Several months ago I listened.
Then each month, once each month, I listened again.
As of yesterday, I listened.
At first I thought it was some soap on TV. Leave it for months, come back, and the story pretty much is the same.
But, it wasn't a soap.
It was Hannity.
So, what issues are we discussing today?
Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc.
He wants to discuss issues, but he doesn't.
After months of flipping the radio stations just to hear these names again and again is so tiring.
Guilt by Association.
Hannity is friends with a criminal, who was fired by Reagan, and had immunity to avoid punishment for his crimes against our nation and the Congress. He is Hannity's friend. Guilt by Association.
I hear Obama doesn't have executive experience. Neither does McCain. We didn't have a primary end with one. We have Two Senators.
So, what do they do? They write bills and vote on them. That is essentially their only job. They aren't executives, they aren't the judiciary. They write bills and vote on them.
So, the question I ask myself is what kind of job have they done? Obama has less years than McCain in such a job.
I look at less time, meaning less things to review, vs. more time and more things to review.
In the end, in reviewing their achievements and failures, I must weigh who did better (or worse).
I'm not convinced that either has produced legislation that pushes them into the Presidency. There are 100 Senators. Is every single one of them capable of being President? I think quite a few would say they are not - and have done far better than these two in the job of Senator.
For a fencesitter, I'm listening to where they want to lead us. Their life stories are remarkable - both of them. Both have the confidence of many, many voters.
Before I consider which to choose, I am going to take a good look at Congress as, despite my choice, the Congress needs to be considered this year, too.
6 years of single-party power has proven that at least one party can be trusted with such unbalance. I'm not so convinced that trust can be placed in any other either.
So, in a year where I must judge what is best for my country, I may have to vote to keep the Executive and Legislative branches from singular ownership.
