D*mn -- where is Condi Rice when you need a Soviet Affairs expert!?

Just heard on NPR that "there's a feeling of euphoria in the Kremlin these days".

You have to believe that the US overreached in the face of a tired Russia, but the Bush & Cheney administration's decisions did everything to blow the potential opening up of Russian economy and society, and helped enrich a shifty Vlad Putin, and diverted attention away from strengthening a network of European partnerships to chasing a fantasy of democracy in the Persian Gulf by setting an example in Iraq! When gambling with foreign policy, let's keep the ideologues out of the Executive Branch!

Screwing around in what the Russkies regard as their sphere of influence was not a wise move. Of course, you've got to consider the players, e.g. Dick Cheney, George Bush, Condi Rice, charter members of the Sad Sack Squad.

We appear to have forgotten how quickly the Raygun Administration went ballistic over a leftist regime taking over in Nicaragua. Nicaragua, for chrissakes.

And you want to start planting missiles in Poland?

Whattayaexpect?

War is on the planning mode, just have to look around the globe and see who is going to benefit from it.

What we really need is someone like Barack Obama, who will ask the Russians what it is they want, and give it to them. Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland out of NATO? No problem. Free and unfettered meddling in the near East? Check.

Peace in our time! Cue the fireworks!

I am sure that Sarah Palin is right on top of this issue being how close Russia is to the US.

What is her answer?

"there's a feeling of euphoria in the Kremlin these days".

Well of course! When Ivan says "I just want to station my Army on your land to protect you from America" you know all those folks in Central Asia will trust them.

Doc, good points -- But remember, that ABM site in Poland is to protect it from Iranian missiles!
