I don't think the jokes on that one will ever stop but, even though it might be hard for Larry to do, if he doesn't get mad and/or bring it up pretty soon only the long time regulars on here will even know what those jokes are talking about. But if Larry gets mad -- and then some of the newer posters on here ask why -- the doggie tale keeps getting retold and explained over and over again and so it never goes away.

Like this thread, for instance. Back in the day, I enjoyed reading Rex's posts. He was abrasive, but often offered an interesting perspective. He was absolutely classic when Zarquawi was offed.

My problem with Rex was how intensely personal he made his flame-wars. He turned this site into his own personal playground and battleground. He was downright mean and that is something I have little tolerance for.

Since PWZ faltered, he has come back under a myriad of handles and has been much more restrained, mellow and not really nasty at all. This hasn't gone unnoticed.

That being said, he tried to ruin this site and pretty much forced Rogers to install site moderation, which up until that point, RCade never felt moderation was necessary.

When he started up PWZ, he and his cohorts attempted to draw Drudgies away - and he had some initial success. However, his nastiness pushed good people away from PWZ - Revdarko and Kanrei come immediately to mind.

As much as I appreciate the fact that he's no longer a nuisance on this site, in whatever iteration he's posting under, I have a real hard-time simply overlooking all of his past shenanigans.

Now, Alex...Palin is a hottie, at a minimum a solid 8! (well, she'd get 8 from me...)

The problem with Palin is that she's a heartbeat away from POTUS. McCain is older than electricity and POTUS rapidly ages young men.

I agree that spending 8 or possibly even 4 years as Veep is a tremendous learning experience and would likely get her up-to-speed. But, what if McCain is assassinated? What if he keels over after a year in office. She may very well step-up and do the job, but we don't have much of a track record for her, at an executive level, to ausuage such concerns.

PS - on the Palin thread I commented that her experience trumped Obama's. While I think her governorship is superior to anything Obama has accomplished, her time in that role is very scant. Yes, she was mayor before that but the population was only 9,000. I am friends with the mayor of my town and its population is greater than 9,000. His mayorship isn't a job, it's a side-gig. All-in-all, Obama's experience, when taken as a whole, is more applicable than that of Palin's.

I already emailed TonyRoma regarding my revised stance and he replied back. Putting this out here is to acknowledge my error to Nullset. I wanted to post this on the original Palin thread, but I can't access it anymore - apparently almost 1400 comments has caused it to be wierd.

I love BO but the problem is that there is still a large number of people who will never vote for a black guy.
