Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The strongest tropical storms are becoming even stronger as the world's oceans warm, scientists have confirmed. Analysis of satellite data shows that in the last 25 years, strong cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons have become more frequent in most of the tropics.

What does their report say about the cooling trends for the past 1000 years?
Did they put in their report that the earths temperatures fluctuate dramatically over longer periods of time due to sun spot activity?

The Little Ice Age in Europe
www2.sunysuffolk.edu

Western Europe experienced a general cooling of the climate between the years 1150 and 1460 and a very cold climate between 1560 and 1850 that brought dire consequences to its peoples. The colder weather impacted agriculture, health, economics, social strife, emigration, and even art and literature. Increased glaciation and storms also had a devastating affect on those that lived near glaciers and the sea.

Earth warmed when sunspot activity became pronounced. warm period about 1000 years ago known Medieval Warm Period -- time bounty which grapes grew England Greenland colonized -- time high sunspot activity, called Medieval Maximum. Since 1900, Earth has experienced what astronomers call the Modern Maximum-- -- 20th century has again been time high sunspot activity.

Al Gore New world order global warming is bullshit.

Damn this global warming! First I had to turn on the pool heater yesterday and tonight I have to put a cover on it because Hanna is coming!

Ike is coming to a lefty blogger y'all know soon I fear.

It's going to be a wet weekend.

It's going to be a wet weekend.

That's what SHE said...

That's what SHE said...

There's a lot of truth in that. My daughter was born 9 months after hurricane Dennis. Ye-ha!

Zatoichi is a fat feeble old chicken little who cowers under his afghan waiting for the world to end.

He's like the obnoxious guy on the street corner who keeps preaching about the end times and about how we are all going to hell.

Katrina was prof that global warming was in FULL DEVASTATING EFFECT.

A year later, the lack of powerful storms was proof that global warming was in FULL DEVASTATING EFFECT.

Here we go again.

Thanks chicken little.
Thanks liberals.

BULLSHIT!

Whatever...

I think the Wrong will get this only when their food supplies begin to dry up.

Our rice harvest was down 40% last year because we essentially lost one planting season due to the heavy rain. 28cm in one day crushed the crop, along with serious damage to fruit trees. All the long time locals couldn't remember a season so bad (60 year old lifelong Costa Rican farmers who literally live and die by this sort of thing).

We'd also never had a hurricane hit the Pacific side, ever, until last year.

Of course, when scientific theory and practical observation align, the Wrong thing to do is say, BULLSHIT, right?

List of Category 5 Pacific hurricanes

Today when I looked up at the Houston sky I saw the most beautuful blue sky that I ever recall seeing, not a cloud in the sky. This is the beginng of a new Little Ice Age.

The following list includes more than 500 qualified researchers whose research in professional journals provides historic and/or physical proxy evidence that:

1) Most of the recent global warming has been caused by a long, moderate, natural cycle rather than by the burning of fossil fuels;

2) The suns varying radiance impacts the Earths climate as more or fewer cosmic rays create more or fewer of the low, wet clouds that act as the Earths thermostats, deflecting more or less solar heat out into space.

3) Sea levels are not rising rapidly nor are they likely to;

4) Wild species are not being driven to extinction but rather are increasing the biodiversity of our wildlands;

5) Fewer human deaths are likely rather than more as the current warming continues, since cold is far more dangerous and the Earth is always warming or cooling;

6) Food production is likely to thrive during the decades ahead, rather than collapsing due to climate overheating; or

7) Our storms are likely to be fewer and milder as the declining temperature differential between the equator and the poles reduces their power.

The list includes researchers from many of the worlds top research institutions, such as the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory affiliated with Columbia University, the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysical Research, the Woods Hole and Scripps Oceanographic Institutes, Swedens Upsala University, New Zealands Waikato University, South Africas Witwatersrand University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The key dispute, of course, is whether the recent global warming has been due to humans burning fossil fuels or to the natural, moderate 1,500 year cycle discovered in the Greenland and Antarctic ice cores in the 1980s. Willi Dansgaard of Denmark and Hans Oeschger of Switzerland discovered the climate cycle, in the first long Greenland ice cores. Claude Lorius of France led the Antarctic team that reported on the first long Antarctic ice core in 1985. They shared the Tyler Prize--the environmental version of the Nobel--in 1996.

Dansgaard-Oeschger cycles have since been found in seabed and lake sediments, ancient tree rings, boreholes, cave stalagmites, glacier movements, and archeological artifacts all over the world. We rejoice that their work is now supported by hundreds of peer-reviewed research reports, with more than 1,000 authors and co-authors, from research institutions around the world.

This partial listing is derived primarily from the citations in our book, Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years. As the time of our small staff permits, we will publish additional studies and their authors to support the very important view that the Modern Warming is natural and no more dangerous than were the Medieval Warming, the Roman Warming and the Holocene Warming before it.

More BS from JinD. Tell me, why does the National Research Council, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the US National Academy of Science all state that global warming in manmade?

BTW, even the American Association of Petroleum Geologists also believes that global warming in caused in part by humans: dpa.aapg.org

I looked up one of the names of the researchers on the list, just at random: Karl Thomas of NOAA. Evidently, Karl doesn't think that global warming is all that good for species and ecosystems:

3. Vulnerable ecosystems. Ecosystems are highly vulnerable to the projected rate and magnitude of climate change. A few, such as alpine meadows in the Rocky Mountains and some barrier islands, are likely to disappear entirely, while others, such as forests of the Southeast, are likely to experience major species shifts or break up. The goods and services lost through the disappearance or fragmentation of certain ecosystems are likely to be costly or impossible to replace.

In coastal NC they have just adjusted the datums as far as elevation. They effectively raised sea level 1 ft. Not because the ocean has risen 1 ft but to match the datums used in the rest of the state. Now a house that was 10 ft above sea level is now 9 ft above sea level. You have to wonder how many times in the past that the baselines have changed on supposedly concrete scientific methods. Basically what they are saying is we were wrong before but now we have corrected our mistake. Sometimes you have to throw out what you thought you knew because it was incorrect. But if you continue to use the old data to measure change.......well, in this case you get caught short.

Stirs got it's brain caught in a blender once.

Randy,
All of the large corporations are promoting Manmade global warming, as a tool for creating a global carbon tax.
They are literally taxing the air we breath.
It is about control. Complete control of every aspect of our life.
This is the new world order. Its about globalization.

North America gets its first carbon tax
The Canadian province of British Columbia hopes to change consumer behavior and raise revenue by taxing virtually all fossil fuels, including gasoline and home-heating fuel.

It's coming to Americans next.
If you turn your thermostat up to high the eco-police will come to your house and pay you a visit.

The Eco-Police Are Here
LAST month, the East Hampton Town Board unanimously approved a town ordinance restricting homeowners' ability to cut down trees and other plants on their properties. The hope is that the restriction will save the last remnants of the native landscape in East Hampton and prevent contamination of the water table, both admirable goals. But the legislation comes at least 10 to 20 years too late and, in essence, places a conservation easement on every residential lot in the town.

Maybe you feel like living in a global fascist state, but I don't.

More paranoid BS from Jeff. The evidence is overwhelming for man-made global warming. Take off your ideological blinders and look at the facts. BTW, you still haven't explained why the American Academy of Science is wrong. Or any other major American scientific association.

Also, your heartland group is backed by big corporations. How can they be for and against global warming at the same time?

Where is your proof? Al Gore An inconvenient lie?
Why is it always the common guys fault? Why do the corporations get a pass on global warming, but the average person is the one that takes it up the butt?

The Problem Reaction Solution Paradigm (The Hegelian Dialectic)
1) The government creates or exploits a problem blaming it on others
2) The people react by asking the government for help willing to give up their rights
3) The government offers the solution that was planned long before the crisis

WISE UP! You are being conned.

I did explain... You weren't paying attention.
