Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said during a Florida campaign stop this week that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November. "If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."

Except my brother and son.

Always thought Nixon should've been tried and, if found guilty, put in a striped suit and shoved into a cage. Ford pardoning that bum only reinforced the perception that some people in this country are, indeed, above the law.

......war criminals should be tried........

I loved Nixon in my youth. Then i found out he was a common criminal and i have not been the same since.

He said, 'We will not go into cambodia', meaning to escalate the war. the first thing he did after being elected was to go into cambodia.

I don't know how long before nixon that presidents and staff have been pardoned, but we need a constitutional admendment that says no one, even the president will be pardoned except by a majority vote of congress after being applied for by the president.

better get rid of Nancy first

Yes i am
Nyaa, nyaa nyaa!

Dick PrePardoned Cheney.

Me too!

Speedy I forgetwhatsecretdocumentsItook Gonzalez.

"better get rid of Nancy first"

Nancy wouldn't have anything to do with a normal Justice Dept. investigation and indictment.

I think Biden would be well advised to get elected before he starts talking about charging anyone with anything. Bush/Cheney only need to feel that they will be indicted to then start WWIII and declare Martial Law.

In all seriousness, this is nothing but major pandering big time.

Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said during a Florida campaign stop this week that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November.

If a criminal offense has been committed, it should be pursued whether or not they are elected.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."

What's the problem? Biden said "if." Does goverment oversight and ethics McCain/Palin style advocate this:

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will NOT be pursued, especially if you are talking about the president because, you know, criticizing the president is like criticizing your pastor. You can do it, but then you'll go to hell."

www.drudge.com

....aren't Biden's own family members getting special treatment, legally speaking? I remember reading something about that.

If a criminal offense has been committed, it should be pursued whether or not they are elected.

If they aren't elected, then it will be up to McCain/Palin to do the pursuing, unless the Dems retain control of one or both houses of congress.

Biden said they have nothing on Bush so why even mention it?

Was this another of Joe's drunken Stump Speech moments?

BYDEN KISSED OBAMA`S ASS AND SAY IT SMELLS GOOD.....

Great Obama steals his lines from "The American President," and this douchebag is stealing them from "Judge Dredd."

Can't wait Obama to work, "I wish I knew how to quit you," into his opening remarks of the first debate.

Who doesn't love the smell of cocoa butter?

Danni, I don't think ush and Cheney are worried. Pelosi and Redi can't find their asses with both hands... they have had 2 years to put up or shut up, and they have done neither...

Question for the DR community: Does anyone recall Obama already being on record as saying he will not pursue charges if elected? i thought I saw that linked on here some time back... if so, is Biden running off the reservation on this, ior is he being used as the attack dog?

I predict Biden strokes out long before McCain is in the ground. All it takes to make Biden's forehead bolus throb is to serve him his tuna on wheat instead of white. Him surviving the campaign without keeling over will be a miracle.

Rob, He flubbed the line. It was supposed to be from Segal's "Above the Law"

Biden Toscani:You guys think you're above the law. Well, you ain't above mine

Sounds like the 2006 election all over again. Next it will be how the dems will lower gas prices, stop earmarks and spending... All those lies which got them into power. Of course a 11% approval rating may dummy them up if they think about it.

If they aren't elected, then it will be up to McCain/Palin to do the pursuing, unless the Dems retain control of one or both houses of congress.

Biden and his crook son are not above the law either. And neither are Obama and his buddy Resko.

Cut them some slack. As long as there is at least 1 republican still in office, even if it's at the municipal level, it's not their fault that they're not getting anything done.

Every reasonable and fair person whould agree that if criminal conduct was committed, it should be fully investigated. And if sufficient evidence of crimes exist, prosecutions should ensue. This basic tenant of justice should apply not only to poor inner city unknowns, but to Presidents and Vice Presidents as well. Only people with misguided partisan agendas could disagree with this proposition. Let's not allow politics to stand in the way of truth and justice, regardless of who it implicates.

Eh Joe, you didn't have to wait to this moment. You do know who the Speaker of the House is.....don't you. Joe....JOE!!!!!!!!

OK, the dirty little secret is out.. ... criminalization of policy.. a favorite pastime of Joseph Stalin, is not too surprisingly going to be used by his disciple Barack the Holy One.

here's how it goes... "we hate Bush, therefore Bush is a criminal.

They also hate working and productive americans.. so get ready..

Don't you think we shoud address the 57 States first?

......war criminals should be tried........

Especially if they go before Congress and admit to war crimes committed by other people, including themselves.

Granted, the others can testify that they didn't - but the accuser admitted his own war crimes.

That's the main reason I couldn't vote for him for Presdient. He was a self-confessed criminal.

Moder,

Kudos to your 2:25pm post. 100% agree.

As the Governor of the fifth third state of Happy-land I resent that remark!

If I get three squares and a cot, it sounds more attractive than living outdoors if your Boy get's elected.

I imagine utopia for us all once Obama is Prez. Socialism will be the greatest lifestyle you could ever imagine.

Talk about desperation, Elect us and we will put Bush in Jail.-- HEHeHe

That falls into the same category as buying votes. Which coming from Chicago politics Obama most likely has perfected the art.

I like how he was recorded making the statement and now when questioned he's saying he did not. Funny how in the modern electronic age you can't get away with this anymore.

No, you need the same thing the Scarecrow needed.

because we have two separate sets of laws
Yes we do. The last president that violated the law did not receive any punishment. Know who that was?

"The last president that violated the law did not receive any punishment."

Other than being impeached, publicly humiliated, disbarred by the US Supreme Court and the State of Arkansas, you mean?

pencil-necks,

Every president has broken the law. Every single one. But the pardoning process is out of order. WTF is pre-emptive pardoning?

Let the president have pardoning ability with congressional oversight, checks and balance, that's all i'm saying.

And when you figure out how to go back in time, we'll go back and punish the other ones.

"Every president has broken the law. Every single one."

Joe (MOTOR MOUTH) Biden is a LIAR.

This morning on FOX News Motor Mouth was asked if he and FLOP EARS won the election, would they bring criminal charges against Pres. Bush. Motor Mouths response, "I haven't heard that.

This guy runs at the mouth so much he can't remember what he said last. How you liberal ASSHOLES can vote for these two I don't understand. Maybe that is why you are refered to as ASSHOLES.

Be sure to write it down and share it with Larry and Curley.

The Two Joe Bidens:

BIDEN #1
When asked during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, whether he would "pursue the violations that have been made against our Constitution by the present administration", Biden answered in the affirmative.

"We will not be stopped from pursuing any criminal offence that's occurred," he continued, going on to praise congressional committees for the deliberate pace of their inquiries into alleged Bush administration misdeeds.

"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued not out of vengeance, not out of retribution, out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."
www.guardian.co.uk

BIDEN #2

"That is not true,'' Biden said to a question of pursuing criminal charges against members of the Bush administration. "I don't know where that report is coming from.

"What is true is the United States Congress is trying to preserve records on questions that relate to whether or not the law has been violated by anyone,'' Biden said. "No one is talking about President Bush. I never heard anyone mention President Bush in that context.

"No one is talking about pursuing President Bush criminally."
www.swamppolitics.com

Great post Joe ,and a great gaff by happy hour Biden.

Ditto to Joe. Biden 1 was also speaking to a hip crowd at the Deerfield Beach nursing home. He can really work a crowd can't he?

See if you guys agree with this;

A constitutional admendment that prevents any executive orders, pardons or other law instruments except as has been agreed by congress.

If it has national security implications, then congress will decide if the state of national security compromise is real and if so, will allow the president to act unilaterally.

The problem here is that one or two people cannot be allowed to circumvent the constitutional check and balance system, otherwise, as bush said, 'it's just a god-damned piece of paper.' and if that person has pardonning powers, well, they can do anything they want with no oversight.

I am not even interested in prosecuting bush/cheney even though they deserve it. We need to fix it where it cannot happen again without accountability.

Biden has lost it.... the dems are super mad.... Lehi angry and Waxman faultfinder and Conyer revengeseeker.

Because God explicitly said Bush will not be touched, I think Obama and Biden might lose.

"Because God explicitly said Bush will not be touched"

Oh, i forgot God only tells you the things you want him to tell you. Fantastic, the hypocracy of these christian mental cases !!!!

While the national media is busy creating scandal out of the fact that Sarah Palin went to numerous non-Ivy League schools (yes, seriously), the Delaware News Journal has a devastating and disturbing piece on how Joe Biden has repeatedly slandered the man involved in the car crash that killed Bidens first wife and daughter.

In several public statements over the years, Biden has insinuated that the man who caused the 1972 crash was drunk. The man cannot defend himself. He passed away in 1999. His family grieves.

But hey, who cares about Bidens lies? Time to slander Gov. Palin and her family some more!

Heres the intro of the N-J piece, but make sure to read to the end. And check out the comments from people who know Joe Biden best:

Since his vice presidential nomination, Joe Bidens 2007 statement that a guy who allegedly drank his lunch-- and drove the truck that struck and killed his first wife and daughter has gained national media traction.
Alcohol didnt play a role in the 1972 crash, investigators found. But as recently as last week, the syndicated TV show Inside Edition aired a clip from 2001 of Biden describing the accident to an audience at the University of Delaware and saying the truck driver stopped to drink instead of drive.--

The senators statements dont jibe with news and law enforcement reports from the time, which cleared driver Curtis C. Dunn, who died in 1999, of wrongdoing.

Biden sure is a piece of work. Anything for one more vote.

How funny;

Clinton perjured himself yet biden voted "not guilty". No one is above the law unless you are a democrap.

#67 | Posted by Lipzoidial

I'm not sold on the amendment. Not that I don't like it - it just needs to be polished.

As for national security implications, I don't think it should be Congress. National Security issue? Let the President talk to the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority leader, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

If you can get the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial to agree, then I'd accept the National Security implication.

They agreed to the 16th

What does that have to do with this idea?

Biden would never try to bring up criminal charges against Bush because he would be forced to explain his ties to Mahmud Ahmed and Pakistani ISI. (Which will make him just as criminally liable as Dubya.)
