Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

The choice of Sarah Palin without proper vetting has doomed the Republican Presidential effort for 2008. If the National Inquirer can back up their claims of a torrid sex affair between Palin and her husband's friend, with the standard of two independent, reliabe witnesses, as the Inquirer says that it can, then the Dream Team has no more than a few days, if not a few hours, before imploding.

Nice speech Sarah, bye now. Been nice knowing you.

Just another small sliver of dirt, the left hopes is true. This is just a continuing of the lefts policy, of trying to bring down an opponent to their own standards.

let me guess you were a strong clinton supporter!

Danni,

She did READ a good speech last night. High in one liners and woefully short of policy.

"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process."

.....from the paper that destroyed John Edwards....

....they are non-partisan.......

She did READ a good speech last night.

Christ almighty!!

Don't be a fucking hack, Jimmy.

She delivered an exceptional speech.

Disagree with the content? No problem.

That said, fucking-A, give at least a modicum of credit where it's due. It was a great speech in terms of delivery.

Please note - as much as I am impressed with Palin thus far, she still has much to prove - to me. She needs to get herself in front of the camera and answer tough questions levied by a media that is seeking blood.

Yes, it was a tremendous speech - but it was extensively rehearsed and it was presented in the friendliest of atmospheres.

If this turns out to be true (like the story about Edwards or the one about Clinton and Monica), it will have legs. If it turns out to be false (like the story about Kerry), it won't. Simple as that.

It was a great speech in terms of delivery

YEAH!

Well, just look at the audience! Half of those old codgers were already asleep!

She delivered an exceptional speech

And how did she deliver it? Did she hand out copies to everyone in attendance?

Are you claiming that she alone wrote it?

Again, tall in one liners and short in actual policy.

.....from the paper that destroyed John Edwards....

It would seem to me Edwards actions destroyed him. Not the Paper.

"It would seem to me Edwards actions destroyed him. Not the Paper."

Yet, when (and if) it's Palin, it's all the fault of the Paper.

i wonder if rush etal will be demanding the media cover this Enquirer Palin scandal the way they demanded the media cover the Enquirer Edwards scandal.

And I wonder if the Media will ignore it like they did the Edwards scandel. LOL.

Wizzer,

It doesn't confuse me one bit.

It seems that you are the ones confused. She read a good speech albeit short on any meaningful policy discussion.

But keep on believing that she is not part of the same old Washington crowd that has been fucking up your party for the past 8 years.

Truthhurts,

Rush will demand it the same way he demanded the media cover his own drug scandal the Enquirer broke.

It doesn't confuse me one bit.

Therein lies the problem, waterhead.

And my following comment applies to anyone and both Edwards and Pallin:

Why would anyone run for something like this when they have those kinds of skeletons in their closet?

Because people in positions of power get arrogant and think they won't get caught.

726,

"It seems that you are the ones confused. She read a good speech albeit short on any meaningful policy discussion."

It was an introduction speech her policies are not needed at this point. Nullifidian said it was a long speech, so talk it over with him, and get your talking points straight.

On top of that her teleprompter was being controlled improperly...
www.redstate.com

Let me give you an example of how someone sounds that doesn't have a teleprompter......
www.youtube.com

You didn't hear on uhuhuhuhuhuhu from Palin, she was steady...

Like a moose goin after some cabbage...

And I wonder if the Media will ignore it like they did the Edwards scandel. LOL.

Which, of course, the Media didn't do. On MSNBC, for example, after the initial reporting, they continued to run a blurb on the bottom banner for several days stating that Edwards had admitted to having an affair.

You didn't hear on uhuhuhuhuhuhu from Palin, she was steady...

People who claim that Obama's tongue-tied without a TelePrompter have paid absolutely no attention during this election campaign. He speaks off the cuff and without a prompter all over the place.

The right hears what they want to hear, Rcade.

Not only that but the big words were spelled out phonetically for her. You know, words like nukular, which was put up as "new-clear". She actually pronounces the word as nukular but we can't be havin' any Bushisms.

"You didn't hear on uhuhuhuhuhuhu from Palin, she was steady..."

It will be much more interesting to hear her speak when she actually has to think....if they ever let her off her leash.

I doubt that'll ever happen-they HAVE to be tightly controlled at all times-they don't want the facts getting out do they?

It will be much more interesting to hear her speak when she actually has to think....if they ever let her off her leash.

They aren't going to let her off her leash. Niccole Wallace said this moring that Palin doesn't need to speak to the media; she just needs to speak directly to the American people. So, unless someone can raise good questions for her in campaign stops, chances are the only questions she will have to answer in the next two months will be on Fox News and in the VP debate. Hmm, I wonder if that is a form of sexism by the McCain campaign? If they do keep her from the press, one has to ask: Would they have dreamt of doing such a thing to Rudy, Mitt or any of the others in the old boy gang who comprised their VP shortlist?

I thought the muckluck-wearing Mayor of Mooseville was being touted by McCain's camp as one tough broad, a huntress who can handle herself with a gun, skin a polar bear with her bare teeth, and didn't need any man to protect her. Now she's the delicate damsel in distress who needs to be sheltered from the media by the men in the McCain camp?

Which image does she want? She can't have it both ways.

Which image does she want? She can't have it both ways.

That's clearly not for her to decide

Which image does she want? She can't have it both ways.

That's something I noticed about her speech last night: she'd say one thing one minute and the exact opposite the next. For example, she said Obama said we don't have enough oil in this country to drill our way out of the oil crisis. She said, we already knew that. Then later she said, Take it from me, we have plenty of oil and natural gas in this country. She said she was for the workclassing and the average guy, and then she trashed community organizers. She mocked Obama's platform of hope and change ("hope is not a campaign theme"), and then she ended her speech by saying she and McCain were the candidates of hope and change!

I'm surprised her tongue was tied up in knots when she got through speaking since she engaged in so much double speak.

"How dare they ask if she, as a woman, will have time for her kids? They'd never ask a man that question." will become "How dare they say that she, as a woman, doesn't need to speak to the press. They'd never say a man shouldn't do that."

DANNI

Here's a video from the Charlie Rose Show with Palin and Janet Napolitano. As you can see, Palin is way out of her element. Once she runs out of cliches she has to punt to Napolitano to answer questions on the most basic issues. For the most part Palin just sits there with little of substance to say:

www.charlierose.com

This is absolutely hilarious!

LAST month the right wing was lamenting that the media won't follow up on the NE's reports of Edward's alleged affair.

THIS month the right wing is bemoaning the fact they will.

You just can't make this stuff up.

No, Danforth. If she did it, SHE destroyed herself. Not the messenger.

But *so far*, it's all been free publicity! Thanks, liberals!

Everyone who knows about her says that people always count her out--to their own detriment.

More people watched her than Obama! Maybe Obama needs a bigger facade! High School Musical 3 starring Barak Obama...

"More people watched her than Obama!"

Unless some new ratings have come out, the ratings count I saw was 38.5 million for Obama to 37.4 million for Palin.

Nothing to sneeze at for sure!

It's called "situational reality."

LOL!

More people watched her than her running mate, the one who is actually trying to obtain the office.

Think you need to rethink the numbers.

Actually, Regis did have an alien baby.
Problem is, Elvis ate it.

Potato, po-tah-to,
I see why Obamaniacs are worried.

Again, thanks for all the "free" press. It's probably worth $50-60 million in advertisements SO FAR..and it just keeps on coming.

The real christian VP hopeful followed her beliefs by having a torrid love affair, not with an unknown, but with her husbands best friend.

Welcome to Alaska!!!

you have to be fucking kidding me!! you trailer trash repubs never cease to amaze me!!

If you wonder why Christians want to convert the type of people found here on DR, one reason is that UNFOUNDED ACCUSATIONS are sin.

The name "Satan" means accuser.

I believe this story about as much as I believe the story that John Kerry had an affair. And that story never went anywhere.

Imus just reported that The Inquirer had lots of evidence when it ran the Edwards story.

...And that it only had an "unsourced story" now.

So no real comparison betweem Edwards and Palin.

Go find some TRUE and SUBSTANTIVE issue to go after Palin about.

um, no - keep going ebuzz.

bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha!

"If you wonder why Christians want to convert the type of people found here on DR, one reason is that UNFOUNDED ACCUSATIONS are sin."

You mean like when the Bushies claimed that Iraq had strong links to Al Queda and WMDs as an excuse to invade Iraq and kill a shitload of people?

Where's that Muslim School sinner?

Where's that false birth certificate sinner?

Who gets to cast the first stone again?

I thought our little leftist-socialist friends admired folks who had multiple sexual encounters with partners other than their spouses anyway. That being the case, they should have great respect for Palin. The reason they don't is probably that they know it's not true. Or is it just that they approve that activity for men only, DEMOCRAT men, that is?????? Lemme see...FDR, JFK, WJC...high approval...yep, that must be it.

This grossed me out until I found out she was banging her hubbie's friend, not John McSame.

The Right seems surprised than a dope smokin' hippy chick (the kids' names say it all)who got married cause she got knocked up and whose daughter is getting married cause she got knocked up wouldn't be getting some on the side...

It isn't the left that will be Palins problem--they weren't voting for her anyway. It is the right that will boot her ass back to Alaska.

I don't think you understand the position of many on the left. The left isn't the party that makes a big deal out of politicians personal life. It is the right that gets upset with things like JFK and Marilyn Monroe and cries shame shame. JFK never tried to get legislation through congress that denied rights to adulterers. The left is against hypocrites like Craig who tries to get legislation denying rights to gays, when he seems to be bisexual. Do you see the difference there? Most on the left don't care who is sexing who, unless it interferes with their job. The only time I see the left pointing fingers is when hypocrisy is involved. It is the right who wants to check everyones bedroom activities.

Named:

Alaskan Abroad, the blog of an Alaskan journalist, reports that the allegation refers to the time when Palin became mayor of Wasilla in the mid-1990s. Palin's husband Todd owned a snowmobile dealership with his business partner Brad Hanson. Apparently Hanson, who was also married, and Sarah got on famously; Alaskan Abroad's sources say the two were "flirtatious but never consummated the relationship".

"When Todd found out, he reportedly dissolved the partnership and sold the dealership. Hanson is now a member of the Palmer City Council."

The Enquirer's own anonymous source claims there was an affair. The paper reports: "Todd discovered the affair and quickly dissolved his friendship and business associations with the guy. Many people in Alaska are talking about the rumour and say Todd swept it under the rug."

Further allegations continue to emerge from the original Enquirer story, including the suggestion that Palin had attempted to force her pregnant teenage daughter Bristol to marry the father of her child before the story of the pregnancy broke. Bristol refused, leaving her mother with a messy situation to deal with in the run up to her speech to the Republican convention.

BBob nails it, as usual. The crime is not that Sarah - or Bristol - screwed around. The point is hypocrisy. The least Sarah can do now is go before the cameras, a la Jimmy Swaggart, and sob that "I have sinned." Cheezus will surely forgive. Not sure about American voters. herm

Of course Biden os not held to the same standard in Herms little world. A daughter who is a stoner a couple more kin soon to be indicted. Gotcha hermie Boy. So far this will be about the 10th unproven accusation. How did AU miss this?

Unless, of course, this allegation is shown to be false; coming from the Enquirer, that's likely to happen. Just because the Enquirer got the Edwards and Limbaugh stories right, doesn't mean that the hundreds of other stories that appear in their pages aren't pure crap. But of course Hermie jumps on the leftie bandwagon with the "guilty until proven innocent" mentality - the one that says: "Gasp! The NE said it - it MUST be true!"

If that's the case you'll also have to start dogging on Obama for having a bad marriage and cheating on his wife!

"BARACK OBAMA'S MARRIAGE EXPLODES ACCORDING TO NATIONAL ENQUIRER"

coverawards.com

(For all the people who think I'm saying Obama cheated, I am not - I am simply using this story to highlight that the Enquirer really isn't a great source for the news.)

"if she did have an affair, it won't matter."

True, in this way:

Regardless, they're going to lose in November.

The vast majority of the country believes we're on the wrong track, and even if it's close (which it's not, despite what the media keeps pretending), undecideds usually break for the party out of power.

What's sauce for the goose, Bart ...

If the Enquirer went overboard with Edwards, who's not running for anything, it can surely explore Frau Palin's marital fidelity, In GOP-like terms, where there's smoke... And if the story is not true, Sarah can always file a libel action. herm

Why would having an affair matter? She's hot -- has needs -- and found some bumpkin to nail while Governing the great state of Alaska.

Family values, you say?

Whatever...there are no family values in politics.

So why act like it matters.

Only male Democrats have affairs? Are you familiar with the names Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde and Bob Livingston? This trio of hypocrites led the charge to impeach Clinton despite having affairs themselves, two of them as the Clinton investigation was being conducted. The Republican hypocrisy in that case alone was jaw-dropping.

The vast majority of the country believes we're on the wrong track, and even if it's close (which it's not, despite what the media keeps pretending), undecideds usually break for the party out of power.

Dan --that is correct--the party out of power is usually the one to win.

But that was before Sarah came along and changed the entire landscape.

Have to see how the polls look on Monday--

Rasmussen comes out at 9:30 am

"But that was before Sarah came along and changed the entire landscape."

Damn, I guess we can't be accused of deifying Obama anymore since Sarah Palin seems to be the real Messiah.

As for this issue with Sarah--it would be astounding for a woman with 5 kids --the Governor, running a business with her husband--to have the TIME for an affair.

I really want to know how she does it!! ;o)

Damn, I guess we can't be accused of deifying Obama anymore since Sarah Palin seems to be the real Messiah.

Not even close.

Look, I fully agree that some of her appeal is superfical, but she hasn't caused anybody to faint yet.

"Not even close."

Looks to me like you Republicans are in love with your new Goddess.

"that was before Sarah came along and changed the entire landscape.
Have to see how the polls look on Monday--"

All due respect, you're not looking at the only metric that counts: the electoral college. It's not close, and it's not going to be close.

You heard it here first.

"Look, I fully agree that some of her appeal is superfical, but she hasn't caused anybody to faint yet.

Emphasis on the YET.

Someone on here yesterday, I can't remember for sure who, referred to her as "our wonderful Sarah". I just thinks its fun how someone who nobody knew a week ago is suddenly so revered and lauded as the savior of McCain's aspirations.

Rogue,

It's infurating, isnt it?

She has all sorts of potential but is SO unproven, with such a minimal resume.

Sound familiar?

Rogue,

Your party screwed up.

A Clinton/Obama ticket would have been killer - possibly 12 years of the DNC running the White House. Now? This election will likely go down to the wire.

What kind of experience does Palin have over Obama?? Not anywhere near the experience Obama has bar none. She was what a Mayor for 10 Years that did NOT have any responsibility behind it. Nor was the Governor of Alaska anything to write Home about. How many sessions do thyey have in Alaska?? I would hardly think too damned Many. Obama on the other hand has had to make decisions that affaect Millions of people. What has Palin done?? Answer Me THAT one oh JeffJ??

Larry

"It's infurating, isnt it?

#77 | Posted by JeffJ"

What's really infuriating is the McCain campaign building this insulated wall around her and trying to make it seem like any question about her experience is a personal attack when they've been subjecting Obama to those questions for months.

John McCain canceled an interview on CNN because Campbell Brown had the audacity to ask his campaign manager to name one decision made, or order given by Palin to the Alaska NG. McCain said that was "over the line".

WTF?

Danforth the electoral copllege has Obama at 301 and McCain at 224 with 13 ties.

Larry

Rogue, if that story is true, the McCain campaign is being overly defensive and will soon be making Sarah look weak and themselves silly.
