Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Abdur-Rahim Jackson, a black American dancer with a renowned company, was interrogated for an hour and ordered to dance by Israeli airport security staff before they let him into the country. "It was really embarrassing," Jackson said. "They repeatedly asked me what my father's name is, what my mother's name is and why they gave me this name."

Good thing he didn't have a violin, he could've been mistaken for Vanessa Redgrave.

I get this picture of cowboys shooting at somebodys feet, saying dance damnn you dance.

When you're willing to make an ass out of yourself to get into israel, you justify what they ask of you.

He should have said FU, turned around and went home.

Israel has the screening right. They do not hold back on anything. They screen, screen and screen and in the end you get a real steak knife on the jet.

Yup, and when he got home told all his friends not to go there.

I wonder what they ask when they are interrogating Jenna Jameson?

How's that working for them?

Good Comment ... Poor Vanessa

"Then one of them asked me to dance for him... it was really embarrassing," Mr Jackson told Israeli media.

Yes, professionals are always embarrassed when asked to display profficiency in their 'skill'? Would we define that as 'Profession Profiling'? How does this 'guy?' perform when he's on stage with 10's of people watching? non-story.

I apologize for the above post - after seeing his picture...

Keep apologizing. He's with the Alvin Ailey Co.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater grew from the now fabled performance in March 1958, at the 92nd Street Young Men's Hebrew Association in New York. Led by Alvin Ailey and a group of young African-American modern dancers, that performance changed forever the perception of American dance.

Today, led by Artistic Director, Judith Jamison, AAADT has gone on to perform for an estimated 21 million people in 48 states and in 71 countries on six continents, including two historic residencies in South Africa. The company has earned a reputation as one of the most acclaimed international ambassadors of American culture, promoting the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience and the preservation and enrichment of the American modern dance.

Despite calling the experience embarrassing and unpleasant, the 31-year-old Mr Jackson was sanguine about his treatment:
"It has already happened to me in the past, when I returned to the US after a trip to the Dominican Republic.
"Security guards interrogated me similarly, and they also asked me to dance. Maybe I need to get used to dancing at airports."

Maybe dressing in full drag for his passport photo wasn't such a good idea after all. I don't care if he's with Alvin and the Chipmunks - you wanna come into my house, you play by my rules...

Slimy Israelis are becoming more bold and more arrogant, and the good ole US has allowed it. From targeting protesters(such as one incident when they bulldozed an american female protesters) to shooting mortars at trucks clearly marked media. Our tax dollars (about 3.5 billion) go to their military year after year and they infiltrate our CIA and other secret services. BTW- have we ever gotten an apology when they bombed the USS Liberty in 1967?

What you bet Iran is dancing next with fusion or fission blaring in the background.

So, you think you can dance

That muslim name caught him some attention heh? SOOOO What? Israeli security has always been tight and this is just an example, without even mentioning how long he was detained. The article is written as if his civil rights were violated. They weren't because RACIAL PROFILING IS LEGAL in Israel and this is just another one of the stupid retorts on the dr

How dare Israel face the reality that muslims don't like them! The nerve!
Don't they know our leftwing loons object?

I left isreal once in a time when security was very tight. I called the embassy, because all flights had been suspended for 7 days and I was trying to find out if I should come to the airport. My flight was at 6 am.

I left Haifa at 11pm the previous night, 2 hr drive to tel aviv and was in the security line by 2 am. By the time I got out of security, it was 5:30 am, luckily, they held the flight for me.

They dumped out all my dirty laundry and picked through it one piece at a time. They made me turn on my computer and open every single program. The funny part was that the security guards were obviously highly trained and professional soldiers. Everytime they would ask a question they would stare into your eyes and not blink.

I knew that if I was twitchey or avoided the gazes, I would be sent to the side line so I fixed my stare and didn't even blink, which is hard on no sleep. It was almost comical. What wasn't funny was the 20 or so israeli soldiers on the plane with automatic weapons.

I felt very secure and nervous as hell at the same time.

Wow, big news, cops are arrogant asshats. Call channel 11.

This just in....AIPAC tells America to dance!

How dare Israel face the reality that muslims don't like them!

ISrael should ask WHY they (or anyone else) doesn't like them, be honest zbout it, and maybe own up to some reality.

It's simple dummy. People don't like them because they are Jews.

Perhaps you have a better answer as to why Nazi's and Muslims hate them so much?

Good. The Israelis are serious concerning interrogation and it's a problem.

I suspect that they'll avoid a 9-11 by not succumbing to the premise that sensibilities of some peopoel are more important than human lives.

A Muslim name? Now why would that raise interest? Oh, the Muslims are the terrorist killers. Got it. Now it makes sense.

If you look like a duck and smell like a duck, a closer inspection is necessary to exclude the possibility that you really are a duck.

The Israelis are to be congratulated for the extraordinarily fine job they've done to date, keeping terrorists off of their planes. We should also get our priorities correct, and value the lives of our people more than the sensibilities of those who fit the mold of terrorists.

Oh, the black card. He's black. Is that supposed to entitle him to a special license excluding him from scrutiny? In America perhaps. But then, we have warped the reality in this country to the point we bend over backwards to cater to black sensibilities regardless of consequences.

Please, it's called "security screening." the article makes a bigger deal of it than the person screened too.

Wrong 101- It's not everyday, hardworking Jews americans hate, its Neocon zealots like yourself that throw all their support to a piece of middle east dirt that has been a fly in the ointment of all civilization since 1948. That's where a big chunk of our taxdollars go year after year to support their military. And don't forget that our tax dollars that go to support our war machine year or year to fight the arab world because of their conflict with Israel.

The Israeli's knew who this guy was. They were humiliating him because he was black.

Pretty horrible. Being ordered to dance by foreign security officials? Anyone who finds this reasonable is not anybody who understands America and Her values. I realize this is foreign country, but the security officials went over the line. And to say that a professional dancer should feel fine about "performing" under these circumstances just does not get it.
