Kingzilla - I know that many teens today (TOO MANY) become pregnant and I firmly believe the main reason is the lack of sex education in both our schools and our homes.It has been proven that abstinence education does NOT work and I believe that Bristol Palin's predicament is a perfect example of this. Yes, 'accidents' happen even when using birth control but it is inarguable that accidents happen a lot less often when birth control is used.

My daughter, some years ago, brought up this discussion at the dinner table: Her biology class assignment was have the students in the class ask their parents how they would react to the news that either their daughter had become pregnant or their son had gotten a girl pregnant. They were then to write a report on the subject based on their parents' answer. Our answer was simple: I told our daughter that we would support any decision she made regarding the pregnancy but that we would be horrified that she would put her life in jeapordy by having UNPROTECTED SEX. Today this is no longer an issue of will a girl get pregnant. It is an issue of - will a young person expose him or herself to a life-threatening disease. Back in the day, all WE had to worry about was getting pregnant or contracting an embarrassing social disease that would be cured with a few shots of penicillin. Today, a young person has to worry about much, much more and I think our schools and our parents are falling down on the job BIG TIME.

Well, you can't blame a state when it's given hundreds of millions of dollars to build a bridge... with no legal requirements that the money be used for building that bridge, then changes their mind and decides to steal the money and spend it on other things.

Crooked as hell, but it's the status quo.

Building the little strip of road to the beach where the bridge WOULD go to keep from having to give federal funds back... now that's priceless. Just keeping the money in Alaska, you understand. Maybe they'll even build the ramp up to where the bridge would have started... make a nice place to jump your car into the bay to kill yourself when seasonal affective disorder gets to you.

Now if only someone would pay the U.S. nine trillion dollars to build a moon base, but append no requirements to actually build that moon base, so we can steal that money to pay off the national debt... of course, the U.S. government would simply blow it on candy or some other bullshit, and keep right on spending until we have a 20 trillion dollar debt.
