individuals have the right to maintain boundaries that will help prevent or stop sexual
abuse, assault, violence, and harassment; no one should coerce, abuse, or assault another person.
Developmental Messages:
Level 1
Ones body belongs to oneself.
There are parts of ones body that are considered to be private, including ones mouth, nipples,
breasts, chest, penis, scrotum, vagina, vulva, and buttocks.
No one should touch the private parts of a childs body except for health reasons or to clean them.
Children should not touch the private parts of other peoples bodies.
Child sexual abuse is when someone touches the private parts of a childs body without a health or
hygiene reason.
Sexual abuse can also occur when someone asks a child to touch the private parts of his/her body.
Both boys/men and girls/women can be sexually abused.
Everyone, including children, has the right to tell others not to touch their body when they do not
want to be touched.
If a child experiences unwanted or uncomfortable touching, he/she should tell a trusted adult, even
if he/she was told to keep it a secret.
Children can be sexually abused by a stranger or by someone they know.
A child is never at fault if a person even a family member touches him/her in a way that is
wrong or uncomfortable.
If a stranger tries to get a child to go with him/her, the child should run and tell a parent, teacher,
neighbor, or other adult.
Most people would never abuse children.

I had already given it to you, but here it goes again.

In its entirety.

Nice cut n' paste, anamerican.

Where's the link to your fairy tale?

At least TonyRoma always included a link with his cut 'n paste jobs. Where's yours? Other than an e-mail you received, of course.

link again (for the ones who missed it the last time) ;-)www.siecus.org

I was told that a stork brought my sister. It was the first in a long list of lies that I remember my parents telling me. I became quite agitated that they would refuse tell me where the stork got her from until I ultimately got cuffed across the mouth and was told to shut up. That's the moment I became aware that the world around me was not what I was being told it was. Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny--the continued recitations of those placating yarns and the fascistic insistence that I take them at face value became the wedge between my parents and I that ultimately culminated in the biggest busted myth of all.

Your children are smarter than you give them credit for. It's better that they get the information in a manner that doesn't insult their intelligence rather than them gaining that knowledge the hard way.

Dutch, if you feel that way, why do you think Obama and his supporters are backstepping and claiming the ad is false? He should be out there saying why he feels it is right - not spinning it into something less than it is.

Apparently, anamerican, you don't know the difference between a 5 year old and an 8 year old child.

"In its entirety."

A concept of which you are, apparently, incapable of understanding.

Why does Rove hate America!

Level one includes kindergarten. Or don't you see that part?

Page 24, truth

You do respect the truth - even if it doesn't support what you originally thought, don't you?

As I said earlier, children should be taught to be aware of the dangers of sexual predators. Sadly, many are abused before they even reach kindergarten.

Many are even small babies. Sick.

"In its entirety."

Some educators or curriculum developers may prefer to create there own curricula or lessons. The Guidelines can help them do this as well. The first task is determining what topics the program will address based on the needs of the students and the available time, staff, and resources.

The final step to creating a lesson plan involves deciding which teaching methods will work best for each topic. Again, this decision depends on the time and resources available, the comfort level of the educator, and the needs and abilities of the students in the course.

"In its entirety."

"Level one includes kindergarten. Or don't you see that part?"

As I said earlier, you don't know the difference between a 5 year old and an 8 year old child.

"In its entirety."

SIECUS believes that comprehensive school-based sexuality education should be part of the education program at every grade. Such programs should be appropriate to the age, developmental level, and cultural background of students and respect the diversity of values and beliefs represented in the community. Comprehensive school-based sexuality education complements and augments the sexuality education children receive from their families, religious and community groups, and health care professionals.

"In its entirety."

But it does leave it at the discretion of the "comfort level of the educator", truth. In other words, the door is wide open for ALL of these topics to be taught to the child. And the parent has no input in what their child will be taught.

The difference in a 5 and an 8 year old? 3 years. Have you even been around a 5 year old lately?

"And the parent has no input in what their child will be taught."

When all else fails, make something up.

The school boards of which I'm familiar are elected bodies, beholden to the voters in the district.

Parents have no input in what their child will be taught? What planet are you from?

Dutch, I don't know any parents who are teaching the stork story any longer. However, children are still getting the Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny at a young age. I was somewhat pleased when I learned there was no Santa. I always wondered why a lot of the other kids got more presents than I did. LOL

"Have you even been around a 5 year old lately?"

All the time, fortunately. As well as a 10 year old. ;0)

You'll have to take that up with Obama and his supporters. I'm in favor of giving children all the ammunition they're bound to need in a society that has made no effort to reign in advertisers that have let the sex horse out of the barn a long time ago. Your kids are exposed to no end of sexualized imagery long before they ever get to K1.

"In other words, the door is wide open for ALL of these topics to be taught to the child."

Or some. Or none.

"In its entirety."

Some educators or curriculum developers may prefer to create there own curricula or lessons.

"In its entirety."

When it comes down from Washington, it is taught, truth. Consider Bush's No Child Left Behind (which btw was a Kennedy plan (bet you didn't know that, did ya? blogs.abcnews.com)). The teachers are pressured to teach the kids to pass these annual tests now so their school can continue to get funding. It has become the focus of their entire curriculum.

"When it comes down from Washington, it is taught, truth."

Not sure where you're from but here school policy and curriculum are state and local issues.

"The teachers are pressured to teach the kids to pass these annual tests now so their school can continue to get funding. It has become the focus of their entire curriculum."

Ah, yes, mandatory testing in order to grade school districts and allot monies. A very "Republican" idea.

"which btw was a Kennedy plan"

NCLB is a George W. Bush "accomplishment," regardless of whose fingers helped prepare the recipe. Just ask W, he'll tell you.

It's possible they would have a choice, truth. I can't say for certain. In the quote from the article below, it says "the law would have required age-appropriate information in schools."

The Obama Campaign Issues Document Citing Sex-Education Curriculum For Kindergarteners From The SIECUS And Oregon Department Of Education. "In addition, he issued a document showing that the Oregon Department of Education has guidelines for sex education for children in grades K-3 (which includes understanding the difference between a good touch and a bad touch), and that the Sexuality Information And Education Council of the United States [SIECUS] has curriculum for those in kindergarten." ("Obama And Sex Ed For Kids," NBC News' "First Read," firstread.msnbc.msn.com, Accessed 7/19/07)

ap.google.com

But the legislation was not Obama's, it never became law and it would have required age-appropriate information in schools. Obama has said that means warning young children about sexual predators and explaining concepts like "good touch and bad touch."

"It is shameful and downright perverse for the McCain campaign to use a bill that was written to protect young children from sexual predators as a recycled and discredited political attack against a father of two young girls," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.

Regardless of what he says now, Obama is not being forthright about what the contents of the bill he was supporting. Typical politician, don't you think?

Anamerican, thanks for the link.

This has been an excellent conversation. Thank you.

Off to bed now. Busy week ahead.

Ah, truth. I just read a little further and found this.

It also would have allowed parents to pull their children from sex education classes if they wished.

That settles it. There was an "out" if parents wanted to use it. On the other hand, I can't imagine how a child would feel if his parent wouldn't let him go and most of the other kids were participating.

Same here, truth. I'm glad we didn't gouge each other's "virtual" eyes out.

"And the sad part is most people seem to believe bullshit only comes from certain predictable sources: advertising, politics, salesmen, and lawyers. Not true. Bullshit is everywhere. Bullshit is rampant. Parents are full of shit, teachers are full of shit, clergymen are full of shit, and law enforcement is full of shit. The entire country is full of shit- and always has been. From the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution to the Star Spangled Banner,-- its nothing mroe than one big, steaming pile of red white and blue, all-American bullshit.

Think of how it all started: America was founded by slave owners who informed us, All men are created equal.-- All men,-- except Indians, Niggers, and women. Remember, the founders were a small group of unelected, white, male, land-holding slave owneres who also, by the way, suggested that their class be the only one allowed to vote. To my mind, that is whats known as being stunningly- and embarrassingly- full of shit. And everyone bought it. All Americans bought it."
-- the late george carlin

The worst part of it is that many who think that they know something are even worse off... because what they 'know' is almost ALL wrong...

We are always learning, Shawn. Sometimes you have to learn the truth by looking at both sides - because half a truth doesn't tell the whole story.

GET SOME NUTS!
