Here's sometihng that'd you'd think would be common sense... but apparently not.
Don't run from the police. If you run from the police, you have become guilty of a crime. If you ask them if they are detaining you, and they say no; THEN you may walk away. Not until then. Not to mention that if they have to chase you, they will bring a brutal takedown with them. And, VERY RIGHTFULLY SO, they legally can.
If you feel you are the victim of unlawful search and seizure, you do NOT have the right to walk away while you are still being detained. You state that you do not consent to this search. If they want to do it anyway you DO NOT RESIST THEM. You spread your legs and you enjoy it. But remember every badge number, and ask for as many names as you want.
Then retain a lawyer and ask them to examine the situation. 9,999 times out of ten thousand, you'll find that you are an idiot, and the search WAS lawful. But in the off chance that you ARE that one person that was unlawfully searched, you have done everything correct and actually have ground to stand on to have the officers disciplined. If you ran from them, the court will not care that you had nothing on you. Lots of people run like hell so they can ditch the illegal goods.
I wouldn't be cheering, unlike the asshat diners; but if the kid were in earshot, I'd probably have told him "You did that wrong, you know. Everything that's happening to you right now you asked for when you ran."
Having said that.. anyone who cheers the cops ina situation like that is a douchebag who probably thinks Bush was a good President, so you have to excuse them. We need to have tolerance for the mentally disabled.
