I love the argument that illegal labor is necessary to keep costs down... it makes it possible to ignore the question of why its so f'ing expensive for a family with two wage earners to put food on their table.

Lock up the plant owners and deport all the illegals.

These guys are in so much trouble! The only thing Iowa likes more then growing corn is locking people up and I'm sure they are looking forward to 'diversifying' their prison population with these folks.

Even the owners have immigrant names, plant owner Abraham Aaron Rubashkin and former plant manager Sholom Rubashkin.

Another dog and pony show, just in time for the election. Then Government and their Corporate Masters will return to the policy of ignoring immigration laws written in the eighties to "solve the problem". Raid and release occasionally, ignore legal quotas for H1-A and H1-B, move manufacturing offshore, open new mechanisms for immigration, that is the real policy.

I must be going insane, I actually agree with Sniper.

If they want to have immigrant workers, make the law allow it.

As it is we have existing laws, and corporations should be made to follow them, even if it kills the business.

The only reason the law can't be changed is because the majority of people do not want the law changed so the government just turns a blind eye to enforcing the law. More of the same politics when it comes to tough issues that affect regular people, as opposed to corporations.

Null, you are speaking of anarchists not libertarians.

The only way to stop this is to allow the government to take over every last private corporation. Only then will labor laws have any teeth. Americans should all be given a job by the government as a gift for their 18th birthday. They will all work 40 hours per week maximum, they will all be paid the same amount of money regardless of their skill level, they will receive government healthcare, and they will all retire at age 60. Mediocrity will build prosperity.

It appears that a surge is going on lately with this raid and others around the country.

Where are the owners Not doing the perp walk for the media and world to see?

What is crazy is that illegals are not allowed to file charges--there is a law against them to do that.

What would happen if one of these children lost a hand in the meat grinder?

Allowing illegals into the country allows companies like this to employ slave labor, violate child labor laws and take away good jobs from legal citizens.

Iowa is a right to work state. These children do not have to abide by liberal union guidelines, nor liberal labor laws! This is an outrage! If big business wants to do something, they should be allowed to do it! How can the CEO of the company get a $90,000,000 bonus if he can't hire illegals!?

John McCain said Americans do not want these jobs, so it must be true. My Republican friends how excited are you that your Communist party is going to get to bail out Lehman Brothers? Forget individual rights, it's all about corporate rights! Big bonuses (that many Republicans argued there was not wrong when the CEO's received them) and bailouts on the taxes payers dime when they fail to run the business efficiently. McCain '08!

I forgot to add I knew Republican states were red on the electoral map, but I never suspects they would also be red ideologically.
