Right Dumpling1, the Peoples' Republic of China had its Cultural Revolution under Mao worked its wonders in transforming society, and now you're suggesting that we follow the leftist communist-nazi-fascist authoritarian ideological example and have a purge in America.
You're prejudging the value of the purge by designating it a witch hunt thus denigrating the concept without regard to the circumstances. In China the process undertaken by an authoritarian regime, which many Americans respect as it is leftist, and to which many leftist Americans pay homage as acting in the interests of "the people."
Would the leftists conduct the purge if they attain power? It seems leftist regimes are quite willing to institute such actions on the explicit premise that "the end justifies the means." Look at Stalin, Mussolini, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot. Hundreds of millions died for "ideals" intended to accomplish "good."
We certainly are aware of how hateful many lefties are to those whose opinions differ from their own, pronouncing all sorts of maledictions, and wishing them ill, because the lefties have an "exclusive" on "good," and recognize that anyone else is motivated by "evil." So, lefties wish people die of cancer and invoke other loving, caring lefty hopes. We certainly can anticipate the totalitarian left taking "revenge."
The left is always calling for prosecutions and supporting extreme measures in the name of "lefty good." The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. And the lefty model will cause great grief if the left gains control of the political apparatus and can work its way on the world. The left is so certain of the correctness of its world view and the world that it will create that any lefty initiated action, is justified.
Right Dumpling1, you lefties must be salivating at the prospect of instituting a new purge. It would be as based on ignorance and misconceptions as the program for removal of witches was, and some people would be advancing private agendas, but what the heck, kill for the totalitarian ideal. The witchunters were wrong. But their modern day equivalents are leftists guided by proper principles, and correct. For the greater good. A leftist purge and punishment for the rightists.
