The Justice Department is putting much more power into the hands of FBI agents pursuing leads on national security, foreign intelligence and even ordinary criminal cases.

Depending on your view point that's 12,000 JBs or 12,000 KGBs

"Threat assessments and early-stage investigations that cover political, religious or media figures and full-scale investigations of people in the United States, however, are special cases that must be flagged for bureau supervisors and lawyers..."
====================
...political, religious or media figures-why do they get a pass?

"Monitoring conversations between informants who agree to wear recording devices and subjects of investigations, which now requires the permission of an assistant U.S. attorney, could occur without a prosecutor's approval, except in sensitive cases involving state and federal officials and judges, as well as federal prisoners."

why do they get a pass?

homeland security = nazi ss.

This country is going to resemble China or North Korea in 50 years. Since I have no offspring, I could care less if this country goes down the fucking tube. The political elite control the strings.

" Since I have no offspring,"

And we can all be thankful for that..

Be paranoid!

Be very, VERY paranoid!

But is Force Choke one of those powers? I hear Hoover could do that one whenever he put a dress on.

The FBI has a bit of a better record than the CIA regarding torture, no? I like Ron Paul's idea: no more CIA.

OK, funny funny funny. Are you all done yet?

Common people, this one is serious.

FBI agents no longer need "reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed" or that a "threat to national security is developing" in order to start surveillance and questioning people.

These are the powers of what we used to call the Secret Police during the cold war. But then we were talking about the eastern block and Soviet Union. Now this is the Cheney regimes last gift to the USA.

Yeah. I know. But if you don't laugh, you'll cry.

And remember, Obama had a chance to try and take a stand against just this sort of crap. Rather then filibuster as he said he would, he turned around and voted for it, thus against the Constitution.

This kinda shit is why I state, over and over, the only thing Obama is going to change Vs. McCain is the skin colour of the liar on my television screen. Both parties suck and people need to wake up and do something, otherwise we WILL be Korea in 50 years.

Someone never heard of the Supreme Court, the Federal Judiciary, or the Tax Code.

Sohe proves once again he is a bigot. Sohe if you don't vote for Obama you are saying that you don't care about America. You realize Palin will probably try to shut down your radio station.

Obama isn't fit to run a 7/11. He is the, least qualified and most corrupt, of any politican to ever run for President.

You need to study history more, before you make such gradiose statements. Over 200 years we've had plenty of corrupt and unqualified people run -- sometimes they even won.

Osama just happens to be the current person who is being promoted above his pay grade because he's black. That's why he's known as the affirmative action candidate.

And where do you get off insulting 7/11 managers? It's a tough job with longer hours. Osama is qualified to mow lawns.

NMG_NO (Stupid name btw)- If you don't mind having your civil liberties violated, your public opinions about govt. recorded and put into file or YOUR offspring's rights abused. Be my guest. This is shit that the FBI's Hoover did with celebrities and other people he deemed to be a threat to the govt. for eons. To me this sounds like stuff that every american citizen is going to be exposed to. So, if this isnt newsworthy for you, be like Vernon and accept it as "ok".

You really got to love where this is heading.

The constitution says they cannot do this. They cannot give this authority to others, either.

These are high crimes.

Sedition.
Subversion.
Deriliction of constitutional authority.
Failure to comply with constitutional prohibition of authority.

When the people are suspect without probable cause?
History escapes you.
It is an act of war.

Against you.

Someone never heard of the Supreme Court, the Federal Judiciary, or the Tax Code.

FISA. Obama's as full of shit as the other guy, and when it REALLY mattered. If any of you "Democrats" gave a shit about our civil rights, Obama woulda been out on his ass for that act of treachery against our country. But you don't. You care more about the colour of his skin then the content of his character.

Obama got through Harvard Law School and Columbia. I went to Columbia and he did not get any break there because of his skin color.

On the other hand Governor Bunny Boots went to 6 colleges in 6 years, ended up with a laughable "communications" degree from IDAHO.

But, she's more qualified.

Right, I get it.

Gee, under that premise any 13 year old genius is a shoe-in for the highest office of the land... but who needs experience.

In case you're new here, I'm of the opinion that both parties have put up worthless candidates this year.
