Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential pick eight years ago, criticized his former party's nominee on Tuesday as an untested candidate. "Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead," Lieberman said. "But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record -- not in these tough times for America."

When he referes to Obama being "gifted," he must be talking about his dealings with Rezko.

What he means by "gifted" might be what your teachers meant when they desribed you as "special."

Dumbasses from the left seem to forget that Barry is running against McCain, not Palin, and that McCain makes Obama look like a babe in the woods that can only make speeches. Oh yeah, I forgot, Obama's running a presidential campaign, so that qualifies him for the presidency. At least according to some guy I know - let's call him "RonyToma" for now.

At least they called me special, instead of just using me as a teacher's lounge ashtray like your retarded ass.

Well, the last time I looked, one person doesn't run the country.

I kind of think bush surrounded himself with people who would help him. I wonder, it appears the interview process for experience is not a qualification for the republicans.

YEAH!

I must say the repub convention was excruciating to watch!

I dont think I have seen that many tired looking codgers in one place outside of a Country Kitchen AARP buffet special!

Thompsons performance in particular was just awful, and someone please give that guy some butter so he can go ahead and pass that hairball he was chocking on!

At least they called me special. . . retarded ass.

That's what I thought.
Thanks for the confirmation, though.

John McCain III--gawd, that's eerily reminiscent of "Thurston Howell IV"---and Sarah Palin are running against Barack Obama and Joe Biden. That's why the competing sides are called "tickets." You cast your vote for the ticket, not an individual candidate. So, yes, Obama is running against McCain. . .and Palin.

You didn't know that?
Well, hey, you're welcome.
No charge.

haha lieberman should be worrying about his own political future now

connecticut is a democratic state

being for the iraq war is one thing while he has so many other things in common with the democratic party

but speaking at the gop convention :)
i always voted against him
now its time to have some companions in the voting booth voting no to lieberman

"Both presidential candidates this year talk about changing the culture of Washington, about breaking through the partisan gridlock and special interests that are poisoning our politics. But, my friends, only one of them has actually done it. Only one leader has shown the courage and the capability to rise above the smallness of our politics to get big things done for our country and our people," Lieberman said. "And that one is John S. McCain."

Oh wait, Barry was on that committee thingy, right? And he DID vote "present" over 130 times as a lowly state senator(not a governor), which shows he has good judgment, right? What a joke. John McCain is more than qualified to be president. Barack is qualified to clean his bathroom. Keep deflecting to that VP nonsense, as it's already getting old. And THEN what have you got?

governer of oil
i mean alaska

drill drill drill

John McCain is more than qualified to be president... of an oil company.

and what of his opponent

in his 3 years he voted NINTY FOUR times to either raise taxes or against tax cuts..........

this from headline news network and not my imagination

Oh yeah, I forgot, Obama's running a presidential campaign, so that qualifies him for the presidency.

I love that reasoning, too. That makes Lyndon Larouche the most qualified man in the country for the presidency. He's run about 10 campaigns -- and half of them from prison no less!

and more about drilling

this past weekend a major storm BLASTED its way through the most dense population of oil rigs in the country and the amount of oil spillage???????

Palin is praying she won't hear that McCain is definitely sticking by her....she knows that with Sen. Flip Flop she may as well start packing for her trip back to Alaska.

"this past weekend a major storm BLASTED its way through the most dense population of oil rigs in the country and the amount of oil spillage???????"

Neither did any wind mills or solar cells.

McCain makes Obama look like a babe in the woods that can only make speeches

Obama right on Iraq, right on afghanistan, right on the timetable.

McSame, wrong on Iraq, wrong on afghanistan and accrding to Bush, wrong on the timetable.

And now, wrong on the VP selection. hell, he was wrong on what's middle class-$5 million?

But he did get down on his knees and kiss the asses of the "agents of intolerance" by blowing off the Jew, the Mormon, the pro-choice Proddy and the Catholic, all better choices than Palin. Certainly no babe in the woods when it come to pandering and putting ego over country.

and that may be correct but can you give us the difference in energy production at THIS TIme between yours and mine..

Probably not the best idea to let everyone know that you spent so much time checking out other guy's junk.

There are only 43 people who have been tested.

McSame: Old, Testy and Insane.

He called Obama eloquent...what a racist pig.

That's prett good. By those standards Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, Jesse and Al... Funny the similarities between these dems and Obama. I wonder if the campaign managers will start thinking they are Presidential material.

"But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record....."

I'd rather randomly pick a guy out of a phone book than have someone in office who promises to continue down the path of the neocon's failed policies.

In fact, I may randomly pick a guy out of the phone book and write him in as my POTUS selection come November.

Sully -- depending on what state you live in, you may as well give your vote to Randy Schuenermann and the rest of the PNAC cabal.

Don't forget Sharpton. He's run 2 campaigns and is, therefore, surely "ready on day one" for that "3:00 a.m. phone call."

"Sully -- depending on what state you live in, you may as well give your vote to Randy Schuenermann and the rest of the PNAC cabal."

I'm in NJ. Our electoral votes always go to the same place. Pretty sad.

In five tries, I've never voted for a presidential candidate who won.

In a wingnut GOP mindset machismo=leadership.
Do you think you are going to convert one(1) vote to your sorry little values ?

Lieberman has a giant woody because his state's Dems told him to F'off.

Reid has said that he's loyal to Lieberman because, aside from his Iraq stupidity, he's a faithful Dem vote... we'll see about that when we have a real senate majority.

Joe Loserman?

Is he still around?

He was cast off as being 100% irrelevant by the rightards of the DR not long ago and now they're tongue-bathing his sack.

Barry is eloquent when he reads the words off of a teleprompter that someone else wrote for him. His "gift" is what he learned from Chicago politics, attack and destroy your opponent. Look how Obama is attacking Palin's Downs Syndrome baby.

"Look how Obama is attacking Palin's Downs Syndrome baby. Posted by fwthom"

To borrow a phrase...

... Link or Stink.

Palin has do not a single thing that is either illegal or immoral but yet the news media is buzzing like this is Jerry Springer. There is every reason to continue with her, since all of this news is of no importance.

I am elated that Palin is on the ticket. McCain will make a fine president if elected, but Palin is the future heart and soul of the Republican Party; much like Obama has replaced the Clintons, Palin will replace the Bushes.

a record like what? "The Keating Five", being in AIPAC's pocket, war profiteering, failing against al Qaida, Energy Prices, ballooning deficits including $1.5 trillion wasted in Iraq, or the $11 trillion housing crisis?

"Palin will replace the Bushes.

Posted by dap244"

With what?

"just as I thought in every gym class shower that I was in........MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS"

Huh?

Bet it isn't!

"Palin will replace the Bushes."

Must be sad to be a Republican.

"Palin will replace the Bushes."

I have to admit that when I first read that my immediate thought was "with indoor plumbing".

But then I said to myself, no, that would be wrong, so I didn't say it.

Lieberman "Lemme lemme lemme lemme tellya, this is my last chance to get some attention around here"

Palin will replace the Bushes

Too bad for Jeb, another former Rep. Governor McCain could have picked but didn't.

That's prett good. By those standards Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, Jesse and Al... Funny the similarities between these dems and Obama. I wonder if the campaign managers will start thinking they are Presidential material.

...uhh, after you pieholes installed the last monkey, standing upright qualifies as presidential material.

"Sen. Barack Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead," Lieberman said. "But my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record -- not in these tough times for America."

Will he say the same thing about Palin after she gives her speech tonight? I don't doubt she will do a good job introducing herself to the American public.

Benefit of the doubt now.

Lieberman is right. Obama is untested. We saw evidence of that a couple of weeks ago during that church debate. We will see more evidence of that when Obama appears on the O'Reilly Factor tomorrow night. If that's not enough, the Presidential debates will prove once and for all that McCain is the only sane choice in November.

Benefit of the doubt now.

Yep, the benefit of low expectations. Hi Zat!

Hi Gal.

We should visit Karen.
After the season, of course.

I have to admit that when I first read that my immediate thought was "with indoor plumbing".

But then I said to myself, no, that would be wrong, so I didn't say it.

That is very Obama of you....so, let's listen to your messiah and stop spreading all of these rumors about Palin's fake pregnancies, down symdrome kids and how she caused it, how you can't be VP and a good mother, and unwed teen harlots that a family values mother could not control - yes, it is time to change Washington and only mention these items to condemn the actions of your subordinates acting under your directions and not address them directly....

"And clean, don't forget clean"

Lighten up Clarence. I didn't say any of those things. I just thought "Palin will replace the Bushes" was a funny set up for a punch line.

You mean like "Lerch" who lost in 2004?

Experience means nothing without judgement. All McCain is experienced at is making bad decisions.
He never vetted his VP pick, he had no idea what he was getting.
McCain sent his advisors to Georgia to manufacture a crisis that blew up in his face. We're damn lucky that stayed as small as it did.
Shoot first and ask questions later is not what America needs. It's the exact same judgement as Bush's decision to invade Iraq without an exit strategy. The same judgement as a gambler who knows how to do nothing but double down. What happens when McCain doubles down on Iraq? And will anyone stop him?

Palin believes that Iraq is a holy war, that it's God's will. You think someone who believes in holy wars will ever make a rational decision, will exercize good judgement? Will give McCain propper counsil? Talk him down? No, she'll be there guns blazing right beside him. Nuke Iran? Hey, why not, it's God's will.

Is that going to be the McCain/Palin strategy? Start wars and pray like hell? Act recklessly at every turn?

Holy War. It's obvious why the neocon base is energized. There's no talking you off the ledge now and I'm not even going to try. Jump if you like, but America isn't going to follow you. McCain swerved to the right, and he's losing the middle.

"Too bad for Jeb, another former Rep. Governor McCain could have picked but didn't."

Neocon Jeb to be more exact.

Newsflash, Libz: Obama isn't running against Palin! He's running against the old guy!

"Barry is eloquent when he reads the words off of a teleprompter that someone else wrote for him. His "gift" is what he learned from Chicago politics, attack and destroy your opponent. Look how Obama is attacking Palin's Downs Syndrome baby."

did anyone catch McCain lip syncing Palin as she read from the telepromter on her first speech, good job!

Obama writes his own speeches, Palin is having McCain's people do hers. Understandble if you look at some of her comments
What do you think of "Under God" in the pledge
Palin, "if was good enough for our founding fathers it's good enough for me"
Founding Father's 1770's
Pledge written 1892
"under god" added 1954
FWTHOM has a cadidate that can relate to him!

Palin, Young, Untested, Reads Well:
There was a flutter of attention when McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told a group of Post reporters and editors yesterday that his team was having to rework the vice presidential acceptance speech because the original draft, prepared before Gov. Sarah Palin was chosen, was too "masculine." While we all wondered to ourselves what might make a speech masculine or feminine, no one batted an eye at the underlying revelation: that the campaign was writing the nominee's speech before knowing who the nominee would be.

Never mind the prehistoric days when a politician might be expected to write his or her own words; speechwriters have been around since long before television. But traditionally their job was to channel their bosses' thoughts and ideas into poetry, or at least comprehensible English. Nowadays, apparently it's naive to expect a speech even to reveal something of the essential views or character of the speaker. Instead, campaigns -- not just the McCain campaign -- draft their speeches with an eye to which demographic groups need to receive which messages, and then we in the media rate the speeches based on how well we think they hit those targets.

So when you watch Sarah Palin tonight, expect to learn something about how well she handles a Teleprompter. Expect to learn something about the McCain campaign's assessment of its political standing with women, or working families, or social conservatives. Whether you're learning what Sarah Palin really thinks or feels is anybody's guess.

"Lieberman "Lemme lemme lemme lemme tellya, this is my last chance to get some attention around here""

Don't kid yourself. If the Dems end up with 58-60 Senators, Lieberman will again become a darling of the left, and be able to write his own ticket. Maybe Obama will make him Secretary of State; maybe he'll get to choose his chairmanship.

I wouldn't burn that bridge just yet.

Obama's only as eloquent as his teleprompter.

He's the most inexperienced presidential candidate in herstory!

Obama's so risky and untested that even his OWN VP nominee thinks he not ready to be president!

Dems end up with 58-60 Senators...

BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!

9% approval rating. 9.

As soon as the obstructionist Republicans are thrown out of office and we have a non-obstructionist President watch for their ratings to rise considerably.

"BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!
9% approval rating. 9."

Keep laughing, fool. The Republicans themselves said it would be a good night if they "only" lost 3 or 4 Senate seats.

"9% approval rating. 9.

According to RCP - its actually 17.8. And you wouldn't want to forget that almost 1/2 of the Congress has an (R) next to their names.

RCP also shows preference for Dems over Repubs in the Congressional Elections 47 - 38.5.

So, yes. There's a pretty good chance that the Democratic majority in both houses will increase.

As soon as the obstructionist Republicans are thrown out of office and we have a non-obstructionist President watch for their ratings to rise considerably.

Sure. We can't wait for higher tax bills, $6 gasoline, and waiting on the New Bureau of Health Management for a voucher to go see a doctor. Whoo whoo!! Then just watch their ratings soar, to the mid-twenties!!

Liberman reached out to Bush and the dems thought that was treason and tried to throw him under the bus. Then Liberman had an epiphany that he has no future in the dem party and turned Independent --- and still welcomed by the reps.

Make him ambassador to Israel in the MCain admin.

RiR

Since Obama will LOWER taxes MORE than McCain for 90% of Americans your point is lost on me.

McCain voted AGAINST alternative energy funding 17 times before gas hit $4 a gallon. What an incredible transformation for him to now be calling for alternative energy to wean us off of foreign oil.

Drilling will provide 3% of our energy needs, and there's not guarantee it will remain on U.S. soil.

Voucher to see a doctor? Guess you haven't had to have YOUR doctor call some 25 year old with no medical training to have the least little thing - including an ambulance ride - approved?

Look, I know your clients make a lot of money so you don't care about 95% of other Americans who don't have the benefits your clients do, so I don't expect any objectivity from you regarding any policy matters. Only what will line the pockets of people who have more than they need already.

The experience McCain claims is faulty. It shows faulty decision making for decades. He has a lifetime of experience in failure--except for his marriages.

Actually, I personally will make a lot more money during an Obama presidency. But if you really believe that Obama will cut taxes on 90% of Americans, and fund THAT with increases on his rather elastic definition of "the rich"--you're crazy.

And I'd also love to know where that stat on drilling (3%) came from. All the crude used on earth right now comes from drilling. Does Obama plan on going after a lot of tar sands and oil shale? Because enviros go absolutely NUTS when you talk about that.

Fair enough. Voting for Obama will bring us big tax cuts, and lower gasoline prices through less drilling. Sounds great. That is change we can believe in, true enough. Just imagine how cheap gasoline would be if we didn't bother to drill for it!!

5 million new green jobs!! No more oil imports after 10 years!! LOL. Whatever. You guys'll believe anything you hear in a good speech.

maybe if you spent a little time getting some information you would know a little more about the keating incident and his ivolvement

even the prosecuter who was a democrat choice said at that time that mccain should not have even been involved
how do I know that?
ON CNN during the "mccain revealed" documentary and if its ON CNN>........IT HAS TO BE A FACT>........

and what info do you have on war profiterring because I guess you could say that about all of the little towns during WW2 that had military manufactoring plants spring up were guilty of the same thing
but then thats history and you probably dont get that on cnn
