It's Sunday morning. Maybe the Nooner wanted to sleep in late

....activity will be down today. People see a Spud thread and most that have a weak stomach are too busy throwing up.

Los Angeles train crash --

The engineer of the Metrolink train which crashed headon into a freight train coming from the other direction on the same track -- one of the worst train crashes in the U.S. -- ran a red light.

Robert Sanchez, age 46, was text messaging with some teenager who was a train junkie one minute before the crash. Sanchez died but the other crew members of both trains survived. Many more people will die due to the serverity of the injuries. Death toll currently at 28, with hundreds badly injured.

Metrolink spokesman came out last night and said they took the blame and their engineer had caused the crash.

Anybody know if the power is off in houston around the area of clay road and sam houston? what about the cy-fair area at eldridge and 290?

We evacuated and now it seems like we may be unable to get back in less than a week (and maybe two weeks).

anything anyone can tell me would be helpful

I just clicked on here to comment on McCain addressing the fans at the NASCAR race (never posted on a nooner before) and saw your post, I don't know anything but that's gotta be rough. Hope you can get back in sooner than that.

Another one of my old friends passed this last week. His name was Dave Travis and he was a terrific guitarist, songwriter, recording engineer, mixer and when he was younger, spent 15 years or so down in the Yucatan stomping around in the jungle collecting exotic snakes and frogs for zoos and universities. He leaves a wife, son, and a whole bunch of singer/songwriter friends that will miss him.

Try "Could Not Have Done Better If I Tried"

Sorry, Dutch, to hear about the loss of another one of your friends. You've been going thru some tough losses lately. Sure sounded like he had a very interesting and full life. May he rest in peace.

For you, Dutch -- lyrics from his song about a rainy California night

Dave Travis

"Drawn To The Storm"

On rainy winter nights like these
I find myself in my van by the sea
watching the waves in their passionate rage
carve on the beach, write their own page
Yes, my darlin' I believe it's true
In that passion they are much like you
Intensity hidden beneath beautiful form
I have always been drawn to the storm

Here are some bloggers talking about certain areas of Houston and which areas do and do not have power. I don't know locations in the city (or even the state) but you might recognize some of the areas. You might even consider putting your own post on there and ask your question.

Power outages in Houston

Good luck.

Here's an even better website for you

CENTERPOINT ENERGY -- UPDATE ON POWER INFO

In the center column you'll see in blue the links to updated info as to which areas/zip codes in Houston have had power restored. Next update is 8:00 p.m. today. Hope this helps. Being without power sucks. I've had to go thru it myself a few times with power outages here. Last time some clown plowed his car into a utility pole and we were without power for hours.

thanks guys

This just in....Ocho Cinco Mucho Stinko.

And the hits keep on coming. Lehman files Ch. 11 Bankruptcy and BAC overpays for Merrill Lynch. Futures down 300 plus overnight. World is flat. 2 + 2 =5 and black is really white. Don't try to play this mkt. You'll get killed unless your a uber-genius. Someone needs to make a citizens arrest of Alan Greenspan.

The limo company I work for has (had?) a corporate account with Lehman. Adios to the road shows. Too bad, as road shows are where limo guys make their money. Time for this old buckaroo to find another job, methinks. The Lehman fella I had in the back seat on Thursday couldn't get anyone to pick up the phone in New York. It seems they all had brought an empty box to work that day to pack up their trinkets and nostrums for the long ride home.

OOHHHH SH!T I heard something was up yesterday.....but now it's real redsox holy sh!t

don't play this market???? We ALL have 401K's...

Dave- what I meant to say was don't try to day trade this mkt this week until the dust settles cause there's still systemic risk amongs other financials. With that said, Im going to a MM in my 401k until the shit show ends.
